  1. Kites and lines no problem (Depending on size restrictions.

Stakes will cause issues and should be checked (or buy a cheap screwdriver when you arrive)

Quad Handles MAY bear further inspection due to the weapon-like shape..

Short version. Most things OK but check or leave the stake behind.

  2. When winding your lines after flying in a sandy environment, it's a good idea to take a very thin slightly damp cloth and run the lines through that as you wind. it will get rid of dirt particles that could rub and cause damage. Using a thin cloth to do this you will feel anything that may be trapped in the weave of your lines.

Rob,  plans for frame?  Seems the LE rod makes a big over all difference in wind range and handling.  I think I will stick close to the light wind frame for Fulcrum on Kite Burner site. Enjoy light pull with lots of feedback. Let me know how it respondes. Good we can always change rods easily. Michael marmarasmichael@gmail.com

Planning to experiment with a few frames.. We will see what works best..

Hi all flyers,.  Will try to make it to the Wright Festival. Both sisters live in NC so maybe can plan a trip. The Chattanooga Festival was the best we have had in 25 years. Maybe will befriend some of you! Michael marmarasmichael@gmail.com

    Looking forward to it..

Looks like it should be fully flight tested in time for the Wright Kite Festival 🤔. See you there 👍

It wouldn't be the first thing that flew there for the first time..

  6. The Advantage of the Rev EXP is it comes with Handles and Lines.. For all other options those are usually separate..   The Kite is indeed quickly outgrown but you will likely be crashing a bit at first until you get the hang of it.

Freilein is an excellent kite at a reasonable price point. If you go with Freilein go with OSK since they control the QC for their brand and have a higher standard.. (I've never seen even a stich out of place on an OSK Freilein.

Handles.. Freilein Handles are my personal Preference but there are other options availalbe. Length is a personal preference but the standard is 13" as you stated. (I personally Prefer 15" but that's just me)

Lines. -  Laser Pro Gold (aka LPG) or Skybond are the way to go. 20-30 meters are good starting points.

Words of wisdom.  When it comes to cheaper lines or cheaper kites you generally get what you pay for.

Get in touch With Eliot, Cath or Cassie at Flying Smiles Kites. They have Freileins, Handles and Custom Linesets.  Honest Business with Great Service.    https://flyingsmileskites.com/

I use the Refractive properties of the fabric to control how the panels flash.. These first two videos are using offset directions so the individual panels flash is a sequence.

This kite is made of both Ripstop and poly.. Notice the Shimmer effect.

And this is what happens when you align everything. The Whole panel flashes at the same time..

Forget about all the talk about bias of fabric aligning properly  Heard expert about importance of fsdric edge align ment and not very much impact on performance.

From Experience, Alignment of Fabric bias is only "not an issue" until it is.. For Fabrics like Icarex, it's much less of an issue but when Ripstop (RSN) gets wet and starts stretching, those alignments matter because the stretch is uneven along the biases. It doesn't take too long to get the bias of the fabric aligned in most cases so IMO it's worth it in the long run. At a minimum, your bias alignment should match on the mirrored panels so when stretching does occur, it does so somewhat evenly.

FWIW, I've probably played with the bias and mismatching of fabrics as much as anyone (more for refractive purposes than stretch) and I'll take the extra time to align the biases every time.

I've also never used a walking foot but that's a different conversation..

  10. The Quality of the thread is huge here.. A high quality bonded thread is paramount. The gumminess of the adhesives will make lesser threads start skipping stitches very quickly. The fuzzier the thread the faster you will encounter issues.  I clean needle, sewing foot and platform every bobbin. I disassemble and clean the whole assembly every other kite. (Some residue seems to gather ion the bottom of the platform sometimes.)
