The flying line standards are Laser Pro Gold or Skybond. I personally prefer Skybond but that is an individual choice. 90lb or 100lb is the most common but 50lb for light wind conditions is also a standard practice.. Check out @John Barresi's Line equalization tutorial and it will give you all of the info you need to make your own lines.. A little prep work with my E.S.K. and you can be ready to make a set of lines in a very short amount of time. I've seen a few UK sites when I was researching other items.. https://www.kiteworld.co.uk/acatalog/Revolution-Line-Set.html#SID=144

The Freilein Kites seems to be getting a lot of attention and the workmanship on them is top notch.. I have 6 Freileins and can't even find a single stitch out of place.. If you can find an older Rev B-series (Not their "Classic") it would be a good choice.. An older 1.5 with no Reflex Springs would also be a good choice.. If you find an SLE though, try to avoid the 7/16" Leading Edge.. While it's very stiff and sturdy, it's also quite heavy and does change the way the kite flies. Even an EXP (Pre-Spring) would be a great step in the right direction. ***Note.. For Some Reason Rev seems to think everyone wants Springs and that's simply not true.. Some people LOVE them.. Some not so much. I honestly fall into the latter category.) If you are proficient on the HQ Mojo, the Rev/Freileins or similar design will be an absolute dream to fly.

Having Trouble staying signed in
riffclown replied to riffclown's topic in The Web Site (nuts and bolts)
I cleared cookies on all devices which didn't help.. I can stay logged in for a bit and then i have to log in again.. It's even logged me out while I was on the site.. Not sure what's going on but the fact that it affects more than one device makes me wonder.. Maybe going back and forth between devices is a factor.. Does not affect the KiteLife App on my phone though..(I use the browser on my tablets..) -

Over the last few days, it seems I can't remain signed in. I have to log in repeatedly. Anyone else experiencing the same. It's happening to me on multiple devices.

FS #3 is complete and first flight was today.. While there was almost no breeze, I was very encouraged by first flight..

Woke up with a song in my head this morning.. "Let's Go Fly a kite! We'll see if i made them right even though the wind is light we'll keep them soaring throw launch the sail first time catching the air so fine. come, let's go.....Fly a kite.. Even though I wasn't able to make the Wright Festival today, I had to get out for a few minutes before the rain hit to get first flight in on these sails. FS #3, Mesh #6 and the Spectrum Stack have all flown. (very light wind but I do have a touch of video proof)

Another View of the Spectrum Stack. Spectrum First Flight was encouraging. I still need about 2mph more to get them in a good comfort range but I'm very encouraged with this first attempt at a home made stack. -

Another Shot of t Mesh #6. Almost Zero wind but First Flight was still encouraging. Sail will be my go to sail when the wind is higher and i want some speed. -

First Flight of the Spectrum Stack.. No throw launch on these yet since I have quite a bit of tuning and bungee Trimming before they are ready for that kind of stress.. I loved this particular frame where you could see the peaks of each sail peeking through the stack and adding their particular color to the overall effect. This might just be my favorite picture of this stack. -

First Flight of Full Sail #3.. Kept the tradition of throw launching on first flight alive.. Sail flew exactly as expected. No surprises.. Very happy with this First Flight and with this sail.. -
Looks like first flight for my new kites is going to have to be altered.. I won't be able to make the Wright festival this year after all.. Hopefully I'll get out for a few minutes to my regular flying field.. If so I'll try to fly'em and get some footage there. Sometimes Life Happens

So this kite has a new home.. @SHBKF agreed to keep it safe and fly it every opportunity he can.. Enjoy it..
-
So @SHBKF will be keeping Mesh #4 well flown for me.. Enjoy it buddy..

I can't argue with you there. Stacks have always been an attraction to me. Now I can say with confidence, "I built it myself." It may end up being kept as an assembled completed stack like my Boleros. For now this is my start point. I'll adjust as needed for space or convenience.

Bridles are done this kite stack is ready for its flying debut.
-
I know Paul pretty well.. Missed flying with him this year at the ODSKC but that's a whole different story..My Stacks are nested the same way you'd fold and roll a single kite.. i just include allowances for the additional bulk. In the case of the Spectrum Stack, it will be folded twice around about a 14inch Z Fold and then rolled. I'll also be fabricating endblocks to hold the spars to add order and rigidity to the bundle when packed and packing.

I need to tweak the center lines and tune on first flight but they are stacked now... Tying the bridle for the front kite tomorrow..
