Kites in the trunk

large.enough_kites.jpg.48dc933f9cea8dc13Other fliers talk about their “A bag, B bag, Rev roll up bag, single line bag” and so on.  This is what’s usually in the trunk of my car.  The Cruze is a fairly small car with a trunk you’d expect.  If you want to carry large dualies with the leading edge tubes together you have to lower the rear seat back to let them poke through.  So you can see I have the Quantum & the Zephyr broken down.  The 4D is in a 3D case that allows full length storage.  You would also notice I like Prism kites.  Four of these kites were among the first kites I bought three years ago.  The 75’ tube tail, the Quantum & the Bora 7 are fairly recent.  With this selection of kites I can fly just about any wind & mood I might encounter.  Sometimes the Revolution Roll-up bag is in the trunk & it fits nicely but that’s another topic.  These are the kites that are always with me & they may be enough.  I would not be unhappy if they were the only ones I had.  For a while they were my main kites.  But it is still a substantial investment as this collection of kites cost almost exactly eight hundred dollars.  So my “A bag” consists of fancier kites but these are always ready, just in case.   SHBKF                              (specifications in comments below)

My Rev bag is almost always in my trunk, ready to use!!

Zen, SUL, STD, MID, F/V, X/V, and my 1st Rev 1, along with various lines and handles, are at the ready. Indoor gear goes as needed, as does the "street" gear! Although I have been adding my old Indoor to my Rev bag more often for those really windless days!

And don't let this get around - but I do have several dualies, (but we won't get into that)!

Thanks for the comments.  Long work hours have kept me quiet for some time now.  I need to awaken from my winter slumber & soar in the stormy skies.  Yesterday morning I smelled spring on the way.  Later the robins in the yard confirmed it.  SHBKF

owned odyssey vans for years(3rd~2016) so all the crap can accompany me, usually drive if given a choice, prefer to drive actually, then I know I have the "right stuff". I carry the long Orvis case with 8 1point5s, from Bazzer'sPro SULs(3) to 135%Shook high wind equalizer, another bag has 3 Zens, a B2 and a map tube case of indoor orcon-sailed quads by Ash worth. A big portable power pack, the Bose sound system, a couple of dozen safety cones, a sand cart, tarps and mini-rev banners, naturally extra layers, both waterproof & wicking. Lights for night flying and team radios, sun screen & various insect repellents, my folding cane/3 legged stool, probably a cooler w/Barbara lunch too!

the van gets great mileage on the hwy 6/3cylinder and it is like driving a recliner for comfort and roominess, plenty of ports and accessory outlets, sheepskin covers and weather tech mats,.... Plus MY schedule!!!

The van organizes all my crap in the back of 4 comfy seats and loads up quick if everything isn't in there already

its tough to get on plane and know I forgot something important due to baggage restrictions, but it is the only times I ever travel "light".
