  1. That surprises me too, I've seen them shattered and snapped but never snapped in more than one spot. Did you hit the ground hard or just fly in winds hard enough to snap it? Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  2. It may not be true but it seems to me that the spars have a tendency to break right up against the labels, not sure why but that's what I've seen. As for the vented sail can I use this as an excuse too? I've been looking all over to find a reason to get one... Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  3. OK, gotcha I had thought you had said the lines were originally 20 feet for some reason. My mistake. I was wondering how you were flying on 10 footers outside, that's a small wind window! Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  4. Congratulations of something not going completely wrong with a flight! When the wind dies completely I often slowly walk away from the kite as I fly it in circles around me rather then land. If you were on ten foot lines which I'm guessing you were this is pretty easy to do. I fly on a 4D and have never tried indoors but if you're already on ten foot lines and can find a place to fly It might be less work than unpredictable breezes. Good luck with everything, I hope you can get a good enough day to get an hour or two in soon!
  5. I would definitely recommend getting a 4D. I live in a very low wind area and got almost no flight time in so I got a 4D and it has given me far more flight time. It also is great training in general because it requires a really calm touch compared to a heavy kite in strong winds that you can just muscle around. If you get one it will allow you to fly more and improve your skills. I love power so when winds start to howl I have a snapshot 1.9 and a tensor 5.0 that I break out rather than beating on my Rev or Dualies. Next plan for me is to get a vented rev to fly in high winds. Good luck fixing the bridle!
  6. Welcome to the forum. Everyone is super helpful and the resources are great. I was into dualies for a few years before I even discovered the Rev so I can sympathize with you on that. They must just want them all for themselves, I mean JB must have enough kites for a small village at this point and I don't think he's alone in that. Hope the flying conditions are good for you today, I have 30 mile an hour winds and downpours right now, not quite ideal weather for anything.
  7. Awesome thanks, that will be a great kite to keep people flying in light winds! PM sent.
  8. I have a 1.9 and a tensor 5.0. The tensors are a different beast by far. The snapshots have speed and pull but when you get behind a tensor it flies WAY slower (at least with my 5.0) and just wants to pull. I have a board that I use behind it and it is great. You won't regret getting the Tensor and those 2.5's will definitely give someone else a great time.
  9. I am looking for any inexpensive (or free...) kites for a start up kite club at Rochester Institute of Technology. I am currently co-president of the RIT kite club with my roommate. I have about 16 members in the club and am really happy about how many people are hooked. I am currently looking for any old kites for the club to use. I have my kites that are being used often and some members could buy cheaper dualies. My goal is to get four Revs for team flying, we currently have two and I'm working people to buy their own but it isn't possible for most people to get the money for it. Let me know if you can help out with a kite or know somewhere/someone I can ask for help. I would like kites in working condition but I have the means for doing fairly extensive repairs and I can't be very picky asking for cheap stuff. I can find a way to pay shipping on kites. You know that old kite could use a replacement...Thank you very much.
  10. Thanks, I'll definitely give Lolly a call. I already have the materials to build myself a kite but I don't think I can build one good enough for anyone else for awhile. And do you really think I don't know its an addiction, once you hold the lines your hooked! I have had to answer the question "why do you have so many kites" or "why do you need another kite?" far to many times. my answer- simply hand them the lines. And thanks for the welcome.
  11. Hello Kitelife, I've been kiting since I was about 11 and just got a chance to kite way more. I live in norther New Jersey but didn't get many days to fly because my town was all forests. Now that I'm a college in Rochester New York it is about a 300 foot walk to a field that has good wind at least for days a week, AKA heaven. I started with a Prism Nexus that I still have, beat up but functional. I bought a number of prism kites over the years and have a 4D, Snapshot 1.5 and tensor along with the Nexus. Probably three years ago I discovered the rev but couldn't get one until about two months ago I bought a 1.5 sle. All I have to say is wow, I'm in love. I am currently co-president of the RIT kite club with my roommate (chosen based solely on the fact that we both kited) I have about 16 members in the club and am really happy about how many people are hooked. Now that I am the guy that the club looks at and says "that's good flying" I decided its time to step it up and really get great. I have never flown with anyone better than me and I decided that It would be a good idea to turn to the forums to get my information and help.
