  1. Happy New Year to all my kite friends.   True to form, it is another holiday with rain for the entire long weekend.  For me, 2020 has been a crappy year for kite flying.  I’m hoping 2021 will be better.  In the meantime, I’ll be in front of my sewing machine trying to improve my kite building.  Hope this year brings more kites and good flying to all of you.

  2. I finally got my Djinn out to fly.  Winds were a little light and gusty and it wasn’t a flight worth an audience.  But it felt good.  Hopefully when the temperatures start to cool down to a more moderate level, I will be flying it more.

  3. I was wondering.  How many viewers actually look at the Kitelife blog posts?  I post a link in my Kitelife  blog Each time I add to my kite flying blog.  Does anyone really use the link and read the blog?  Is it worth  my time to keep on doing it?

  4. Beaches are closed.  Supplies are limited (I.e. paper products, meat, milk, bread, etc.).  While those of us who live here at the coast stay home and are unable to go to the beach, people who have second homes are flocking from the urban areas to get away from the virus and spent time on the beach.  Since we are a vacation economy (motels, hotels, condos, restaurants), my guess is 70-80% of the permanent residents are unemployed.  I’m afraid a lot of local businesses won’t make it.

We are using the time to catch up on yard work and landscaping.  I am trying to do some kite building and find an empty field with decent wind and no power lines to put up something.  If there are no further blog posts or updates, I have been arrested for trespassing.

  5. My Djinn arrived today.  Earlier than I expected and a day earlier than the posted arrival day.  It is gorgeous (even if I do say so myself).  Thank you so much, John!  I love it!,

  6. I store mine in bags, on end, in my craft room.  Each bag is labeled for what it contains - delta kites, dual line stunt kites, single line kites, vintage kites, art kites, kites I’ve built, low/no wind kites.
