Lincoln City, OR – Kite fliers from across the Northwest will be gathered at the D-River Wayside on June 25 & 26 for the Annual Summer Kite Festival in Lincoln City. A celebration of both professional and leisure kite fliers with some of the most colorful big “show kites” in the world.

The 27th Annual Lincoln City Summer Kite Festival theme is “Rockin the Rokkaku”. The featured fliers at the festival will demonstrate their flying skills throughout the weekend. Local kiteflier and past Rokkaku Battle National Champion, Ronda Brewer will be the center of attention with her many decorative Rokkaku kites, are you looking for a battle? Ronda will not turn and run.

Island Quad & iQuad is standing by with their Revolution quad-line kites. Watch as they perform a group “ballet” that surely will mesmerize the audience. The Pacific NW group Suspended Animation along with Dave & Susan Gomberg, and Phil & Barbara Burks will display the “big” stuff, while Jerimy Colbert will fly deltas. Al Washington, Gary MacEachern (the one man kite team) and kid friendly; Penny Lingenfelter will also perform during the Summer Festival.

Scheduled activities will include kite making for kids, a kid’s parade, running of the bols Penny’s kid friendly kite skit and a Rokkaku Battle. The fun begins at 10 am and runs through 4pm both days in Lincoln City, where the flying is never finer.
