  3. Is there any difference between the framing on the Mid-Vent vs the Standard Sea Devil? Rx

    Race Rods

They are my rod of choice... if winds get above 13 MPH I will slip in a 3 wrap... and 4 wrap above 18... don't have much use for the 2 wraps anymore Rx
  6. Hmmm... Cool, I did not know they made a B-Serries SUL, I will have to check that out. I have found that the STD 1.5 with Race Rods, compares very well with my 1.5 SUL with 2-wrap rods I would give it 80% of the equation. Rx
  7. Do you already have a Rev 1.5? If so, order a set of "Race Rods", that should keep you going in lighter winds. Rx

    Kite Lingo

If you make it to a couple "Safety Meetings" you will be well on your way....\ Rx
  9. Fearless STD Rev 1.5 Vent Sea Devil UL 7 1/2 ft give or take My daily meditation 85 - 120 ft. 90 lb. Rx
  10. Here is a diagram on how to add a wing tip tensioner. If you don't have any dacron line, some thin dress shoelaces will work. At the very least I would be glad to send you some. As for the bridle it is a little hard to see in your pictures, but I would try make the left side a copy of the completed right side. In your last photo it looks like the Larks head knot in the middle of the picture needs to slide to the left revealing the tow point. Rx
  11. I had pictured it on a Rok. I am not a big single line flyer. Something stable would be nice. Rx
  12. I understand that only 7-15 % of our society are Humanists, and that this topic has the potential to draw some hate from the fundamental religious sectors of our society, so I just wanted to say thank you to kite life for giving it a chance. That said.... I think the Darwin Fish would be great; I have one on my car, but really like the Invisible Pink Unicorn for purely aesthetic reasons. Rx
  13. The 3D is a small kite, you may want to look at a bigger sail. You may find a store that still has the discontinued Prism Flashlight (that would be my pick for you). The New Tech Desire and Flying Wings Acrobatx UL are also in your price range. From there things get a little more expensive... I don't think the 50 lb line is going to make a noticeable difference for your Quantum. Rx
  14. I did not like the Nirvana Variable Vent, but enjoy the standard Nirvana very much. Sky Sport kites are in a class by themselves. They get most of the air time when I am flying dual line. Rx
  15. Of course this is a very personal choice. Pick the colors you like the best. IMHO the Citrus only looks good on the Zephyr sail design. Here is a picture of my color choice. Rx
  16. the Nirvana seems sturdy... have not broken anything on mine. Rx
  17. I second the Quantum, when the winds get in the teens, it does pull to much for me, but it is a great beginner kite in the 5 to 12 MPH range. Most of us end up with several kites for different conditions. Rx
  18. I use 5/16th stainless steel. A little more expensive ($5.50 a ft.). For your drill press, clamp a thick board down and drill an 1 1/4 hole with a wide blade, then replace with a 5/16th bit. the hole in the board is now centered, put the golf ball in it and hit center everytime. Rx
  19. 3 kites come to mind. The Skate by Focus Designs The Long Way Home by Synergetic Kites (also check out their plans for the Urban Ninja) http://www.horvath.ch/ninja/the_urban_ninja.html The 61/49 by Blue Moon Fabrications Rx
