R-Sky

Recommended Posts

I was just watching a video on YouTube. Yuki&Suki I think was the name. They were flying the R-Sky Nirvana's. Toward the end, one or the other breaks a lower spreader right next to the outer most stand off. I'm wondering if this is common? I am just absolutly smittin with the Nirvana and the Next. So I was wondering if it might be a good idea to put at least a single wrap of the packing tape with the strings in it around where the stand off holders are? If nothing else, when or if the rod does break at the fitting the tape should hold the rod. Maybe it would be less of a worry about punching a rod through the sail? Noticed that alot of the kites nowwa days seem to have a little more tension on the lower spreaders. That probably causes a break to move away from the sail, or not? Just curious, I don't have to worry about such things with the MEFM as there is NO pressure on the lower spreaders even if you are extremly aggressive. Light or high wind.

P.S. Mr. Greenway's videos have inspired me to find a way come hell or high water to buy either the Nirvana or the Next. So heads up, not that you'll probably ever meet my wife, but I'm probably going to blame it on an impulse buy because of what the guy does in his videos. :w00t::devil:;)

Thats good to hear. LMFAO, I broke the spine at the center T fitting on my Illusion today with less than 5mph winds. ;) Not sure how it happened, as there was absolutly no wear on the spine at all. All I did was a cartwheel onto a tip stand and the sail looked funny so I set it down and went to look and well.... the spin was broke.

I haven't spent less that 300 on any kite I own except for the Prism Ion I started with. I'm going to buy a new kite. But since I buy kites that'll grow with me it won't be cheap. I like the Sky Sport line, but I like the R-Sky line too. Wait for one to be made, or buy one when I get the dollars. Damned if I do, damned if I don't. Feels like one of those things.

Seeing Mr. Haoc, John B. and Tristan flying the Sky Sport kites intrigues me to think I could do that. But after seeing Randy G. and Mr. Debray flying the R-Sky's I really think those could be the kites to make me look better than I am too. LOL, I'll just have to wait till I get the dollars and decide if I want to wait or not. :w00t:

And to all those that own each of these kites, I'd like to hear some opinions on the kites. Maybe like something you were having problems with or took alot of effort with another kite and making the switch to a Sky Sport or R-Sky made what ever it was easier or possible.

And if anyone with a Sky Sport (RxBurner), how long is the wait in having the Sea Devil or Fearless made to order?

My mind isn't entirely made up yet between Sky Sport or R-Sky. I'm sure it'll be one of the two. Since I probably won't have the oppurtunity to fly either or before I buy one all I have to make up my mind is the input in this forum and the videos online. So far R-Sky seems to have more videos that are really impressive.

One thing that is a consideration on the topic of which one, is that I prefer to fly the line. By that I mean for instance, Sky Sport I would probably want to have the V.I.P. for indoors, Fearless for light wind, Sea Devil Std. and the Vented Sea Devil or Fearless. Thats just the way I've always been.

Hope ya all don't mind braggin' about your kites ;)

Mid-vent Sea Devil, SO awesome... I'm not a huge fan of the full vented, feels mushy to me.

But then again, I've only flown a couple of vents in the last 18 years that didn't feel mushy.

It's tricky to get venting right, and mid-vents are generally the only way to retain that performance when you start cutting holes.

Sea Devil Standard ready to go....in The Shoppe right now....black nylon sail

Fearless build time? Depends on Lam's schedule and if he's in front of the sewing machine....usually about 2 weeks.

VIP.....he says he's done building the VIP

but I can add your name to a list if you are serious. Let me know.

Hey Dean

Did you decide on a kite? :D

When we met in October at Lincoln City I don't remember you flying anything but the REV.

I think you did try my SUL Sea Devil but didn't know you were thinking of buying one.

Lam was there and I even tried his Fearless UL all Black :) . I think my next kite will be the Fearless UL cuz it willl go up to 15-18mph.

Hope to see you again sometime :)
