  1. Looks like rain on/off all day today and light wind. Give me a call about where you'd like to eat.
  2. Pulled a late-nighter to get my work done, give me a call LATE morning if you're up for it.
  3. If you keep pulling the nose in, sure, it increases angular lift... But, it also reduces the actual pressure in the sail, making the kite feel really light (slight pull) and sluggish on the lines (wide spins and turns). Assuming you have (flag supporting) wind - let the nose back out (downward adjustment on bridle) a very small amount, increasing until you feel pressure and drive again... If you can't launch or the kite doesn't move forward, you've gone too far. There is a fine balance between nose in ("lift"/less responsive/float) and nose back (pressure/quicker response/stall) settings, just experiment, and be sure your settings are the same on both R/L sides. From the A Wind of Change website: Reference - http://www.awindofch.../lesson2-4.html Hope that helps, keep us posted!
  4. Weather aside, I'm 50/50 on making it tomorrow. Finishing up a web project, hoping to have it done tonight, but if not... I'll try like heck, one way or the other.
  5. AWESOME resource Mike, thank you very much for putting it together! Looking forward to seeing the archive of videos expand even further.
  6. Sounds good, TK and I are in unless something unavoidable comes up work-wise.
  7. In Denver, just boarded flight home (1 hr delay)... About to take off, yay!

  8. We're pleased to yet again announce the next prize being given away to our most appreciated supporters, the Kitelife Subscribers... For roughly 10 cents per day they play a major role in keeping KL growing in every way. This is a brand new Crossfire sport kite by Dodd Gross, from Skydog Kites, roughly a $139 value! A good all-rounder and trick kite, this is a great addition for any intermediate/advanced flier - http://www.skydogkit...crossfire.shtml This kite also comes with your choice of Skydog shirt, please remind me upon notification. == If you haven't done so already, You can sign up here. Odds of winning for this prize is currently 1/280, and will be drawn on October 15th, 2010! Our thanks, and the very best to you... Let the drooling begin.
  9. Nose snag points: Hit 'em (CAREFULLY) with a lighter and smooth them over, or use a hot knife and cut the protrusions off (again - very, very carefully). The key is not to effect the kite itself, just the odd bits that are sticking out. As for wing tips, not much to do except practice your moves until you don't catch the wing tips as often. Have you seen these trick tutorials by Randy Greenway? http://cid-268807a1b99b3f7c.profile.live.com/Lists/cns!268807A1B99B3F7C!103/

  13. Brilliant post Chris, thanks for sharing those... Ray is awesome, haven't watched them all yet, but a highlight for me already is the bit where he is teaching that kid how to fly (video 2/4 I think). +1, great find!
  14. Alright, got 'er done... Rainy morning in Milwaukee, so I've got just enough time to draw a winner. .. .. Might be... .. Could be... Subscriber #631... Congrats to Terry Ashenfelter, proud recipient of a new B-Series Mid-Vent package! That, and of course, as a subscriber he has access to the full archive of Rev tutorials to go along with it! Next prize will be announced on Monday or Tuesday, thanks to all for their support.
  15. is up bright and early with JD and TK, 5:30am flight to Phoenix, then Milwaukee for the Mots Festival. :)

  16. Dag! Gonna have to wait... I'm en route to Milwaukee. Drawing will take place Monday night or Tuesday morning.
  17. Next issue of Kitelife Magazine coming up on October 1st... Looking forward to a new assortment of submissions from around the world, deadline for contributions is September 20th, get 'em in while you can! http://kitelife.com/magazine/submissions.php We also take "pre-event reports" or press releases, if you have an upcoming kite event you'd like to promote... 18. Thanks Rob, you can count on some dual line tuts in the future. I'll be starting with the fundamentals, launch, line tension, landings, turn methods, light wind flying, etc, etc... After that, I'll start in with some trick tutorials, all picture-in-picture (hands/pilot and kite), of course. There are a few tricks I need to learn first, got most everything under my belt already except: - Crazy Copter - Inverse - Taz Machine - Clockwise Comete - Comete Cascade - Yo Fade - Multi Slot Machine I also need to polish up my counterclockwise Comete, Slot Machine... Been looking at the various tutorials, just a matter of spending the time.
  19. Aye, as little structure as possible... For sure, casual, no membership. Feel welcome to use this forum, it'd work well for me too (obviously)... Discuss it a bit, and let me know what you need. As for leading and calling, I'm all too happy to share that knowledge as needed, as well as the usual team tips and encouragement. Anytime I'm at the field and wind allows, I'm game.
  20. Oh man, what a $&@%# amazing day on Antelope Island... Light wind for much of it, but the highlights kept on coming...

  21. Wow, wow... What an awesome Friday on Antelope Island! Beautiful venue, everyone has been super friendly... A lot of support and welcome for the kite fliers, the balloonists let us play with our whole team on the inflated Revs, will publish photos in Kitelife when I have them.

  22. Had so much fun doing indoor demos at a Junior High for the Antelope Island Stampede event today, awesome event so far... Quick break back at Rooster's before we head to the island for outdoor flying tonight. :)

  23. Sadly, there's no regular cycle to the weekends that we're home... Example here: http://www.teamiquad.com/main.htm#schedule As you can see, sometimes it's the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th weekend, with little consistency. If local folks put their heads together and choose some weekends, we'll certainly come out anytime we're in town. I think it's a great idea, I'd love to see it come together... But I'd like to see folks take partial ownership of it too.
  24. I'm all for it, but I'm often so busy or gone 2-3 weekends out of the month... Hard for me to be the galvanizing force on this one. If 2-3 of you other folks would like to take the lead with rallying troops, I'll gladly throw my weight behind it!
  25. I've seen videos like that before, very similar to indoor kite ballet, albeit totally different dynamics at work. So cool, thanks for sharing that.
