Just print at 100% at a print shop should be like 20-30 bucks total with a tube to out your plans in. Use a thin corrugated cardboard for templates. Something you don’t have to cut through twice. Cut your templates out with extra paper on the seams and tape to cardboard and cut along the line. Wish someone told me these little things when I started my first build. Don’t waste time or effort hot cutting anything. Icarex and Mylar doesn’t need it, for nylon and Dacron just burn the edges with a lighter or run it against a soldering iron. Pay attention to your machine tension. Always test it on 6 inches of fabric before you sew your sail. Make sure the fabric is folded over double and has seams stick so you can dial in the tension before you sew your sail. If your sewing through icarex, nylon, and Dacron at the same time make the same layers, including seam stick and test. You’re probably going to need to adjust your bobbin tension for Dacron. Make sure you have a lot of needles you will be changing them every time your machine makes a different noise, seam stick gunks up the needle and you will miss stitches. Check your bobbin before every seam, you run out halfway through and you gotta go either rip out the whole seam of try and start it from where you ran out of bobbin. Have fun building, take your time and don’t get frustrated it’s a relaxing hobby. And when you tie bridles. Give it 7 adjustment points by the spine and by the top APA and set it to the middle then do measurements on the bridle. You’ll thank yourself at the flying field. Oh and tie off your stitches and burn them as you work so you don’t forget at the end.

Just about finished with a Le Quartz sail and I definitely want to make something on the kareloh website. I noticed his plans only include a one pager of the the molds and the blueprints. How do I use these? Project them?

You can buy the sail, bridal, and bag and frame it yourself. Kites and fun things (skyburner) can help you with framing it and getting the right hardware.

maybe I’ll just order a n3e sail I have 6 5pts. Maybe order some nitros and frame her up. I’ll try that next time I’m out and theres some standard wind. I’m getting very sensitive to inputs and am starting to see how it should feel based on description.

Yeah can fly at the top of the window pop and just give a good amount of slack and it’s rolled up. fade on my shadow is more stable than the hydra. I still need down yo yos and that’s the first step to a yo fade. I just really need to fly this week. I finally got a couple hours today and got my yo lazy a solid. And side unrolls. hydra is weird I can’t feel how much tension to give or take. Need more time on the lines in fade. yeah my gf said she wants to buy me a kite this. Christmas so I told her level one badass or benson. Just told her the bensons are two months out lmao.

I literally just sent benson an order trying to see how long it’ll take. My LKS didn’t have the deep space otherwise I would have bought today. also I just discovered my back seats fold down so I can transport a level one badass. So I’m stuck between the two. I allowed to buy one kite lmao. I don’t really like deep turtles it’s hard to get out of you gotta lazy out pop or half lazy fade barrel. The hydra sits shallow and is easy to get out just a little pop and you’re there. ive been flying with one thought now, fly the lines not the kite and it’s been helping me manage slack a lot more. My footwork has gotten a lot better. yeah I’m getting a lot of tricks every time I’m out. Haven’t flown for a couple weeks since my SUL broke but I got new spars so we are back up. Going to work on JLs soon. Idk why but that trick scares me. Yeah got some 540s the other day but I lost it. Yo lazy and fractured axel is getting solid in the hydra. I need to work on my 2 pops too. Hydra yo yos too easy. Makes me expect too much from other kites. I got some flic flags today. My fade is getting solid.

I just watched the supernova video in the benson site. Taz cascades and coiln tosses look really cool on it but I didn’t see it roll I’ll and it doesn’t look like there are stoppers in the picture online. So I’m not too sure about yo-yo based stuff in this kite. I’m sure you could install stoppers. Deep space is a roll up machine. JB rolled one up like 30 something times and unrolled. Get an ATM to match your dream machine?

This is why I’m going with a deep space. Zuul flies close to my home field and makes his own kites too so I trust his words. Deep space is classic. Watching trick or treat got me wanting a deep space too. And my LKS has a deep space STD and I’d much rather buy all my kites from there than online. And now I’m also sad I’m not getting the nirvana so I need a new kite this weekend and it seems like the deep space is the coolest kite that he currently has that I can pickup.

She flies too lol. She just knows that I have a large wind range covered so I shouldn’t be buying another kite lol. She doesn’t trick though so it’s hard to explain the quirks and nuances of different kites.

I’m with you on the deep space Mike. I’ve been watching the trick or treat videos the last couple days and my want for a benson is very heightened right now. Lmao I’m in the same boat. I’m not allowed to buy a kite for 4 months, supposed to be 6 but she’s being nice. I acquired 5 kites in 2 months.

Great thing about flying in Berkeley is that most of these kites are accessible to try before I buy lol. There’s a M3 coming soon. Rob said I shouldn’t outgrow the nirvana anytime soon but we all wanna add a new kite to our bag all the time right? I think the next one getting put in my bag is a deep space. I’m starting to be able to hit a lot of tricks in a fast succession, want something really tricky. I think Highline has a purple std so no waiting for Tim to build and ship one from across the pond. I know there’s a couple Geminis and an outer space there. I spoke to lam maybe 3 weeks ago? I was just about to buy an ATM. He gets them from flying wings in Taiwan. I ended up getting a shadow instead because i didn’t want to be down for a couple weeks waiting for the ATM SUL to be made and be not flying while there was UL winds.

No one was home to get it and they sent it back to the UK lol. It’s coming next Friday. I’m excited. I’ll let you know how it goes. There’s a guy that that flies out where I do that has a full set of nirvanas. I think my next few kites are going to be a lam, a blue moon, and a benson. There’s so many good kites to buy. Yeah I do but 40 min drive to catch good winds with good people is no deal at all. Out in so cal for the weekend. on another note. Does anyone have a fulcrum or a benson airbow? I wanna try this 4 line with dual line capabilities, but not bad enough to spend the fulcrum money.

Love their 100# set it’s my most flown lines. I have a fresh 175# but I haven’t really found a day to fly them. Maybe when my nirvana comes.

So I bought an N3E off of Stunt Kites Garage Facebook group and it’s been about 2 weeks over the time that the guy told me it was going to come and it’s been quite some time since he’s been replying, I’m fully ready to except the fact that I got scammed. Not really upset about the money just upset that I don’t get a new killer kite to fly. With that being said, what do I get now? A Lam? A benson? A BMK? Order a Nirvana 1E from R-Sky?

Wrap line sets from your handles to your kites so you can attach and unroll without staking it down. Spend a lot of time learning cartwheels and belly flips. Try and fly on the side in the grass at shoreline? That’s what I do to try and keep the leading edges on my kites from getting to banged up there and you can stake down.

Just got some 50# from OSK and it snapped about 1/4 from the sleeving close to my straps. Popped for an axle in like 2/3mph. Equalized and resleeved on the spot but it’s still irritating on a new line set. Flew for maybe 1/2 hours.

Spoke to Lam maybe last week about an ATM SUL or something that would fit my needs. Something that will fly in next to nothing but is fully trickable in 3+. We decided an ITM or a new Dream Machine SUL was the best fit for this. Going to make this my next purchase once I'm allowed to buy kites again. The Shadow is really tricky. The stock bridle is a turbo, but its really prone to over steer. I fly a ITW Hydra as my main learning STD kite and it is a lot easier to track than the shadow. The great thing about the Shadow is that you can fly it walking backwards and using lightwind techniques to keep it up. Once it starts flying on it's own, it is trickable. Great kite. I want something that isn't so twitchy though.

Drive to field 1/3. Get to field and set up kite 1/3. Drive home 1/3. 2/3 lmao
