Two Kitemandu Predator kites.

Al Smith on the left, myself on the right.

WoW!

Did you ever measure the wing span?

Wow! :P

T

Wingspan is 14 1/2 ft and 6 ft. tall.

Sparred with hollow fiberglass 505 spars and 1 1/2 ounce material.

Makes a lot of noise.

We attached a ripstop nylon tail to each of the" t " fittings with a bungee cord.

When the tail became taut, it vibrated and made a noise which sounded like water pouring onto a piece of plywood.

Have flown a stack of four but could not turn them. Too much pull.

Three was a handful.

Ah, the good old days of kiting when I was younger. :)

Now those are the good old days..... Designer and maker Ron Bell.... Kitemandu kites....

Wow... blast from the past... I owned a 1100 that he made and I think it was called the 900... oh yes.. Leather Nose and all... Big fishing clips on the bridle ends to attach your flyin line too... heehee...

They were GReat to fly.... at some point I will have to scan all my old photos in... Me (at 13 or so) and Steve Brown... side by side at the Fathers Day kite festival in Comox.... Water up to our hips.... and flyin 1100s and landing and sinking them in the water... I forget what year it was .. 92?????

Thanks so much for sharing Jim...
