  1. Name: Kiteman Journey To Dubai Category: Shows / Productions Date Added: 09 December 2011 - 01:03 PM Submitter: John Barresi Short Description: Fire In The Arabian Sky This largest ever Kiteman nighttime performance occurred December 1st, 2011 on Dubai Creek for the 40th National Day of the United Arab Emirates. Ten large Diamond Show Kite Trains of five kites each light up the sky with the latest technologies created at Kiteman Productions headquarters in Kissimmee (Orlando), Florida. A crew of amazing specialist performers (10 drivers, 10 kite pilots, three technicians and a director) traveled from six regions of the United States and Canada to perform using large high powered jet skis. These new Show Kites were illuminated with Super LED lighting on the sails and custom electroluminescent light cable inside the 100" (30 meter) tails. All effects including 1.5 minutes of 50' streaming silver fireworks are activated with the new Kiteman FX Wireless Control System. Kites are launched with the Kiteman Power Launch System. Kiteman Kites were one element in this large water show that was produced by Film Master MEA in Dubai. http://www.filmmastermea.com For more information about Kiteman Production shows contact Susan Carskadon at carskadon@indra.com This video was edited by Jack Fields and Bruce Flora. 2. Yep, I'm now a fan of TapaTalk for quick mobile forum browsing, very nice.
  3. Got your check in the mail today, wow - thank you! Great to have you in for a lifetime John, make it a long one.
  4. Okay, TapaTalk is $2.99 in the iPhone App Store... I'm testing it right now (this post), worked GREAT for viewing "new content" stuff. Going to try a photo upload and embed: Wow, super easy... Seems solid so far.
  5. We'll see, I hope to make it.
  6. I've just reinstalled TapaTalk on the forum... http://tapatalk.com/mobile.php Haven't used it myself yet, but I've had a lot of requests for it.
  7. Hi John, welcome back - glad to hear you're up and around.
  8. We're pleased to yet again announce the next prize being given away to our most appreciated supporters, the Kitelife Subscribers... For roughly 10 cents per day they play a major role in keeping KL growing in every way. Because I'll actually be out of the country when it's time to hold our B-Series drawing, I figured I'd put up another prize right now to appease our supporters. == This time around, a Kymera, $198 value! This package includes kite, removable weights and kite sleeve! NOTE: Primary color of the kite in this drawing is BLUE, with WHITE and GREY. You can sign up here. Odds of winning for this prize is currently 1/314, and will be drawn on January 15th, 2012! Our thanks, and the very best to you... Let the drooling begin!
  9. My pleasure, glad to hear you're enjoying the Kymera. Any chance I might see you at the Gandia Clinic? Might be going, not 100% sure yet.
  10. Drum roll please! Our lucky subscriber this month is number.... 5 5 5 Yes indeed, #555, congratulations to Ken Walker (FlyinKen)!! If ever there was a time I wanted to sway the drawing, this would probably have been it - y'all were so generous with your numbers to photomom... It's always tough, I know so many of you - I wish we could give more prizes and fill your kite bags even faster. Right, ever onward... I *know* Ken will put that kite to good use, and maybe he'll teach us how to butter up the RNG. <grin> Next prize to be announced shortly.
  11. Alright, alright, I'm up! Sorry, had a late celebratory dinner with TK last night. The drawing results in a few minutes.
  12. Hi Cristina, thanks for asking! The sail is loose when the Kymera is "standing", my own kites are identical... When the sail loads up (inflates), there is actually a slight bulge on the back of each wing - kind of like a bladder to focus the pressure and wind flow to specific areas of the trailing edge. The wing tips should be quite tight though... Enough to put a slight flex in the leading edge (not a big curve). I hope that answered your question? If not, let me know - happy to help.

  19. Happy turkey day everybody, thanks for your friendship. I'm headed down to San Diego today... A bit more dental work, and visiting with Ben from Rev. Be safe, have fun, and be thankful.
  20. Hi Michael, welcome to the forum! To help folks assist further, I'd like to ask a few questions... 1. What is the budget you're aiming for with your new kite? 2. You mention varying wind conditions, is there an average wind range or do you really get all kinds, all the time? 3. Are you looking for a trick monster, or a well-rounded kite for both tricks and precision? We've got a lot of knowledgeable folks here, a little more info and I'm sure you'll get some great suggestions.
  21. Some is a matter of preference, some is a matter of "handicapping" the flier so they're able to launch more easily. The Rev school of initial teaching favors a kite that can fly forward (launch) very easily, and does not incorporate the "break heavy" (sail loaded) style of flying at all. In my experience, the Rev school of teaching is a little faster to get a pilot in the air, but takes longer for them to get a firm grasp of control. Anyone else? Perspectives are varied, lets hear 'em all.
