  1. 5-10mph is just about perfect for many single line kites! I would consider 5 and below more of a low wind situation. That being said, you can never go wrong with a delta kite. There are so many sizes, designs, and price ranges for them. While I'm more into sport kiting now, it was my single lines that really sparked my interest in kiting years ago. I still fly my "SLKs" when I just want to kick back and relax.

I've seen some nicely made inexpensive deltas by Prism and HQ out there. If you don't have any kite shops near you, there are some wonderful places online to get good kites: Into The Wind, Gomberg Kites, Flying Smiles Kites, The Kite Shoppe, The Kite Loft...

  2. Nice to see you on the forum Quad Kit, it's been awhile!!!

As for your stake… Awwww. Sounds like some good memories are attached to that!

I have a few stakes currently left on my Etsy site, but I am in the process of restocking my supplies and making more. Any color combination requests? You can see many of my previous stakes here, if you're curious about what I've already done: https://www.etsy.com/shop/LeshockArts/sold?ref=shopinfo_sales_leftnav

And of course, I'll do custom orders upon request. Just send me a message if you'd like me to do that. :)

  3. Best of Luck to you both! You're at the right age to be doing such a journey and I hope you'll both be happy in your travels. Please consider a stop at "The Hill" in York, PA as many good fliers gather there. I think a little group could easily happen and the view is very nice! :)

  4. We received our Aerostakes yesterday and they look GREAT!

I am SO glad that you all are enjoying my Aerostakes! I think it's fun to have different stakes to suit your moods and match your kites. I started making these when I first picked up my Rev in 2008. My personal prototype isn't nearly as pretty as these, but it's still quite solid.

I'm quite very bummed that I cannot ship them to my flier friends overseas. The shipping costs are just obscene. :(
