  1. Wow, Nationals!! Congrats going out to the team. Been busy with the new baby, she was born on August 12. Her name is Clara. Wishing the team all the best! Good winds and clear skies. A. and family
  2. I've been having some trouble snap stalling my E2. I am able to do stalls on the edge of the window and when the wind is right I can stall in the middle of the window. I have been able to do side-slides as well but whenever I try to do a snap stall the kite ends up in a backflip. Am I giving to much line at the end of the maneuver? I am flying in a horizontal pass to set it up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Yeah, I'm still around. I've been watching from the sidelines. But, I have had a rejuvenating weekend at the coast with the kites. So my bench-sitting days may be numbered.
  4. Hello John, This is a very interesting topic. Kudos going out to Jay for bringing it up. Would you say that by doing some precision work a person's ability to do tricks would be enhanced? Also, if all the kites a person owns are trick kites would you recommend that they work precision figures with these kites or invest in a more precision-oriented kite?
  5. How about TKS Spitfires or TKS Hurricanes?
  6. Hey Moon and John, If you guys ever need a ride out to Frenchman's Bar from Portland just let me know. I will be going out for the fun fly's on the 3rd Sunday and probably to every Tuesday fly at 5:30. What about "The Spitfires" or "Theresa's Hurricanes" for your team name? Amy
  7. Hey, Does anyone know of some good places to fly in the Gorge? It seems like there would be. But maybe there are too many trees. Thanks Amy
  8. Hello out there, How about some articles devoted to beginners? There could be sections on different types of kites, like revs., codys, and fighters. Or articles on the simple basic stuff. Or how to get ready for your first competition? Just some thoughts. Amy
  9. Hello out there, I was reading a kiting book over the weekend and I came to a section on how wrist straps can cause Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. The book was published in 1988, entitled Stunt Kites, ed. by David Gomberg. Do all straps have this problem? How can I use my straps without causing damage to my wrists? How common is this problem? Is is better to use handles? Amy
  10. Wow, thanks for all the responses to my question! I would love to come out and fly on the 19th. Can I just drop by at around 11:00? It is great to find people who understand my fascination with kiting. Most people look at me like I'm some sort of freak. "You want to spend how much on that kite?!!" They just don't understand! Is indoor kiting for experts or can beginners try it? Can you fly in the rain? Thanks! Have a great day!
  11. Hi, this is my first posting. I started flying dual line in July after my twin daughters died. I want to fly all the time but the wind is not always strong enough. What do other flyers do? Do you purchase different kites for different situations? Ultralights for zero wind days? Do you purchase different weights of lines to extend the kite you have? I live in Portland, Oregon so I am not too far from some awesome wind on the coast, but I can't drive two hours every day to get to it. I have gone to a small field at a local middle school but the experience was very frustrating because of the turbulence. The kite that I am starting on is an Ignitor. I have seen some other postings that say that this is not the best kite to work with. I upgraded the stock lines with Spectra but I am wondering if I am wasting my time with it. I have been eyeing the Nexus recently. Should I ditch the Ignitor for the Nexus? Thanks!
