This is what I pull out when the winds pick up. I'd love for you to be able to try it.

I purchased the 10' Scimitar when I was in rehearsal for EPCOT's "Surprise in the Skies". We had already been flying stacks of 5 foot Peter Powell's off the back of ATVs when the producers informed us that they were looking for a different stack of kites for another segment of the show. In my mind the Scimitar would have been perfect to fly off the back of a boat; the producers had other ideas. After testing one of Mike Simmons' 12'-15' RBK wings, they settled on a three stacks of TOTL Hawaiian Team kites. I, on the other hand, settled on returning to my permanent job at Disney 😉. Power kiting has never my my thing. After visiting someone who was recovering from a broken pelvis due to a man-lifting accident, it never will be.

That would be fun to try!! I was told to try and find a 10' one!!

  2. I know the 9 meter Wosling kite is frames in close to 3/4" and the 12 meter one is framed in 1". I haven't asked Bernd in a few weeks about my 5 meter kite. But hopefully will get that heading my way soon. 15-18 foot dual, I would say that Icarex should be fine, and would agree that the frame, stitching, bridal, and line set will be more of a concern. Thor's Hammer is 12mm and 10mm framing. The problem is finding the fittings. If yo find a source, please let me know! I would also think that if you framed in 12mm it would be strong enough.

I love my vented Mamba. Flies similar to the standard, so if you like the Mamba (as I recall you got one last year) this would be a good option. Ken makes them with removable windows that cover part of the vent so you can adjust to the wind speed. I have had no problem flying mine in winds over 20 mph with ease.

I'm glad to hear this. I like my Mamba and am getting a UL Moonie Mamba this year. I'd like to get a vented Mamba in the near future to finish out my set.

Thank you to all for the great advice on which kite to get. I think I have a line on a Vented Jam Session to go with my Jam that I already have.

I know there are still a bunch that want to weigh in, please do!

    Thanks
