  1. Hi, toddnkaya, and welcome to the forum. I look forward to flying with you someday. Figure on spending about $150 for two kites that are of good quality. About $65 for a foil and about $85 for a dual-line stunt kite. Make sure your daughter has her own kite. She will not appreciate waiting for you to finish before she can fly, even if she gets to go first. Visit a kite shop in person if possible for advice and direction. You don't want to start with something that is very difficult to learn to fly. You want to keep it fun, or what's the point, right? Most better quality kites will have ratings on the packaging to let you know if the kite has light, medium or hard pull. Smaller kites have less surface area, therefore less pull, and are faster. Larger kites are slower and more precise, and easier to learn how to control. Small foils zip around pretty good and don't have any hard parts to break when they make fast, sudden contact with the ground, however, all they can really do is fly around in circles and figure-eights. You can get two 1.2 to 1.4 meter foils for about $120 or a bit less. Framed stunt kites are less forgiving when they hit the ground, but allow you to do a bunch of things that a foil can't, by stalling the wing to make the kite do tricks. Start with one that is at least six feet across. You can buy a dual-line kite starting at about $40, but at that price it is toy-grade. The better quality ones start at about $70. You can either mix or match, obviously, so what you start with is up to you. I started with a foil, but within a week had a framed dual as well, and shortly afterwards a quad-line. It can escalate quickly if the bug bites you good. Both you and your daughter should select whatever appeals to you most. Remember, it's all about having fun. Smile, and don't forget to breathe.

  3. Hi Todd I am from the Pittsburgh area and was in your shoes not too long ago LOL I can actually give you a lot of beginner tips because I am still a beginner and would even be willing to meet up and show you how to fly I even have a few stunt kites that would be ideal for a beginning flyer that are not brand name but fly very well are very durable. The prism Jazz was my first brand name stunt kite purchase and I must say, if I were to do it all over again I would not have bought the Jazz right out of the gate I would have either went with the quantum like everyone suggested to me but by that time it was too late LOL I found around here wind is not very constant and one of the biggest mistakes I made in the beginning was trying to learn how to fly into little of wind for as heavy as my kite are even the Jazz is in my opinion wakey for its smaller size but let me tell you, with the right wind conditions and Bridal setting this thing flies precise. I would strongly advise after you learn how to fly to invest in a prism 4D they will fly in zero wind even it was definitely worth the purchase it is the 2-line kite I fly the most just because it does not take much wind at all to lift that kite off of the ground and keep ot in the air. HOWEVER It is a fragile kite NOT FOR BEGINNERS. Also. My daughter jist turned 12. I tought her how to fly 2 liners pretty easily. And its like riding a bicycle. If you have any questions please message me here on in dm and I will help as best I can. Jason

  4. I don’t sit in an office pushing kites, nor am I landlocked in a low kite activity region of the world... Between on field time, web presence, training programs and everything else, it probably wouldn’t be a real good idea for any company to copy my stuff outrightand expect to go up against it - just saying. The blur happens with the B and Eyes because Rev did originally sell them under their label, not in the case of the Djinn. Also, you’ll notice I haven’t posted a full pic of the current build - that’s so I can stay ahead of any nefarious activity by putting kites on the ground. And even if someone does copy, they still gotta deliver and keep up with my sincere, natural promotion. No slime, no bull, what I sell will always be real and field-proven. ❤️

Another in our ongoing series of Rev tutorials, this one covering a series of exercises that teach the "Bicycle Rotation" wherein the pilot is able to rotate or spin their kite in place without losing altitude! NOTE: A reliable (and free) cross-platform video player is VLC, which should work with any file format including MKV. 6. I am 52 years old , 180 pounds and will be flying in Pittsburgh Pa. I am not sure if I want a foil or stunt kite. Both look incredible !! I am sure I will own both in quick order. I would like to fly with my 11 year old daughter, at some point, but I am assuming I will need a separate kite to fly with her. She is on the weak side. So, maybe I should just focus on my needs for the first one. I would like to stay under $100. Can I get a nice foil or stunt kite for this price. Looks like we average 7-10 mph winds here . Thanks for your input/guidance ! Todd

  9. Generally not very good things happen when a line is removed from any of my kites. A truly talented person simultaneously yells OUT! When that happens lol Sent from my [device_name] using http://KiteLife mobile app

