  1. Hi guys, we just had a overdue forum upgrade... Firefox seems to be a little quirky, but Chrome tested 100% okay on this end. "Profile photos" are gone, so all avatars have gone square, sorry! We generally roll out major upgrades here first, then on the Rev forum when it's absolutely necessary. The old version of the forum software was giving some excessively long queries, and of course, become more and more susceptible to security issues. Feel free (please) to continue posting "what-why" feedback here if anything continues to act quirky... Your feedback is important! Out of general principle, you may want to hold down the shift key and refresh the forum index page, just to clear your cache.
  2. The Crossfire went to Jason, we've got a B-Series up for grabs right now, and we just might be putting up a Kymera very soon!
  3. Hi Airhead, welcome to the forum - and what a great first post! Now, photos would help us answer your question with greater confidence, but... You mention "Marlin" and "Tracker"... I only know of two kites that match these names somewhat: Merlin - Unusual due to swallow-tail design, and battens running nose to tail, available roughly 1990 to 1992 and designed by Gary Hansen. Tracker - 3/4 size version of the Tracer, by Mike Simmons / Skyward Kites, later produced by Skynasaur. Got any pics of your kites? I'm curious now, I've spent time with both the Merlin and Tracker kites.
  4. We're pleased to yet again announce the next prize being given away to our most appreciated supporters, the Kitelife Subscribers... For roughly 10 cents per day they play a major role in keeping KL growing in every way. B-Series STD (package), roughly a $350 value! This package includes kite, 2 wrap and 3 wrap frames, adjustable handles, DVD, weight kit and kite sleeve! NOTE: Primary color of the kite in this drawing is PURPLE and GREY with WHITE CENTER, on a FULL SAIL. This is regular (factory) model, it is not a Pro by Bazzer, but will still provide excellent flying for whoever wins this. You can sign up here. Odds of winning for this prize is currently 1/303, and will be drawn on September 27th, 2011! Our thanks, and the very best to you... Let the drooling begin!
  5. We've got a winner!!!! 8..... 7..... 7! Lucky #877, Jason Harmer is taking home this brand new Crossfire! Congratulations Jason.
  6. Wow, 4 hours into the 12th and nobody is on my case about this?
  7. I hope our in-person discussions on this topic helped to clarify Stuart, I seem to recall you have an indoor on order now. Congrats brother.
  8. Thanks Stuart, the manual has fallen heavily into disuse... I hope to do some video instructions at some point, as time allows.

    hi all

Welcome adybud! Between here and the Rev forum, I think you'll find everything you need, good folks abound.
  10. I'll be in Utah that weekend, but I wish you all the best weather and success!
  11. Rob, I have one as well... I'm guessing yours and mine were the last 4 made by Erv.
  12. Ugh, true enough... Thought it was the 10th, but no, it's the 12th... Another day and a half to go.
  13. We're all back in the USA now... I'm seriously jetlagged, just trying to catch up and finish work on the new issue of Kitelife before we take off for WSIKF. Looks like I need to draw a winner in a few minutes as well.
  14. Quiet, but not totally gone! TK and I have been in Singapore since the 26th doing a street kiting show... If you're interested, do a search on YouTube for "ION Orchard kite" or similar and you should be able to turn up some footage. Quick link here! One of MANY demos I've done over the past 2 weeks... I'll put together a playlist once we're home after the 8th and post it for everyone.
  15. What a GREAT day at Tuas... Wind was difficult, but spirits were high, we were all on the field together, and SG set a new national mega fly record! Was it 25 Revs at one time?

Thank you all for the warm welcome, it was a great experience... One sky, one world. :)

  16. Every day is One Sky, One World. ;)

  17. With all of the posts where they are (in the past), I'd like to issue an "open call" invitation for ALL fliers and kite enthusiasts to join Steve, Spence, Takako and myself at TUAS this coming Saturday from 11am-2pm.

  18. Alright, going offline for now... Looking forward to exploring some of this beautiful city today, best wishes and love to ALL, reall, ALL... Time is moving, the future is what we make of it.

  19. Only because there are so many photos posted from our visit to Singapore now, I'm moved to issue a clarifying statement... The North American group (Steve, Spencer, TK and myself) do NOT endorse The "King of Kites" company or their activities... We made a surprise visit to their store yesterday, and were saddened to find FOUR PAGES of Rev copies in their catalog.

  20. Great first day in Singapore, TK and I had a lot of fun flying with the locals. :)

  21. Hi Fellsway! I'm not a Trlby expert, but I've flown my share of kites for a long time... As I understand it, the original tube tails are heavier (plastic vs ripstop) and cause more drag than flat tails. I think as long as your new ripstop tails are of comparable length, and a couple of inches wide, the kites will likely fly fine. Seems to me that the Dynakite tails are pretty darned similar in size (aside from being flat).
