Fellsway,
I don't know about the performance of Trlbys with Dynakite tails but I also am in love with Trlbys. Whenever I can find one I snap it up. I have a five stack, a three stack, and a single. My daughter has a two stack which she let's me fly once in a great while. I have a couple more that I am saving to cannibalize for parts as needed. Oh, how I wish they were still in production.
Keep us informed on the conversion to ripstop. I may have to do it, too. Just to keep the thrill alive.
Good luck.

I guess I'll just say good-bye. Lately, it seems the conversations deteriorate into either sexual innuendo or degrading comments about woman. It's one thing to poke some fun and I have done it too but the comments have gone beyond fun.
Someone lately was wondering why there weren't more woman in kiting? Well, think about it.
Enjoy your "little boys" club.

I'm here! I have no answer for why there aren't more female fliers. There are only two regular fliers in our area of the NC coast. And one of us runs the local kite shop and doesn't get out as much as she would like. I fly with the guys and we have a good time together. Some of the wives or significant others don't like the heat or the sand or the sweat. Many couples want time to themselves and nurture "his and hers" interests. And it takes a strong-minded single woman to walk up and join a group of men out on the flying field on her own. I probably wouldn't have started flying if it wasn't a mutual interest with me and my DH.

I don't think anything could keep you guys in line. Although I wouldn't mind some more women to converse with. It would clean things up around here a little. You know. Subjects like raising kids, raising husbands, raising husbands who are kids, raising husbands who are becoming more like kids as time goes on, etc.
How about the Rev going to someone who doesn't fly Revs to introduce them to the kite. I like purple.
Anyone going to ODSKC?

Only two more days until we find who will be the next person to bust his butt with this kite. For once, I hope it's not me. Of course, I could give it to my son-in-law. LOL Naw, that wouldn't be fair to my daughter.

Since we're talking about numbers, I just realized I don't even know what my membership number is. Hey, Mr. Webmaster, could you tell me my not-so-magic number, please?
I will be lucky if my post count reaches 25 since I'm more of a "troll" than a conversationalist. LOL. I will say you guys have brought me out of my hole quite often lately.

After thinking about it, this one might be just the thing for my son-in-law. A good pull around the park might be ..... On the other hand, he is pretty good kid and I really don't want to see him hurt. Or I could give it to my husband. He would end up in Bermuda. Thinking, thinking....
As for me, I like my stacks and they have more than enough pull. Win or lose, I'm good. Enjoy guys.

WOW!!! I'm speechless! I wasn't expecting this to come out of my reply. Thank you!! You all are most generous. Now I just hope the Gods of the RNG are equally as kind. Thank you again.

You don't need another dualie because you realize that there is another flier who has just come into the game late and has missed the great kites of the past. Someone who really appreciates the "old school" style of flying. Someone who is trying very hard to acquire those special kites of the past and put them into the air again. Out of the goodness of your heart you will aid this person in her quest by passing on those numbers. And who might this person be? ME!

I'm just a beginner at making kites. I made my first kite (Hata) in a workshop in October, 2010. Since then I have finished a della porta and another hata. All of these have appliqued designs on them.
I use a Bernina 130 sewing machine with a applique foot for zig-zag and applique, a walking foot for straight seams, and a cording foot for fuzzy tails. My worktable is six feet long with a three foot mirror on one side for hot cutting and a three foot cutting mat for cutting with the rotary tool. Needless to say, I'm not building anything really big right now. Beside the sewing machine is a bookcase with kite magazines, kite books and a ring binder with future kite plans.
The immediate future builds are two special request appliqued hatas, a companion della porta to my first one, and a pan flute kite.
My kite making is on one side of my craft room and my scrapbooking supplies and table are on the other half.

I'll give it a shot.
My favorites are classic kites. I love my Trlbys, my Team Hawaiian, and my Peter Powell. In case of low wind, I have a HQ shadow. And for the beauty factor, I have a whole bag of SLKs, large with lots of tails.
I'm on the Carolina coast which means I fly at the beach.
