I recently acquired a Nebula by Ron Phipps. Has anyone flown this kite? What are your impressions of this kite? I love the appearance and I've been told it is a great all-around kite for precision and tricks. I'm not into tricks but I think this may be a great ballet kite. It is signed by Ron and is numbered 120738. Does anyone know how to decipher the number? If the heat ever breaks, I will get out and fly it.

Thanks for any information anyone may have.

I have a full set of Nebulas, but they were made by Erv Crosby. They're very special to me because he made them for me just before he passed away... I think they may be the last kites he made.
They are more geared for the tricking, but I think they can cut a corner and fly a straight line. They are a little quicker, though, because they're not full sized.

Rob, I have one as well... I'm guessing yours and mine were the last 4 made by Erv.

Do either of you know how the numbering system on the kite can be deciphered? The numbers on mine are 120738. Is there a date in there somewhere? Or a production number?

Hey there...
My best guess to those numbers would be the 38th Nebula made in December 2007. Like I said... just a guess....
Post a picture of it if you get a chance, the Nebula was real hot for a little while, but then interest for it disappeared. The only other one I've seen is the Four Winds demo kite...

I finally got to try out this kite the other evening. The winds were light and it was getting dark fast. I was totally blown away at how this kite handled. No pull but I didn't feel at all disconnected. Punch turns were sharp and tracking was true. Now my punch turns are very sloppy but the Nebula made me look good. And I even completed a square without panicking on the lower corner. LOL I'm just starting to learn precision figures.

I really like this kite.
