  4. All ribbing aside, it's going to be a brilliant time... 30 students, 5-7 instructors, lots of new shared perspectives and skills, a great beach (and typically great wind - between 3 and 16 mph), new friends and TEAM FLYING. I for one, can't wait!
  5. Thanks Sari! In all honestly, it is mostly effortless... It's not a physical feat, nor is it particularly challenging to DO. It is challenging to learn, but totally possible if you connect with other fliers on a semi-regular basis. In my experience, what defines the most skilled pilots is focus and little to no self-judgment, always moving forward, so to speak. == The "flip thing" at 7:04 is called a "Flic Flac", as shown here... There's a full tutorial on it in the subscriber downloads, and we'll cover it at the clinic along with everything else.
  6. Came across this... http://www.unblockyoutube.co.uk/
  7. Celebrating our 2nd anniversary today, will be off the grid for part of the day. :)

  8. No chance, we'll have volunteers to draw on!

  10. It's all in the little things.
  11. It's all about the little things. Even the best pilots in the world, most times, it's not some amazing talent but rather the attention to countless LITTLE things, consecutively.
  12. You're welcome Sari! Ya, 10 minutes to teach, 3 minutes to do... Way better than 20+ minutes setting up every time.
  13. This was TK's standout routine of the trip... Those conditions were really tough, and it improved her skill level a lot. So proud of my sweetie!
  14. It's great to see you so excited Sari, and you're right... It's gonna be a blast, with lots to learn!
  15. That's it ladies and gentlemen, SOLD OUT! Thanks to all who have signed up, this is going to be a really good time all around.
  16. Hi guys, TK and I were just sitting around thinking back over the past season, musing on some of our favorite moments... It was a good year, we've seen (and helped make) lots of new, friendly fliers... We're absolutely looking forward to 2012! So, we'd like to ask you: 1. What was your #1 favorite kite event in 2011? 2. Any special stories from your 2011 kiting journey? 3. What kite festivals would you like to attend in 2012? 4. Show us some of your best kiting photos from 2011 (post here)! My own... #1 - It's a tie for me, and none are true "festivals" per se... The West Coast Rev Clinic (Mar '11) and Singapore Rev Clinic (Sep '11) were awesome, since I really enjoy meeting folks in a casual environment and watching the skill/information flow between everyone at a high rate - it's really the best buzz I've found as of late, other than team flying (of course)... Another favorite would have to be the NTUC Income Indoor Fiesta, just because it was such a difficult and COOL venue to do a street kiting performance. #2 - Ha, the long house trip at the Borneo Intl Kite Festival... The iQuad team joined a bunch of international fliers to one home of the Iban, originally headhunters, they welcomed fliers with warmth and a beautiful cultural experience... That was great, but the part I'm getting to is where they had us put on some ceremonial garb (after quite a few drinks of their local jungle brew - rice wine called Tuak) and dance around a gift tree (small palm) with a sword, cutting goodies down from the branches... Well, we got pretty boisterous and ended up marching that tree all the way back to our room... Maybe you had to be there, but it's my #1 moment at the moment (SO MANY!), good times with my homies. Funny link on this here - http://www.teamiquad.com/photos/2011-pics/comical-adventures-in-borneo #3 - I'd really love to see the the Gandia Rev Clinic in Spain, or the Thailand Kite Festival... Sadly, both are on the same dates. #4 - TK takes all the photos around here, and I love all of hers. Ha, just going through that made me want to go fly... ROFL So, how about your 2011?
  17. My pleasure Pete, it'll all be worth it in the end. And yes, some of the IPB (software) users have quirked their eyebrows at me on this one.
  18. Oh ho, you're mean! Let me know if you ever do find a way to circumvent the block, would love to share it somewhere for folks.
  19. Down to TWO spaces available!
  20. Yep, you got it... Really?? Crikey, you're scaring me... Ya, obviously ignore and delete that one, sorry about that! I guess I'll stop trying to make that link work, was really hoping to find a way, it's a great performance. Everything is okay on your 'puter, yes?
  21. Okie dokie... Just manually back-dated the articles in issues 1-6 appropriately with one-by-one SQL database queries for both topic and post, so they actually look like they were posted the day we originally published them in 1998. Whew... That's a tedious process... Looking for some way to speed it up, as there's no simple field for it anywhere in the forum software, front side or in the admin... But anyway, just wanted to let you know as the back-dating had been suggested earlier. Pain in the butt for the moment, but a good call, and I think an easier way will present itself. Thanks for the motivation y'all!
  22. 25 pre-registered, only 5 spaces still available! Clock is ticking.
  23. Aye, going to the Micron is like boxing training with a speed bag. LOL
  24. This is fun, and useful for others if we can nail down a way that works. This time using a "proxy server"... Via Proxify.com Those two websites basically let you enter a URL you want to visit, but route you through another part of the world to get there. I've had other folks use it with some success, let me know what you get?
  25. I'd also like to add that a 1/2 axel is one of those "unlocking" maneuvers... It's a new concept for newer fliers, essentially TRYING to make the kite unstable, it defies what we learned just trying to keep the thing in the air! It will take a while to learn the 1/2 axel and cascade, but once you have those, they help "unlock" everything else in the trick line up. I've been an old school dual line pilot since 1990, but I spent the whole of 2005's summer just learning tricks. Randy Greenway's tutorials were really instrumental for me. Other tricks you might work on at the same time, the "Lazy Susan", "Flapjack" and "Yo Yo Launch", all three are really validating to do and work from a totally different (more understandable) base of skills. Also, the Quantum is a fair beginner kite, but you will need to understand that the kite is a tad on the heavy side and requires a little more work to do tricks on... It will do it, but it's a bit like doing donuts with a Civic... Can definitely do it, but isn't really built to do it well. Again, meet up with another experienced flier... This will shave MONTHS off your learning curve, well worth it. And other fliers are typically a friendly sort anyway, you'd enjoy it - I have no doubt.
