It begins

So it's four in the morning, cold & raining here in the mountains of Virginia.  And I am reading KiteLife & thinking about kites.  I thought kites might be an interesting thing to get into again a few years ago.  Knew they were an old passion but did not think they would dominate me as they have.  So now, for what it's worth, I will attempt to have a place to ramble on about my thoughts & efforts along the way.

Just got back from an extended beach trip.  Even the beach has less than great conditions many days but all the inland flailing I've done payed off & flight was continuously possible out on the sand.  Got some new kites but did not fly them.  Flew vented kites the first few days & then SUL's as the conditions changed.   But that's past & I think I will just talk about the moments of kite flying as they occur.  Later....

Ok Ralph, so what's up with this, "did not fly the new kites" ?

I'm headed that way, the day after Christmas.  Probably won't be great flying conditions then, either !  I'm not particularly fond of flying in cold and windy conditions.  I'm more of a warm and windy flyer.....:)

And what's up with this new forum format ???

It was Windows 2000, and now it's Windows 10, inevitable changes in software - never popular, but folks will miss this new one after 5 more years when we're forced to upgrade yet again. :)

Nick,

The first new kite was a much longed for Prism Tensor 3.1 meter power kite & not appropriate for occupied beach flying.  The second one was a new Prism Bora 7.  It's a single line foil with a long tail.  The wind went light & I did not have enough to launch it except on the morning I left.  Ironic wind strikes again.  The third kite, another Prism, was one I picked out for my Christmas gift so I was not allowed to fly it.  This new forum format kind of stalled me for a bit but now it's on.  This notebook will switch to Win 10 but we are keeping our business network on Win 7 until software or support forces us to change.

Hey John, I wasn't complaining.  Yes, I'm old, and I hate change, but evolution happens.......  Not a problem, and I'm sure we'll all adapt :)  Carry on my friend - carry on !

Me too, on Ralph.  He's apt to fly an anvil !

Oh, and sorry about the comment concerning the forum.  I didn't realize that it had been a problem.  Hey, it's a forum, and it's a new platform, so big deal.  I'm on several other forums with this exact same, "new" format.  Do I really like them - well, not exactly, yet - and I've told them so.  Who did I use as a good example of a forum - Kitelife - Oh well, that goes to show how much I'm keeping up.  I'm just glad we are all still here - and the forum is kool - no problems here, just a surprise.

Carry on............we'll get over it !
