In 30MPH, (if I'm not flying a foil in the buggy) I'm flying the homemade #1..
If it breaks, I sew it back. It is literally the wind I built it for, duct Tape and all. It'll cover the broad stroke of wind 15-20mph+ at Jockey's Ridge..
One word of wisdom that few ever truly follow but I'd be remiss if I didn't at least try..
FLY more than you buy... Learn each new kite and what it will do in your hands before getting the next one..
It will enable you to guide your own choices much better than any of us can.. I can give you my opinion on what's best all day long. it also might be the totally wrong answer for you and your flying style.. Just because the "expert" flies something specific doesn't mean it's the the best or only game in town. Become your own expert and you'll quickly see what I mean. AND most importantly, follow this advice and you'll spend a lot less money on this wonderful hobby of ours.. Anyone that disagrees with me probably has a kite for sale..
The newer fingerlights aren't made to make the batteries replaceable.. You just toss them. they seem to be cheaper than the batteries would be anyway.. I extract the LED from ones that die.. I use the salvaged LEDs for other projects..
The Nite Ize Moonlits use CR2032 batteries though. and are able to be changed out.
Some lines are made up of many small strands. The Hook part of the Velcro can try to stick to those strands the same way it would adhere to the loop part.. Velcro can also pick many fabrics.
LED lights have almost no heat..They do not get warm to the touch at all..
They have a built in rubber band.. just put it on the spar the same way you'd put it on your finger.. They backlight a lighter colored sail VERY nicely.. I've used them MANY MANY times. You do lose some some times, they occasionally will pop off.. no big deal..As long as they stay lit they are easy to find.. I usually give the ones I use in a session to any kids that are spectators..

Honestly unless you are yanking things around pretty hard (and some of us do) any of those options will work pretty well. and in all honesty, the video doesn't really do them justice.

Same items basically as the first link.. My kite had 6 of them clipped on it.
The Red White and blue with the moonlights is my Homemade Fullsail #2
The Rev at about 30seconds in is @ACrop using the finger lights I linked to on Amazon
They clip arounfd the spars pretty well and a small rubber band will keep them from sliding up and down the spar..
There are also these. https://smile.amazon.com/Etekcity-Finger-Lights-Supplies-Assorted/dp/B00D62VF1W
Despite their noted 6 month shelf life, I have boxes a few years old still going strong.. and they are basically disposable at that price..
Tube tails are a bit different since they "inflate" so for those start about 6 ft from the tail end to get the air out and roll it up the same way.. That forces the air out the mouth of the tail..a Small bungee or even a small pouch works well to manage the bundle when rolled. Treat a tube tail like a big inflatable but just on a much smaller scale.
