    My REV1

VV Well this is my attempt at a rev 1. Didnt turn out too bad. May need a stiffer l/e but thats for later. Derek
  3. ant man. Regarding the 120 line on a single winder. Do you ever get in a tangle unwinding or winding in. Im asking as i use two winders and was just wandering wether one winder would be better Regards. Derek
  4. REV 1 3-wrap SLE 3-25 25 seems a bit high to me 15, yes but only just What do others think. Regards. Derek.
  5. I have put P200 spars all round in my 1.5. Nice. Derek.
  6. Baloo. Sorry mate, that was my intention but as you can see above i changed my mind. Again, as above, i just dont think i need one yet. Maybe when i get a bit better i might consider one, but at the moment i have my hands full with what i have now. Regards. Derek.
  7. v Baloo. Im not being funny or disrespectful to the creator of the B, but i cant see how it will help me to be a better rev flyer to get a B. i have an SLE 1.5/vented EXP/and the one above which i have just made REV1. Now, if i were a good rev flyer and i needed the best there is, i would get a B. But im not in that league yet so i will learn on what ive got and then think about a B. Hope my comments dont bring the wrath of the great one(JB) crashing down on my head ant man. I got the idea from John Mitchell and it really does fly smoth in the heavy winds we have in UK. I modified it because i have an SLE but i didnt have a vented rev, so rather than buy one i modified my EXP. Anyway you have enough revs to play with you greedy bugger, hehehe Best regards. Derek.
  8. There you are ant man,my vented EXP Flys ho so sweet in heavy winds Regards Derek
  9. I would suggest getting one from your local kite shop. They are usually cheap enough and will save you all the pain of making one and getting the bridle just right. John. Yes. the bridle for the rev1 is about £6.50. But as you know its so satisfying to build a rev yourself and see it fly. Derek.
  10. HI ALL. Just built my rev 1 from plans on the net. Can anyone give me the dimensions of the bridle. The plans give them but the rev is a bit mushy and i would like to check with the proper thing. The plans dimensions are.= I willtake the left wing as example== 63cm 78cm 13cm. Vertical bridles are 22cm 67cm 20cm Hope you can understand. Regards . Derek .
  11. Mike, im curious. What did you use instead of mesh for the l/e vent and does it work. Derek.

    rev panels

You know when you make a rev with the panels going from top to bottom like s Sedgwick. Well , do you make the panels to the correct size in the first place, then sew the panels together, or do you make the panels over size top end bottom and sew them together and THEN cut the rev to the outline you want. Im asking as i have only made a F/2000 out of one piece of fabric, and never made one with panels before. Regards. Derek. OK FOUND THE ANSWER. Derek
  13. Sorry not exactly on the same subject but, as a biginner with revs a used to have to wander all over the flying field ie, you start in the middle and before you know it your half way down the field (you all know what its like). Anyway one of the first lessons i learned was to ALWAYS pick up my ground spike.!!! Emagin the scene; wufer on his first or second go with a rev. Starts in the middle of the field, rev going whare ever it wants to go. ten minutes latter, wufer two hundred yards from whare he left his ground spike. Wufer gets a wing rap. Wufer not got two hundred yard arms. Wufer in big trouble. Wufer learn the hard way very quickly. Derek
  14. Penny. I go into hospital soon--- hope i dont meet THAT surgon thank you very much.!!!!!!!! Derek
  15. Gail force winds and snow reported for UK this weekend. Good luck. Derek
  16. Steve Ill take your advice and get lighter lines. Thanks. Mike. Can you read my mind !!!. What im going to do is get a B series THEN i will convert my EXP into a vented EXP. That was my original idea to do after John Mitchell put the idea in my mind. Regards Derek
  17. Well from what i see there is just one to go for and that is the B series. Thank you all for your inputs. It really does help. John M. Yes i do get a lot of fun out of flying rev,s but at the moment i,m just learning. And with the unsteady winds we have inland in UK it might take my a while to learn but it will be worth it when it all comes together. Steve, thanks for mentioning the lines, i have two sets of 90lbx75ft so ill sort something out. Thanks Derek
  18. Greetings from Yorkshire UK. I hope , by now some of you have had a few hours on John,s B series. I am torn between buying a B series or a Rev 1 Sedgwick. Bearing in mind, here in yorkshire we have more moderate than light winds and also i am a relative biginner with revs, what would you people in the know sergest. I have all ready got an EXP, but i want a rev that the big boys fly. John, you need not answer as i think i know what you will say (wink,s) Regards Derek
  19. John. Right. The way i did it was this. I put my sail on my work bench with the top edge away from me. Put some double sided tape 1/4" down from the top. Then i placed my mesh top edge onto the tape. Next i put some tape on my mesh top edge; folded the 1.4" sail down over the tape on my mesh. All that went ok. BUT then i had to fold the mesh back up on its self so the sail and the mesh were flat ready to sew. To me, the mesh seemed to be too stiff , so as i folded it up and tryed to stick it , the sail would bend under on its self and i didnt know how to keep the sail flat on the bench while i bent the mesh up so im sorry to say i gave up and ommited the mesh.( must try harder ). Well i hope you can understand that. It might take a bit of doing. Now go on ,tell me i did it all wrong !!!! Derek
  20. Jim. If youve read my other mutterings you will know i had a bit of dificulty in fitting my l/e mesh. Can you remember where you got yours from please ,and can i order from the same place. Thank you Derek
  21. Mike. John. Thank you , i respect your comments. The reason i didnt use venting was that as this was my first kite build i didnt want to make a mess of it. The venting i used was a bit thick and i was having difficulty in fitting it and makeing it look good, maybe on my next build i will try to get some thinner mesh or use your idea on the holes Mike. Anyway, as built, my rev is ok for me for now. Its teaching me the first steps in rev flying and thats what counts. As for your comment John "Revs do fly better"; that is true but half the enjoyment is to see a rev that I built ,fly by my own hands and that really brought a smile to my face. Im sure you know what i mean. Derek
  22. i thought i had better start a new post as chating on someone elses is not right. good luck with your new rev build. You didnt say which plan you are using?. i think my next build will be the rev1(clone of course) on revomania.com. The only thing ill change it to NOT use the vent just below the l/e. I built my freedom 2000 without one and im not a good flyer so i cant tell the diference but it flys ok Also im using a bridle designed for new flyers i got from someone on another forum. Anyway good luck and build it good . Derek
  23. ant man. which plans are you working from, for the rev. Derek
  24. Chris. Dont bother about your kite being original. Iv just made a Freedom 2000 which is a rip off rev and its teaching me to fly just fine Ok so its not got all the rev colours and meybe its not built to the rev standards but it flys ok and thats what counts bro. Derek (west riding of yorkshire)
  25. JUST to be a monkey, I have FLOWN it. and ? AND??
