I had this hoodie in the good will pile but I couldn't resist wearing it on my first flight with my new Revolution!
  3. Flew my Rev B-Pro mid-vent today. https://www.flickr.com/gp/basicbill/6536H8 Bill
  4. Simple question. What kite festivals are on your list to attend? Are you going to just watch or fly? Even compete? SLK's, stunters, quads, freestyle, precision or a little of everything? Do you piggy back festivals that are close both geographically and time wise?
  5. I've been doing a fair bit of urban/street kiting on my Revs recently and I thought I might be able to share some tips. Feel free to chime in with what works for you. Pick your area. Clean air isn't important, in fact it adds an element of excitement. Cars and people MUST be considered, law suits can eat up future kite purchases. Consider street lights if going out at night. Obstacles like trees, shrubs can be detrimental but signs, bike racks and playground equipment are a plus! It never hurts to have a look around before you pull any gear out. Pick your equipment. Buildings can both cause a wind shadow and a wind funnel. Distances of free space will affect your line length. Pick your time. Watch out for midnight watering schedules. Or even early morning deliveries. Most importantly is to be safe about it.
  6. I have an unused 60" blue/gray Into The Wind kite bag that I purchased with the intent of using but never did. Would just like $30 + $6 shipping in the US.
  7. So recently I aquired a set of Shanti Skybond 100'x100# quads. I told myself in the beginning...I would fly both major makers and form my own views on what I liked. So no better time than now! I have flown a full year or so with LPG, different weights and lengths..so time for a change. I have about 50 hours or so on this Skybond set. I have to say that I am liking them. After flying opk with Skybond lines, my interest peaked even more... good timing as I am in need of all lenghts and weights again. My initial thoughts were super slippery. The coating used is great so far. A little color fade...but the set has been in the ocean completely for many hours...I swim and fly or float and fly. .hit sandbars...etc... I hope in the long term...this coating holds up, I dig it. Almost has waterproof properties when wet...sheds water very quick. On the plus side....no clumped up sandy lines when winding up Smaller diameter line compared to Lpg..which equated to less drag and a more direct feeling between me and the kite...almost like running a lighter weight line. I am tickled "yellow" so far and looking for the long term picture as I begin the switch..... I only have 1 gripe with LPG in the end...longevity. I have been wearing out sets at alarming rates...even with regular rotation.up and down..and switching ends. So we will see what transpires from a change this year... What do you fly and why? If you fly Skybond already.... what's your comparison to LPG?
  8. Hello everyone, My name is Rita and I'm studying anthropology. I'm writing a paper on technics and I picked kiting. I don't want to bother your community on this forum but would be extremely thankful if some of you could tell me why you started flying, how did you come to it at the first place and what does it mean to you now ? I find this utterly beautiful that humans persist kiting for centuries. Do you all link flying a kite with flying ? Thank you for your time and good flights Rita

  13. My Wind Stuff will be hosting the first Family Kite Festival in Wakefield NE at the High School at 802 Highland St. , October 16,17,18 . We will start a short demo show on Friday afternoon up until the Hot Air Balloons launch around 4:30 then continue all day Saturday and most of the day Sunday. We will be displaying many large promotional pieces as well as teaching dual line and quad line basics . We always have a large selection of kites on hand for sale as well as offering kite repairs for most brands. Their should be plenty of space to fly even during the balloon launches in separate fields. The community ìs having a parade , craftshow , car show , 5k run/walk . Wakefield is not too far from Souix City Iowa or Omaha Nebraska , this is a great opportunity to come and show off your kites and flying talents to a community that sees very little kite flying. Let's help inspire these folks to the great world of Kiting! Free admission !Contact Curt at My Wind Stuff 785-483-1309 for additional information.
  14. I recently acquired this level one vented kite . I am seeking additional information about it. Model , specs , value etc..., very unique too me , and appears very well made and in great shape. Any information is appreciated.

Kite vendor on hand for sales and we also offer repairs for almost every make of kite. Contact Curt at 785-483-1309 . 16. I have been quite busy....and embarrassed I have not done more than basic shares with this yet. Stay tuned. I had 3 short runs while there. A few really challenging moments with soooooooooo many kites in the air. Big lifters...a gajillion homemade kites flying on anything that could be used for flying line. Quite an experience... Even met some kite fliers from KiteLife that I didn't know about...from the Caribbean. Do the search.....you will be very impressed at some kite flying in different parts of the world...the competition and goals of competing are very different from what we see The clear box kite and crew are the ones I am referring to..they made this kite, along with some of the night kites in the hotel lobby. no test...launch it baby...let's see what it does! Awesome! I was so stoked to have a camera in the air Until then..... Enjoy some KAP photos from Cartagena, Colombia https://flic.kr/s/aHskiH8SfQ

  18. Bear Lake North Shore Kite Festival I’d like to let everyone know that we will be starting up a new kite festival to take place at Bear Lake in Idaho. Date and Time: 8/15 and 8/16/2015 from 10am until 6pm. Location: North shore of Bear Lake in Idaho (near St Charles ID) at the Bear Lake State Park http://www.bearlakekitefestival.org This is a great location to fly kites. The lake is about 20 miles by 3 miles with bright blue water. This time of year the water is low so the beach area is huge. The park also allows people to drive right down on the beach so you can drive right up to the flying field both days. The park is waiving the $5/day fee as long as you let them know you are there to fly kites (celebrating the Park and Recreation’s 50 year anniversary). There will be a flying field open for multi-line flying and demos as well as plenty of room on the beach for any/all single line kites. We will be giving kites away to the first 70 kids each day. We will have music playing all day long on both days. Please consider attending and supporting this new kite venue and event and let me know if you have any questions!

  21. Mike, Rose and Steve, three members of the 180 GO! Revolution kite flying team, perform with their personal kites over and near a 360 degree video camera at Montrose Beach in Chicago, Illinois. We had a small group from the Illinois Kite Enthusiasts http://www.ikeclub.org show up on March 28 at frozen Montrose Beach. I placed my 360 video camera about 8 inches off the sand and asked Mike, Rose and Steve to fly their Revs in the area. The camera perspective and optics makes it appear that they were flying a distance away. For much of the time they had the kites within about 25 feet. The final landing was about 3 feet from the camera. It's great to fly with these folks. They are very helpful to a beginner like myself. Letting me jump into the group and do whatever I feel that I can do. And yet gently nudge me to do better. That's me off to the side with my spiral. Airborne for a few seconds until I decided to just watch the masters. More photos: https://www.facebook.com/events/1595871713961606/ Bill
