  1. Old thread I know...but sweet story Pete, thanks.
  2. Just wondering if anyone has an App for use on an Iphone that works well for you and is accurate? There appear to be some available but hard to know how useful and accurate they are. Thanks.
  3. Thanks, tried Google and Amazon but found no real details. The only problem with "reading it", is buying it. Always watching the budget...especially at this time of year.
  4. Reef, that was a beautiful kite, really like the colors. I've always wanted one of Dan's deltas myself. I know you have somting in-coming, but just wondering if you pled your case to Dan (or directed him here) if he would just sell you a new sail? I'm sure I'm not the only person here who has done this; but one time I was able to lift a kite out of a tree by flying another of my kites under the first string and lifting it. Of course that too was pretty risky and I could have lost both...but it worked. Probably pushing my luck to try it ever again.
  5. Just what talents and skill does one need to take full advantaage of this weekend? I don't sew, I don't have a sewing machine but have been flying for 35 years and not against learning a new skill. However, I wouldn't want to waste time and money if you really should be at a certain skill level to understand, appreciate and function well in this group. Thanks.
  6. Hi, Looking for some good reading and stumbled across Tal Streeter's book, The Philosopher's Kite. Apparently it is stories and essays by Tal but I'm just wondering about the content and if anyone can shed any light on it for me. http://www.drachen.org/books/philosopher%E2%80%99s-kite Thanks.
  7. My grandfather owned a Texaco station back in the 50s. My first kite was probably around 1957, it was a Hi-Flyer light green Texaco diamond kite made of paper. I think I got a second one becuase as you might guess, paper kites in the hands of small children didn't last too long. However back then...you could find a kite field just about anywhere, sadly not so today.
  8. Flew mine today. It hung like a rock in the sky, a special kite. Excuse the photo quality...took with my Iphone.
