One thing that I have learned is to always post a problem before I get to fixing it , because usually there is a better way that others know about.

On the first Rev. that I bought, which has seen some very heavy use, I noticed that there is a slit in the meshing along the leading edge about 2" long. I was thinking of hand sewing the mesh back to the LE material by looping the thread through each square in the mesh, below the cut, and back through the edge of the LE material.

Any better ideas on how to repair the slit?

If you've got a sewing machine, then use it with a zig-zag stitch or a 3-step sig-zag. Do use some good poly thread ... cotton is a no-no!!!

If it's a more extensive repair, then you might be interested in this posting by Jim Foster on our IKE site. Jim and Lynn Foster make some very beautiful Rev-like kites.

Thought I'd post my quick repair for small rips (slits) in the leading edge screening (mesh)...

I recently experimented with this easy repair method, and have flown it several times since and found it to work just great!

I have a well-used full-vent Rev which has been flown for several years and suffered several small (1"-1-1/2") horizontal slits in the leading edge mesh. I was originally going to replace the full length of the mesh (or sew a mesh patch) but thought I'd try this and see IF it worked...and it did!

Using a piece of scotch-tape under the mesh to hold the tear tight and in place, I applied a thin coat of super glue, waited a few seconds, then used a cotton Q-tip swab to press the damaged area in place and to also remove any excess glue. I allowed the glue to set well and dry (a few minutes) then slowly removed the tape.

The repaired slit is nearly invisible and has held well.
