  1. Wingtip Tension Knots for Prism 4-D?

Thanks for your help everyone:) I knew I could depend of you guys! Really appreciate how helpful you all are. Wayne, I really like that bowline knot, that will come in handy for numerous things, thanks. One of my daughters and I just practiced it, think we've got the hang of it. SHBKF, phenomenal photo!!!! And too funny on the wife story. My daughter let the cat out of the bag and told hubby about the new kite;) But his suggestion for the wingtips, despite his knowledge of nautical knots, was, wait for it...duct tape;) And yes, the cord length is far from ample to get fancy. And thanks Rob, here's a picture of it. Looking forward to seeing you and your son one day at the beach:)

    Absolutely love this idea K.F.!
  3. Wingtip Tension Knots for Prism 4-D?

    I'm in New York
  4. Wingtip Tension Knots for Prism 4-D?

Thanks Wayne:) I am definitely lacking in confidence in the knots I've tried so far. I've tried a few ways and I keep thinking, gee, that will never hold;) Will keep on trying:)
  5. Wingtip Tension Knots for Prism 4-D?

You guys crack me up! Thank you for the storage advice:) Wayne, here's a pic of the area. Unfortunately, it no longer looks like this since I unknotted both sides so well;)
  6. Wingtip Tension Knots for Prism 4-D?

Just received the Prism 4-D, and as a newbie I only have the Quantum to compare it to in terms of assembly. The Quantum has super easy nocks and bungees to set the wingtip tension. The 4-D has an insert instead with some line that is wrapped around it to adjust and set the tension. Does anyone have an up close video of how to insert this tip onto the leading edge and then knot it up correctly to keep it in place? I looked on youtube, but I guess wingtips attachments vary greatly. I foolishly released the original knot to attach it to the leading edge, but I'm uncertain as how to re-do it. So I figured, hey. there's another leading edge, I can just model the knot off the one I didn't release yet. But lol, repeated my mistake on the other side. Am I overthinking this one? Should I just do a wrap/tuck under type of know to hold them in place? Maybe do something of the sort twice on each end? Thanks in advance:) One more question...where do I hide new kites from my husband;)
  7. Hi Deb, I ended up purchasing a Quantum, and have a 4-D on the way. Shhhh, don't tell my husband that I am now inquiring about your purple and green Prism Stylus;) I think it could be great fun for our 13 y/o twins without having to worry about breaking anything if they crash. I've been considering a Prism Synapse for them, so this could make for a great gift for them instead. What kind of condition is it in and does it come with lines? Could you please tell me how much you are asking? Thanks so much:)
  8. If Mommy Can't Share;)

Wayne, yes, it's coming with the 50' x 50# lines. Will play with those for a long time until I'm ready for shorter. Mental note to me, add shorter lines to wish list;) And Wayne and Breezin, wow, that is going to be hard to do with not pulling on the kite, but rather walking in and giving slack when faced with a potential crash. Science-wise, that totally makes sense, but I'm sure my instinct will be to pull. Thanks for the heads-up on that one, will try to get that ingrained:)
  9. If Mommy Can't Share;)

Great advice, will do Wayne:) Thanks! Just checked out the Kaiju, beautiful kite! I ordered the 4-D last night, we'll see how I make out with it once I get some time on the Quantum. But I foresee the collection growing;) For now, hopefully those 2 and the cheap "Amazon-special" foil will be enough. Looking forward to running into you at the beach. Hoping to make it there tomorrow, but we'll see what the day brings.
  10. If Mommy Can't Share;)

Thanks Wayne:) Looks like I will be re-purposing some longbow cases. The bows and the kites will have to take turns;) And yep, I added to my meager/newbie collection last night by ordering a Prism 4-D Tired of waiting for wind;)
  11. If Mommy Can't Share;)

Thanks again everyone:) K.F., I was giving some thought to you not breaking down your leading edges. I'm liking that, and I have a few longbow cases that could play double-duty as kites cases. Now to fill them with kites;) Rob, you may win the bet as to what my second kite will be. Someone stop me from buying the Prism 4-D;) Hey, it comes in purple. How can I not? But will I kill it? I know I should dedicate my newbie hours to the Quantum. I'm guessing the 4-D is whole lot more less forgiving.
  12. If Mommy Can't Share;)

Thanks for the kind words. Very much appreciate all the generosity in sharing knowledge and encouragement in this forum:)
  13. If Mommy Can't Share;)

Thanks John!! Excellent videos. Love your attention to all the details. The whole twist & remove and thumb methods really make sense now. Much appreciated:) And wow on that gorgeous beach!
  14. If Mommy Can't Share;)

I think I'll be getting a lot of use out of that feature;) Rob, what are your feelings about Prism's advice to attach the tail to those bungees? My gut says maybe I shouldn't have anything pulling on them, but maybe I'm being overprotective.
  15. If Mommy Can't Share;)

I also e-mailed Prism Kites this afternoon with my question about attaching the tail to the Quantum. Wanted to share their thoughts. But I'm kind of liking your advice on using some line to make a loop and piggy tail it through the webbing. Here's what Prism said- "Thanks for getting in touch! We generally suggest clipping the tube tail onto one of the two bungie cords at the tail end of the Quantum’s spine. It doesn’t really matter which of the bungies you clip on to, as they are both close enough to the center of the kite that it won’t affect how the kite flies."
