  1. Glad to hear it. Nothing wrong with posting links. On another note, there are some good free beginner rev tutorials available here. Some videos are particularly helpful, like Line Management, Flat Relaunch, and Changing Frames.

  2. I have wanted to learn to fly a REV ever since I ran across them on you tube. But at the same time I have looked for a video that showed the very basic's in controlling one. I have seen a few but it all looked confusing to me. I had been looking for the video how to fly a REV for dummies (me). Until today I found a video that is perfect for learning the very basics on keeping the kite In the air. I am so thankful for finding this because now more then ever, I know there is hope for me. Not sure if I am allowed to post links to it so I will just say thanks to Joe. I am so excited this week I will be looking for anything I own to sell just so I can get me a REV and start learning to fly. Sorry I don't have any kites to sell I only own two right now. One of which I just bought used from Charly and got it today. If I can post link please let me know. If I cant that's ok . Thanks, Mike Quick someone call a nurse I think I got a fever.......

  3. Seeing as how you are a Kitelife subscriber, you have access to the premium vids as well. The videos on the web site Spence gave are actually hosted here. If you're logged into the KL forums, when you click on the premium vids at learnkites.com, the vids will pop right up for you. The advantage to finding them at learnkites.com is the vids have a description. You can also get the vids through KL by going to the "Downloads" tab at the top of KL web pages.

  4. I was at an indoor "thing" Friday and heard Wala was much heavier than the Skate. I just weighed my Wala against a borrowed Skate, both of which have recently been flown on the sand (it always gets into to some pocket or crevice) and my rough findings are Skate = 62 g and Wala = 95 g. That's roughly 6 US nickels (not necessarily $0.30 though) of weight difference. They are both good kites with very different aerodynamics. Perhaps life is too short not to own every glider kite out there

  5. If you get into Revs (funny, I said if), watch John's video on line management til you're sick of it! Pays off though when you finally hit the field and you can wind and unwind lines easy and tangle free!! Once you find a system that works for you - don't change it!! Do it exactly the same every time!! Make it habit, automatic, so much better than cussing at those messed up lines every time!!

  7. If this is the set I'm thinking of, then it went through quite a weekend. And Wayne bought a new set. Wayne, come on over whenever, and we'll string out a piece of 120 LPG...

  8. Hi! The super glue method works great on SMALL holes, that are NOT in a stress point on the sail. And it doesn't hurt to go ahead and try a repair with the super glue. If it looks like it didn't join the edges good, then go with the tape. http://www.thekiteshoppe.com/products/Tedlar-Repair-Tape.html

  9. What you want is a good spectra line. Laser Pro Gold, Shanti Speed, Shanti Skybond, and Berry Blue are all good products for duel line. I generally lean toward Laser Pro because I like it's resistance to stretch and creep (stretch over time) which is particularly important to me when flying Revs. I haven't found other products that quite match it.

  10. Tedlar tape is my remedy of choice as well. Just be sure to cut off a round patch. Any corners on the tape can come loose and make the tape start to peel off.

  11. I have one I made after flying one in Wrightsville Beach, this thing pulled like a freight train. Wind around 15 mph, wing span only 2 feet wide, and about 2 feet tall, the Plans I have can be flown as a two line or quad line. Bridling is quite a challenge. Donald

  13. I like that idea. Maybe add a mini kite to keep 'em off of the road. 3 or 4 sq.in sails should do it if you stay above 60.

  14. Hey Wayne, maybe you should take those lines out of your kite bag, and bungee them to your radio antenna, for the trip. Assuming it's not raining, that should dry them out, through and through ........... Seriously, though, it doesn't take items like that, very long to sour, and mildew, if put up damp ps.........and no, I don't mean unwind them, and allow them to flap in the wind, dangling 120 feet behind the car
