  1. I had a couple of 4ft back in the late 80s/early 90s. One had a defect. Flexifoil replaced it with out any question what so ever, immediately. Their quality is absolutely superior. I also had several 6 ft which I stacked and really enjoyed the most. I no longer have any of the 4ft or 6ft, but I do have a 10ft, which I have never flown. It was given to me, practically new. GREAT KITES!
  2. Thanks Guys! All the tabs are mostly up-to-date now with the big exception of "Masterpiece". I need inputs from all of those who have "Masterpiece" REVs. I do need to add in thenewest REV 1.5's that are either coming out soon or are out. Then I need to work on the B2. JM
  3. Only a guess... Mike Mossman? He's so talented! I really don't remember the name of the person. That is why I am asking. If I saw the name I think I would recognize it. I remember he was bunking in the same room as Ray Bethell, myself and two other guys, one of which was from Belgium and played drums in the evening.
  4. Does anyone know who(from the USA) made this kite and was flying it a the Cervia International Kite Festival in April, 2004?
  5. I am in full agreement. There shouldn't be any change to the original rules.
  6. How about those who's guess date has expired more then 5 days being allowed a new guess. But that is changing the original rules as would a cut off guess date.
  7. Not a bad time span. Before you, you have someone with 10:00 11 Dec and behind is 16:20 13 Dec. I am out of the game. Good Luck!
  8. Have you made out your last will? A completely vented REV II should be okay.
  9. It's going to get real tight on 4 December. Knoted4ever at 18:00 6:00PM Jesse Stickley at 19:30 7:30PM Mushkin at 20:00 8:00PM Blondie at 21:48 9:48 PM
  10. Now my guessed time has passed so my chances are now getting less and less.
  11. Well I have run across a situation with a lady friend whom the doctors swore she was going to have a girl. A healthy boy appeared.
  12. 2:30 AM USA PST time. Written as 02:30 is using the 24 hour clock, note the "0" before the "2", which is common to Europe and most of the world, thus it is USA 2:30 AM. 2:30 PM would be 14:30 on the 24 hour clock. I specified PST(Pacific Standard Time) to be more specific to the time zone which I think you are located in.
  13. My wild guess is: 20 November at 02:30 PST. Let us guess, a boy or a girl? Hmm?
  14. By saying "breaks cleanly along the gold tape". Are you referring along the rod or across the rod. If it is along the rod, off hand, I would guess that something crushed the rod before the REV was flown. If it is across the rod, then I would guess it got a sharp blow from something. Was the rod used a lot? Was it new? If so was this the first flight? A clear photo of the break would be helpful.
  15. What you are asking for is something that is normally not stocked by a dealer nor do I suspect they have it listed in their price list. They would have to check this out with Revolution before they can give you a straight forward answer. I can tell you right now, neither of the two mentioned stores serve their customers poorly, but are well known to serve their customers exceptionally well.
  16. Seems the videos might have changed over the years. I will have to get my hands on one of the new ones and have a look. The rods definitely go on the back and I tend to rotate the upper end caps so that the knot of the bungee points to the center of the sail, not outwards. You should also check that all bridle points at end caps come directly out of the end cap and are not wrapped around the end cap thus shortening that point of the bridle.
  17. I have flown the Supersonic and Shockwave but never bought either. They only gave me a short thrill and little challenge. I bought one of the first Blast. It is nice to fly, however not that thrilling to me. It has spent most of the time packed away and looked brand new the last time I saw it. Basically, it is not my favorite. I fly both the REV I, REV 1.5, NoWind and sometimes a REV II. I recommend trying out another REV in this category and see which one you enjoy. Then buy!
  18. Did you receive a video with your REV? I know the earlier videos did explain in detail how to install all rods.
  19. First, the SLE is not really the beginners REV. The EXP is the beginners REV 1.5 and less expensive. The reasoning behind Revolution offering the package without lines has a lot to do with the dealers requesting this. Many dealers offer their own line sets possibly from the same mfr or another. Dealers often make up their own line sets from bulk thus saving them a lot of money which they can pass on to the buyer. They can often offer you from cheap low-end spectra lines to high-end expensive lines. I always recommend high-end lines as the cost to life ratio is very well worth it.
  20. It is really up to you what you order. Revolution offers all of their kites with or without lines and/or handles. What more can they do? As I do have several Revolution kites, lines and handles, I have no need for extra lines and/or handles with each new REV, I order. Thus, I choose to buy only the kite.
  21. thanks for the clear guidelines. Could you explain a bit more on the "throw handles" I'm using the handles that came with my 1.5 B serie not sure what kind they are. Long throw handles I refer to being about 15". Using 15" handles with normal connections on the pig tails, if you have them, are usually sufficient to yank the rev out of the sky with out having to pull the upper lines with you fingers. For shorter handles to do the same you will have to shorten the upper lines by moving the upper line connections towards you on the handles. This would of course hinder reverse. This is all relative to my normal connections on the upper lines.
  22. If you throw it right and the wind is cooperative, 100ft is not a problem. My technique is: (right-handed version, because I am right-handed) - hold both handles in the left hand. - check the ground to insure the lines are free, primarily of your feet. - check that the lines from the bridle flow freely to the ground, not wrapped on tips or something. - hold the leading edge in your left hand at about the center, facing left, over the handles. - point the REV in the direction the wind is blowing. - place your right hand on the right outer wind tip. This is your throwing hand. - bring your right arm back like you would throw a javelin. - the angle up from the ground you will have to determine for yourself. It will be anywhere 10 to 40 degrees. - throw it into the wind. For training, I would suggest practicing the toss "without" lines until you have the toss right. It is much easier then constantly sorting out the lines. For the catch, I prefer to use long throw handles. I just yank them back at the right time. Other techniques are pulling on the top two lines. This works best on standard handles. The idea is to fly the REV straight up to a point where it feels like it is almost floating. It won't go to this point every time, just some of the time. When you get it to this point, just yank it out of the sky using the upper lines. When it is coming down to your hand, be prepared to jump over it in case you are too late getting to it. When you grasp it, grasp it gently in order to prevent any damage to the leading edge or sail.
  23. I have flown, competed and judged in the rain. I've even felt the electricity in the air when I touched the metal on my REV handles. Wet kites are not the nicest things. They are quite sluggish and heavy in flight. When you finish flying them, dry them off as so as possible. Polyester in particular has been known to transfer darker colors to lighter colors when wet. This most often happens when the sails are left together wet until they dry or almost dry. This seems to have improved with the new polyester materials, but to count on it. Lines, I don't worry to much about them. Just take them out of your kite bag when you get home and let them air dry out. I have not had any problems with lines stretching more when they are wet, but they do tend suck up wet sand. So try to wipe as much sand as possible off the lines as you wind them up. If there is any hint of electricity in the air, pack up and get out of there.
  24. I have been ordering from GWTW since the mid 90s. There have been at least 20 orders involved and I never had a problem. Orders were always filled on time and arrived on time. My last order was for a 500ft roll of 90# Shanti line. They called and said they did not have it on stock. Would I accept two prepared sets of Shanti dual lines at 120ft and 90# with winders at a fraction of the normal price. Two days later I had the lines. I dealt with another shop in Pittsburg a few years ago for two Revolution UFOs. No problems at all. They even contacted me later to find out if I received the package and was I happy with it. I forget the name of the shop. I also have bought, in shop, from Kite Country in San Diego. No problems at all and the prices are really good.
