This thing is getting very heavy..
-
Thank You, Also noted the SuperSonic is also quite a bit stiffer at the LE junction than would be typical.. I'm asking because I'm trying to bypass that need in the night kite with lights.. It's getting pretty heave and right now I'm looking at a 126" LE.. Thank you again for the response.

While I have answered this question many times in the past for others, I've only parroted the conventional wisdom and given the explanation most accepted.. The Screen (or holes) along the leading edge definitely affect reverse flight BUT my question is.. If you've flown one without either, was the kite completely unwieldy or just difficult to fly in reverse?? Please respond only if you've flown one without either the LE Mesh or LE Holes.. I understand the principle behind it but want to explore a different tact.. Would like to hear the voice of experience.

I also made a small pocket to hold the batteries and controllers one everything is permanent.. It will be sewn onto the back of the center panel and have a velcro enclosure.
-
Wholeheartedly concur with the both of you.. I realized that it was easier to find battery operated holiday lights and just switch out the heavy battery pack with the button cell holder.. finding the lights on a flat ribbon was priceless.. A little update on the kite.. I figured out how I want to finish the center. With a weave pattern inspired by Eliot Shook .

Dual Panel Light test video. Sail tension will hold the LEDs in place. Batteries powered one panel for nearly 2 hours last night and are still going strong. Continuing the battery life test using both panels this time. I will acknowledge this will be a heavy sail and will have a fairly narrow wind range.. HOWEVER, when it will fly, this is going to be a blast to fly in the dark.. Will complete the center panel, edge bind and finish getting ready for the Leading Edge hopefully this weekend. This is not a "performance" stunt kite. This is a night display you can steer.. hopefully..

RNG has it easy, it only has to pull my number out of around 350 choices.. Have you really dug into that colorizer??? I haven't even scratched the surface yet and will not be able to really make up my mind when I win.. -
Me too.. cutting and Assembly table is in my future..

OK, before this goes any further. A quad set of 120' takes 486 feet of line. you only get 2 sets out of 1000'. and that leaves enough for an additional short set of dual lines. When Eric said 120' Dual I realized that IF I could swing that it would be about my limit. I only have the one spool of 1000' that I purchased to make myself a few sets including a short set of 40ft and a 80ft. I don't have enough to offer especially if 120' linesets are the desired length.. At this point, I'd say, check with Eliot or Kent as to availability of bulk line. I don't have enough to share that much and was considering loaning a set if needed. Sorry but this well doesn't have that much water. @esinger has dibs on a 120' dual set IF I can swing it. Outside of that, Eliot or Kent are probably your best choices.. Skybond is getting hard to find. If you find 1000' rolls of 350# anywhere, PLEASE let me know. -
After the second cut, I have the final 2 perspective pairs.. need more tape to get ready to sew. This one was the only 2 perspective left.. From here on out, Single perspective sails will round out the effort as long as the fabric lasts..

If you don't find what you are looking for by April, We'll work it out and make sure you are covered..FWIW, I'd rather pull fresh line off the spool. The 240 set was a bear to get equalized due to the length.. -

No, but I'm willing to possibly share some of it.. What are your needs?.. I have a few linesets I need to make as well.. -

@esinger I've been told nevermore for the 350# and 250#. Not sure about the 50# and 100#. Now that being said.. of the 100#.. What do you need?. I have one 1000' spool of 100# I haven't touched yet. Plus i have the 240' quad lineset I haven't chopped yet. -
Just a quick 3 minute time lapse to provide insight into panel assembly.. Not saying this is the right way or the only way; only that this is the way I construct panels.
