It all started looking for parts for my 2 line stunt kite (never let someone tell u they can fly a kite ,pile drove it into ground ).So as I search the internet I come across static 4 line foil kites start watching videos then I see the FAIL videos and decide at 57 my body doesn't heal quickly enough lol Then I come across this thing called a revolution, start watching videos (this guy JB makes it look so easy and fun ) One of the dealers i'm looking at for parts sells them and its on this side of the border ,more reading and I read about the B series (and this guy JB again designed it )so I watch some tutorial videos he makes it look fun and challenging. Read on Kitelife about the differences between reflex and B series ,the dealer has a B series full sail in stock still and if I order it with parts shipping is free for parts so 535 cdn dollars later its on its way . I live on a 160 acre farm plenty of room to fly ,its been windy here so much so that we actually complain about the wind regularly.8 days later kite arrives (Canada post but free so ).First I watch all the dvds , One thing I hoped the dvd would tell me is how to hold the second leading edge in place when using 2 together (john didn't mention it in any of the free online videos I had watched) and it did !! So for the next 3 days wouldn't you know it no wind, on the 4th day 5mph I take it up to the field ,not good NO FLY ,hay was too high, wind was so weak kite would fall forward 5th day no wind ,6th day 6mph gusting 10 .start on leading edge its just doing cartwheels leading edge to leading edge (I've moved to soccer field 2 miles away ).I'm getting depressed 7th day today after watching videos again reader some more I head out to soccer field 7mph with a few drops and some gusting but I have to try, check line lengths, check bridle set up Got it to flip upright from leading edge and stay there YEH Launch, spin ,wack on leading edge again and again and again .That JB guy gets in my head --pull those thumbs back Hold them there for forward flight-- YEH its in the air, up to the top of window YEH I bet I had a big smile on my face Then I tried to fly it around a little here it comes towards ground ,I believe it was riff that said slack the lines for softer crashes I did learn something from all that reading I'm so happy I got it in the air and I also learned u can't fly a rev like a 2 line kite its going to take a few more hours to get that in my head >use the brakes >and I also understand why that JB guys hands keep twitching in the videos . by the time I finished flying today I was able to hold kite in one place and do it on edge as well> plus land it Upright YEH

  2. Hi, and welcome to the forum. Stay with it. A few more times out and you'll have it doing anything you want. Well, almost. Fly for 15-20 minutes and take a break. You'll learn faster that way. Watch the tutorials until you're sick of them and then watch them again a few more times. The instruction JB gives in the beginner vids is GOSPEL. It is tried and proven. Don't deviate from it until you don't need them anymore. Have fun, smile and don't forget to breathe.

  4. Hi, and welcome to the forum. It's good to have you on board. I prefer LPG because it's stiffer; less chance of tangles and catching on debris. I also use Sky Bond on occasion because it is a bit more slippery than LPG so it will bind less when I spin the kite several times. Most dual line kites come standard with Dyneema lines. Dyneema's weave is not as dense as the other two and so its surface is not as smooth. Experienced flyers will fly either LPG or Sky Bond depending on preference and/or intent, especially when flying in pairs or groups. I either buy or make my own depending on availability and time frame. It's good to know how to make your own just in case you need to do it on the field. I've done it a couple of times and it saved the day. Most folks fly on what is commercially available but know how to turn a worn long set into two shorter ones. The bottom line is how deep you get into the hobby.

  9. Thank you very much for that offer! However the time for that is not now. First doing would be needed to make the necessary mistakes, identifying the difficulties, by practice making it vivid enough to remember the answers well and getting a good enough reference to fit the answers into and last to come up with the good questions addressing (as close as possible) the cores of the difficulties.

  10. Welcome and sounds like you are doing great. Be choosy about your wind at first, choppy bouncy or weak wind is a good challenge later but not helpful for the initial learning curve. Breathing and taking breaks is key as it helps loosen your muscle tension. Focus on developing good consistent muscle memory for each skill...and practice each skill each time out. Smile a lot.   13. I have played this video many times with and without music to try to figure out the various parts of what is happening. One of the things I've looked for is when the feet are not moving much to figure out how to low wind pilot as economically as possible. It seems to coincide with having the kite in a close to horizontal gliding position. I have also looked for the same thing in: https://kitelife.com/forum/topic/9011-rev-footage-by-drone/ As @SHBKF says, this is a highly inspirational video for trying really short lines in no/low wind. Ohh, did I happen to say that last sentence? What are the excuses now not to make a ~4m line set (hardly the cost of the line material) and leave the house early in a windless morning heading for a no witness forest glade and try to do a first QLK 360deg? Yes finally, the "SS Great Britain" video made me think of the Fred Astaire dance with the hat/coat rack, just replace the rack with a QLK in the first half of the below video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFD1nky4QTI

  14. welcome Little DAB, keep the wrists close to each other and elbos close to body at the beghining. wrist colse will help you to work brakes to turn from the handles (oposite to dual lines from arm mouvement) and elbos close to body will help you to reduce unnecesary arm mouvements and control better the handles
