  2. Fighter kite flying enables closer interaction with others. Most flying is of course pretty solitary. Wished more people would engage. A kite can be made and ready to have a blast with in 30 minutes. Most material on hand already. many fly pretty good for homemade kites. Give it a try it Will put a grin on your face Fight On Michael
  3. Hi Riffclown. That was a very informative and thought out response You enlighted me to reasons that step is important and like you said not much more work for the benefit I just started sewing only antique singer from yard sale. Replace tension spring work ok. I didn't understand about the refractive part . I see the stretch issue I'll will pay closer attention to alignment because a lot of time invested in build. Do you make many? Love any input no pattern on first 2 just looked at some kiteplans.org and went to town turned out to trick well in good hands not mine! Using the same clx 150 rods on quad. Think middle center should be a little stronger. Looked at Fulcrum details and all 3 versions seem to use stiffer center. Kit an kite andfunthings great prices has quad kits for rev1.5 all same size cxl 150-350. Any input appreciate! Thanks again Michael marmarasmichael@gmail.com
  4. Hi Mebeatee. Just thought about how I see things I agree about stalls and crashing. I am new to tricks Only fly micron stormy Pete and baby tana ( my fav.) Been taped together and feurrelled often so these don't really trick. The 2 line 8 footers were flown by a very good pilot yesterday and way exceeded both our expectations. His twerking bridle guessed that Crashed crazy hard and can't believe didn't break. Only p200 rods and 150s. Stalls still elude me l can axel ok? Decided to do a quad UL after giving finish sail away on Another. Making something like a Fulcrum with 4 stand offs and parabolic sail geometry Don't know what l am doing but it's fun and rewarding when they fly good. Thanks for post. Probably won't comment on that subject again just mixing it up fly on and hopefully up. Michael

  8. Am really enjoying your site. Again sorry about a few of my not so nice comments Michael
  9. Building a stunt kite seemed intimidating to me but went all in expecting very little. First no pattern just scetch an outline on cardboard and cut away. Forget about all the talk about bias of fabric aligning properly Heard expert about importance of fsdric edge align ment and not very much impact on performance. Grab some spars good fabric and like me improvise on connectors and fittings. Tubing plastic clothes changers s.o. etc. My first looked unprofessional but flew way better than I could have imagined It is fun and rewarding plus save a lot of money. Try it not much to loose. Sew away. Michael marmarasmichael@gmail.com
  10. I have an IL2K that I would be willing to part for $200.00 including shipping. If you are interested I can assembly it and send photos. Steve Thayer, estspadottowelch@aol.com

  12. Hi Michael here My parents grew up in Boston I lived in Springfield and. Medford. Aunt still in Medford next to college. My dad's house he grew up in a triplex sold for 3 million. Craziest realestate prices.Cant afford to live there compared to cheap Chattanooga TN. Share your kite interests some time. Have a good one. Michael marmarasmichael@gmail.com
  13. Hi Michael here. Thanks for insight. Working on a UL now. The cxl 150 aren't really light enough for true UL but are strong er than I thought. Just home from playing with Chuck, kite shop owner who is closest to expect flyer I know. Was impressed with responsiveness of first 2 builds both ,8 ft around 8.5 oz using cxl 150 I had 2 very hard crashes and didn't break. Loose wing tip binge helped because spars came apart instead. They only weigh 12.5 g and 3.50 bargain. Will continue using them. Your 3 winds UL I am not familiar with I will look it up to maybe get some ideas from. Glad you don't take flying seriously anymore. If it isn't pure fundo something else No one really cares if you are a good pilt or not. I Shouid be embarrassed by my skill level but don't care and smiling ear to ear. Cool to see expert though. Talk to you again on any topic. Michael marmarasmichael@gmail.com
  14. Franky welcome to what ever you want this to be BUT it has to be fun! Open for all and any flying (non LSD) questions. Experience d at both. WELCOME Michael

  16. This is a "come as you are" forum, sometimes posts get replies, sometimes they don't, and sometimes it just takes a while. 🤷‍♂️ Thats the nature of this space, be cool, no need to press or make demands, we keep it light here, or we keep it out.
  17. Thank You El Señor Barresi! I am very fortunate to have found this forum and I appreciate the time and effort involved with maintaining this space for us winged-folks. My kiting experience took off in 2020 when a stunt kite quiver became a refuge for my spiritual and mental well-being. Lasting joy and many hours of flying since the stunt kites as well as one power kite (training for kitesurfing) and single line DeltaBox and gliders keep me excited for the future windy days. I love the idea that flying kites can get us outdoors and enjoy the time safely together. Social interactions without the need to wear a mask because our lines would cross! Here in Minneapolis, MN there was plenty of time to dwell on issues beyond kiting—but, who has time for social media when we can fly together? I have aspirations for increasing exposure to this uplifting sport in my city and communities. Especially when I have the fortune of having kites. If there are any of you here who has experience and knowledge to share about creating kite clubs or other types of organizations dedicated to flying our framed-friends, please o am all ears🤞 Let’s get off the ground together and have fun! See you out there in the sky, Eric

  19. New to forum first post. Have been making fighters for many years. Hundreds Experimented with every conceivable design and size. Only make a few now but mainly miniature hata or buka. Hata usually 7x10. Buka 7x11. Can't really bet the simplest designs. All made of bamboo and metalized polypropylene ie. Foil wrapping sheets. Keep a few on hand always give away rest. Started making 2 line stunt kites. One high aspect light wind trickster 8.4 too heavy. Second precision very curved L E. 8.2 oz. CXL 150 both kites. Both are extra taut 3 standoffs on one. Don't want any baggyness in one I m making so will add s.o. after built as needed and putting battens near tip and micrcarbon from trailing edge pocket to top cross or tie into leading edge as needed. Post when done. Micheal
