    Trick Id

That would be a jacob's ladder. The half backspin part can be more of a barrel roll or a terminated backspin, making the trick either crisp or smooth and flowing.
  2. I believe that that is a rolling cascade.
  3. I just did a bit of a reframe of my rev 1.5 SLE. It now has a p200 outer LE/p90 inner LE and p90 down spars. I flew it a bit tonight in the front yard, and it shows lots of promise. Hopefully I will able to fly it indoors sometime soon Still trying to get access to a good indoor spot. Does anyone else fly a 1.5 indoors? Any suggestions on frame and bridle changes? I would love to get indoor rev and/or the really light LE, but they are currently out of my price range and thus aren't an option.
  4. I will probably be up at the air and space museum. I didn't have any weights on it when I posted that, but have since found a heavier spine with a bit of weight to really help pitch.
  5. I got interested in kites late winter/early spring of 2004, when a into the wind magazine somehow showed up on my doorstep. I still don't know how it got there. I looked at all the kites, and thought that the e2 must be the best kite in the world I couldn't afford what looked to be the best cheap kite out there, the beetle, so I went to the bookstore and got a book on kite building. I made tons of little sleds out of straws and trash bags, eventually using some of the rainbow mylar ITW used to sell and dowels. I even made a 6' sled out of tyvek, which worked well until the 1/4" dowels broke and ripped through the sail. That Christmas, I got a beetle and the book stunt kites.I learned to fly, and had no difficulties. I flew that for about nine months, and then I got a screaming meemie. It is about a nexus, except faster, smaller, tighter and faster turning, and less trickable. I thought that it must have been the best kite around. Little did I know . I went to OBSKC, and there met a bunch of people who pointed me in the right direction. I started going to a few flies with the local club, flew an STX, and got a COMP and UL. At the next competition, I actually got a first in novice precision I wasn't expecting that. since then, I have gotten into revs a bit, but I still like dual line kites better.
  6. I did that one with icarex, but my most recent ones have been using a white .5oz nylon sail. I don't think that it would make much of a difference , due to the low stress on the sail. These are the last 2 I have made.
  7. I designed an indoor kite, called the i-comp, and I would like to see what you all think of how it does/should perform. I have no experience with indoor kites that I have not designed, so I don't know what I should be aiming for. here are the specs: wingspan: 50" height: 25" weight: ~1.5oz by my kitchen scale it has venting in the wingtips and the end of the keel. I know that this is an awful picture, but you can get the general shape. The standoffs are 2 standoffs per side, a few inches apart. there is a batten on the inboard side that makes a smoother transition. I think that it flies wonderfully. Flat spins lose very little altitude and are very flat. It is very happy on its back, and can do easy multilazies and insanes. I have been able to Jacobs ladder it pretty regularly over the past few days. Fades are fairly stable, I am really bad about keeping kites in fades, but this kite almost always keeps itself from rocking to much. Precision is good, squares are easy on even 10' lines. I haven't been able to get it to do a complete backspin, but half backspins are easy and it shows no hesitation. It is very forgiving of inputs, so slot machines, 540s, and helicopters are really easy. If the nput to get it into a fade isn't quite right, it will still normally float into it. Catch and throw is very good. Is there something that it should do that it doesn't?

    Ballet Kite

I don't think it matters much. If you are comfortable with the silver foxes, use them. If you are competing in novice, you won't need a vent. If in the rare circumstance you do, there are always people willing to help.
