www.kitemap.org – A new kite fliers' community-based resource Kite flying needs little in the way of resources to be a satisfying hobby for young and old alike. However, a good site to fly helps a lot. www.kitemap.org is a resource created by the kiting community for the community; a database of good kite flying locations created by the community and equally importantly, maintained by the community. Why? As a regular flyer at a location, a lot of information is taken for granted. But if you are planning on visiting a new area, or have moved recently, how do you find where to take your kites on a free afternoon? This website is designed to help that decision; as more locations are added to the database you will be able to get good directions to a site you've never visited or unique help in planning a road-trip! Surely there are other sites that do this? Well, yes, there are other sites on the Internet. We've visited a few, but the coverage has been quite sparse (often with limited geographic coverage based around the site owner) and there can be a question over how up-to-date the information might be. www.kitemap.org is a resource to allow the community to share information on their favorite safe and publicly accessible flying sites for the benefit of others. The website draws on the great mapping of Google Maps so you can see quite quickly if there are suitable locations listed within your area of interest, or you can jump straight in and search for the sites listed near a named place or town. But there are so few sites listed now Yes, you're right. But we said it's a community initiative. That's where we need your help. Whilst we would dearly love to travel the world testing out kite flying locations, there are of course practical constraints! And the best information is known to those on the ground. So please help make this a site that showcases the locations you meet to fly. We ask for your contact details so, in the future, we can check periodically to confirm whether any changes are necessary. How can I help? Please consider adding your local site to the database. It's easy. Once you've typed the address (a town name will do) you can drag the pointer to mark the location very accurately, thanks to Google Map's zoom features. We want to capture some fairly standard information too. If you find any factual inaccuracies, please use the 'contact' form to report back to the site administrator. All locations should be publicly accessible and suited to flying a range of kites. Do I need to register for an account of any kind? No, submissions are made easily through a single form using a drag-and-drop marker and simple fields that help describe the features and facilities of the flying field you're submitting.wards dual line fliers or multi-line kites, but is inclusive. So when, as we hope, you add your favorite sites, we ask that details entered reflect the broad community that we are. But the site is just in English As a community resource, our priority has been to get it up and running to accept information. If you can help provide a translation of the pages for another language, we would really welcome your support. Just drop us an email or comment via the website! Further information: Contact via web form at www.kitemap.org or email the administrators: admin *AT* kitemap *DOT* org

We just uploaded the full indoor show (45 minutes) to the subscriber download area, but I wanted to share these four other videos we managed to grab over last weekend. It was a great event, we always try to attend when we can.

Aye, what Wayne said.

The photo row doesn't have ratings, you'll need to open up each pic and rate it individually - as usual.

Those tails look great, love the looped tail between 2 kites, adds a really nice visual.

AWESOME, wish I'd been there... Looks like y'all had a ball.

Great idea Pete. http://kitelife.com/...rsoftware-help/ FYI, we did apply a gallery patch today which resolved the "?" images. The other issues though, I still attribute to choice of browser.

Glad to hear Chrome and everything is in working order now, sorry to hear AOL is still behind the curve.

Straight from a hard-core buggier, his shop does a lot of buggy service... Words of wisdom. Thanks for being here Kent!

Just a small sample of AOL unrest... http://www.technibble.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19126

I'm not running any sort of high-end, super duper browser... The Kitelife site should be working *just fine* on all 5 major (and FREE) browsers in the latest versions. http://www.google.com/chrome http://www.mozilla.com/firefox http://www.microsoft...ternet-explorer http://www.apple.com/safari/download http://www.opera.com/download AOL users can EASILY download and use these in conjunction with their service, and many do for the reasons stated above.

Folks on the AOL resident browser would certainly be in the minority, and they get to force-feed you through their preferred networks / advertising. But just as a functional reference, if AOL suggested you update with Google Chrome, it's a good sign that their old browser is in need of an update. When companies like them repackage a browser for the users, it will almost always end up a step behind pretty quickly. = My guess, you could do the AOL update to Chrome, not notice much of a functional difference, and everything would work on Kitelife. From a Kitelife perspective, we can only do so much... It's neither practical or possible to back-tech everything for folks on super old stuff. And I can assure you, such old browsers aren't just having problems with Kitelife, it'd be showing up on a lot of sites. Not trying to harangue or make this difficult, I appreciate your frustration, but I'm just shooting straight.

Too strange, looks alright there as well... What browser are you using, and do you know if it's the latest version? Shouldn't be an issue anyway, but I might as well ask.

Took a look Duane, here's what I saw... That "options" tab has two choices, the bottom one is to upload a new image to that album. == Also, actually clicking into that same album gives me this... Note the upload button, highlighted green, also for adding new images to that album. == I completely admit I might be missing something here, but it all seems functional to me... ?
