  1. I'd like to dabble with stacking some B2's. Does anyone have a photo they could post showing where the stack lines connect to the next kite in the stack please? Guessing I need to attach them at all six caps? Thanks. Sent from my E6653 using KiteLife mobile app
  2. Sorry, John, I can't get past those security pgotos to confirm I am not a robot and buy a ticket for Caroline. Have tried many times yesterday and today. I have told Caroline I have been unsuccessful, and said I would ask you if there is any other way she can book a place. Any ideas, please? Sent from my E6653 using KiteLife mobile app
  3. Yes, Caroline wants to do both the indoor and the outdoor clinics at St Anne's. Sent from my E6653 using KiteLife mobile app
  4. Thanks John Yes, Caroline S. She would like to do both indoor and outdoor clinics at St Anne's. I tried to add her yesterday, but failed. Will try again. Sent from my E6653 using KiteLife mobile app
  5. Haha, just seen the signup link at top of page! Sent from my E6653 using KiteLife mobile app
  6. John. Caroline asked me to check if she is signed up for the indoor clinic, but her name doesn't appear here. Please can you remind me how /where we sign up so that I can add her. Thanks. Sent from my E6653 using KiteLife mobile app
  7. Thanks guys. Lots of good ideas for me to try. I also asked Stephen and Steve from the Flying Squad to show me the other day, and I seem to be doing better with my handle wrapping, and unwrapping, now. Plenty of chance to practise handle wraps this week during this 9 day festival at Berck, France! [emoji3] Better get back on the beach..... Sent from my [device_name] using http://KiteLife mobile app
  8. Thanks Eric, but it is the technique for wrapping the lines around the handles (as you walk towards the kite) that I am wanting tips on, rather than wrapping the lines around a winder. Sent from my [device_name] using http://KiteLife mobile app
  9. It's something I have only tried a handful of times, but seems very useful at more festivals when I need to set up or break down my kite quickly. Any tips for the best technique please? Which way round to hold handles whilst winding? Straight wrap or figure 8? How to lock the handles together, and secure the loose end of the lines? Plenty of chance to practise different techniques this week at Berck! [emoji3] Thanks. Sarah Sent from my [device_name] using http://KiteLife mobile app
  10. Ah yes. Interesting. Occasionally I have had to look away whilst my kite flies near the sun, and there is some level of flying through feel building up with that. Sent from my [device_name] using http://KiteLife mobile app
  11. Thanks JB. Couldn't find this yesterday. Will take a look tonight. Sent from my [device_name] using http://KiteLife mobile app
  12. Haha, the Bahamas sounds a good idea, especially if I need to swim the swim of shame to recover my kite! Will keep a look out for suitable ponds in the meantime! Sent from my [device_name] using http://KiteLife mobile app
  13. "stake the kite & walk the lines parallel to the water line, pulling the kite gently (!) to the shore" Am I understanding this right? So the lines will be following the edge of the shoreline? I guess I thought I would need the lines at right angles to the shoreline to gradually walk the kite back out of the water? Confused (but everything else you said seems to make sense. Thanks!) 15. Having flown at the beach this weekend, I am feeling the need to start flying over water.... But don't want to lose a kite to the North Sea. I have seen videos of competent fliers going over and through water, but what do I need to know to do this successfully please? Was thinking of starting on my 30 foot lines, which I love.... And hopefully I won't have to swim out to far too recover any drowned quads! [emoji32] Sent from my [device_name] using http://KiteLife mobile app
  16. Hadn't thought of doing that. Thanks for sharing. Sent from my [device_name] using http://KiteLife mobile app
  17. Thanks! Been meaning to weigh mine for a while. Sent from my [device_name] using http://KiteLife mobile app
  18. Thanks Makatakam and Exult. Loads of thngs for me to try! When I tried Sketch-Up the other day, I couldn't find a way to see it only in 2D. I really only want it for drawing panel plans that I can then cut around. It kinda looked as though I might have to go for the paid version to be able to do that, but maybe I just need to spend more time exploring what it (and other packages) can do.
  19. Thanks! I like the fancy end cap! 😀 I had a quick look at Sketch-Up earlier today. Couldn't seem to produce 2D drawings on it, though? Will take a look at the other one you mention...
  20. I have made 3 four-line kites recently using hand-drawn templates, and would be interested in finding some computer software that would make this more easy to replicate. I am only ever going to be making the occasional kite for my own use, so any fancy, expensive CAD software is out. Wondering what others do? Have you found some cheap/free software that works for producing full-size drawings of kite outline and panel layout, and gives the option of including seam allowances? Or are hand-drawn templates the way to go? Thanks for any thoughts. J
  21. Thanks for the great replies! [emoji3] Sent from my E6653 using KiteLife mobile app
  22. At a recent clinic, JB said he doesn't use lineset sleeving on his indoor kite, and I thought he said he never uses sleeving (but I could be wrong). Does anyone not use sleeving on outdoor kites successfully? Sent from my E6653 using KiteLife mobile app
  23. Thanks Makatakam! Sent from my E6653 using KiteLife mobile app
  24. Haven't come across grosgrain before. How does it differ from dacron? Sent from my E6653 using KiteLife mobile app