  10. Thanks very much for your advice Breezin!!! I actually just bought a Prism Synapse 140 , and I am beyond stocked to fly it. I was actually gifted a stunt kite , from a member of another forum. Sooooooooooo generous!!! He is sending me a Skyburner Freestylist UL , which looks to be a pretty nice kite!😁 I just pay the shipping. Nice folks in the kiting community!!! The Premier Wolf Ng looks like an amazing kite. Maybe one day when my skills are up to snuff. Great to know that my daughter will be able to handle the Prism foil. I want to get a single line just for fun, as I had one during a trip to Norfolk, and it was fun!! I imagine you do enjoy the Zephyr , that a pricey kite. Lol.... I can see , this could be a money pit , like every other hobbie. Jason , thanks for input and generous offer to show me the ropes!!!! That is really appreciated!!, and I will shoot you a PM, to set something up. I have zero knowledge, other than learning stuff on Youtube. It will be great to learn hands on. I checked out the 4d , and that seems like the perfect kite for our winds here in the Burgh. I will build up my skills first, as I imagine that thing would tear it up in some wind. I am really excited to get flying!! Thanks, Todd

  11. Yes, that's exactly why I must resist the temptation. I'm already contemplating turning my Zero G into a dual.

  12. I'm basing my opinion, and it's only an opinion because I have not found any facts yet to support it, on quad kites I have built. I my experience any time you have a cross member running across the kite it will create air dams above and below it, which can drastically impede motion in either forward or reverse flight or even both. This is an extreme example of how much it can affect motion. This is an example, only in the horizontal direction. It nearly refuses to side slide. Yes, it's a quad.

  13. April, I'll convince you to get rid of all those evil dark side quads and bask in the good pure single line glider side during my DC trip Sent from my [device_name] using http://KiteLife mobile app

  15. Jazz has a reputation for being tough. I have Prism's Zephyr and Snapshot 1.4 foil. Very happy with both. Very different than the Jazz. Jazz will get you flying but will limit your tricking growth if that's what you want to do. Premier Vision in that price range would take you further. A lot of folks will say spend a little more and get a Quantum. My pick in that price range is the Premier Wolf ng.I had a Premier Nighthawk that my 11 year old grand son did real well on.So did I. Upset that I sold it until he saw the replacement.Premier replaced the Nighthawk with the Wolf ng. Best place to get it is at Kites and Fun Things. They also are the kites designers. Your 11 year old can handle a duel line to start. Not saying don't get a single line kite cause there are some real cool ones. Esingers recent videos are a great example.Just not needed if duels are the goal and cost is a issue. A used decent 1.2 to 1.8 foil from $30.00 to $40.00 on Ebay would minimize damage when first learning control. I've had a 6 year old grand daughter flying my Snapshot and Hydra. Under close supervision though. A year from now and you guys are out flying your new $400.00 Benson kites (you'll have to have 2 ) and a newbie wants try flying. Hand them the Jazz or foil. Some people like the Jazz so much they get 3 or 4 and stack them. The pics and videos of those stacks are very cool.

  16. Thanks for the awesome reply makatakam!! Someone is gifting me a stunt kite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A total stranger is sending me a kite he does not use anymore!!! He is a member of an audio forum I frequent . I just pay shipping.😁 He is sending me a Skyburner Freestylist UL , which looks nice a very nice kite that will work in our low winds. I saw a guy on YT flying it like crazy in a 4 MPH wind. So now , I am thinking of buying a 1.4 foil kite . I saw these listed for under $50. It's a Prism Synapse 140 Sport Kite. So, It looks like I'm ready to fly!! I'm smiling big time. :-)

  19. When I first started flying, it was with a dual line kite and that was all I flew for well over a year. I then decided to go after quad line kites and flew both for years later. After a while I started to really appreciating single line kites for their simplicity and (generally) low maintenance. I'd fly a single line and also fly either a dual or quad at the same time. Generally I enjoy variety and there's just so many cool aspects to kiting I like to experience them all. I see many posts urging people experience "The Dark Side" when they enjoy dual line kites. I challenge people to consider "All Sides" of kiting. It's very rewarding to me

  21. LMAO, there are deer, snakes, raccoons, bears, coyotes, etc... in the area. Zero Alligators. I bought The Long Way Home and a Urban Ninja Building Set in November of last year. I bought the I'll Be Back, Darling kites in March but only recently received them. So 4 total, however only 3 were built by him, the Ninja was built by me. Horvath kites, aren't cheap. But in my opinion worth it. There's really nothing like the experience of flying The Long Way Home on a windless day (unlike the video) and there's plenty of room.

  23. WoW kite club's 1st Sunday fly is this weekend,.... See you guys down on the Mall grounds? EARLY if you want any parking nearby! Big Mulberry tree sticking up out of the ground (looks like a hand with spread fingers) on the West side is our base-camp location. I will have equipment that can be flown in no wind, you might need some practice with the techniques necessary to maximize your flight pleasure, but if I can do it I know anyone can too! We should have a dozen of so no-wind quads available, some single liners and dualies, maybe a fighter or 2, even an indoor kite. Bring water to mist/wet yourself down if it's blazing hot, certainly appropriate beverages and lunch to consume as you guys will be down there all day making it work. Meet the usual gang of Wowsters and spank some rip-stop with us!
