Video Kite Tutorials (free and premium)
One of our ongoing projects is the creation of essential video sport kite tutorials that appeal to both hard core fliers and beginners alike… The tutorials you’ll find here are very casual in nature but generally VERY detailed and specialized, from kite basics on up through master techniques so that viewers can learn and improve their kite flying at a comfortable, yet efficient speed.
- Most of our outdoor tutorials are picture-in-picture (PIP), showing both kite and hands at work.
- While we favor certain kite models, the tutorials will translate to any other comparable kites.
One on one instruction is available via JohnBarresi.com!
Every one of our tutorials is made with care, focusing on descriptions and terminology that almost anyone can understand and readily adapt to their kite flying needs, regardless of their level of experience.
Just a few of the many glowing testimonials we’ve received:
I first watched the hover and line management videos that were available free. I was impressed with the quality of the videos and how well the picture in picture worked! These totally hooked me and I knew I needed to have these videos in my personal collection. John’s method for learning the inverted hover was key to me *FINALLY* getting it!

This certainly should cut-down on my walk(s) of shame! Thanks JB! Great Tips!

I find it a bit scary that I just spent 10 minutes watching a video on winding and unwinding lines. Still deciding if I should admit I liked it. I’m definitely not going to admit I learned something. Now if I can just avoid hitting Enter by accident no one need ever know.

While our videos may feature other fliers, the primary instructor is John Barresi:
I really enjoy flying anything with more than one line on it, and sometimes just one… End of the day though, one of the most enjoyable aspects of kiting that I’ve experienced over the past several years has been getting more knowledge and information out there to fliers, watching them spread their wings and find some of the same joy I’ve found in the pastime.

While we’re passionate about creating tutorials such as these, it takes a significant amount of time and effort to plan the narration, find good venues for video, do repetitive filming, video editing, uploading and organizing… We work the make the essential (beginner) tutorials available to anyone free of charge, but restrict intermediate and advanced tutorial access to our official Kitelife subscribers.
We wouldn’t be able to continue without to the support of our loyal Subscribers… If you find our services, archives and mission valuable to yourself and the kiting community, please consider signing up today. It may not seem like much, but every subscriber makes a tremendous difference!

As of this writing, we still have over 75 more topics on the “to do” list for new tutorials, both dual and quad line, indoors and out… For us, it’s just a matter of time and having reasonable conditions in which to film and illustrate the various skills.
If you’d like to be notified of new kite tutorials, be sure to connect with us through our email list, Facebook or Twitter… In the meantime, if you enjoy the resources here at Kitelife, we heartily encourage you to become an official subscriber – we couldn’t do all of this without the support of folks like yourself.
