Come join us for a celebration of both professional and leisure kite fliers featuring some of the most colorful big “show kites” in the world. The Summer Kite Festival theme is “Stars & Stripes”. The featured fliers at the festival will demonstrate their flying skills throughout the weekend. Anticipated events will include kite workshops, kids kite making, kids parade, Running of the Bols and more! This year come join Ron Gibian and Amy Doran at the Lincoln City Cultural Center as their Kite Art is on exhibit the entire month of June in the main gallery! The Artist Reception will be held Friday June 22 and you all are welcome to come show your support and enthusiasm! We will also have a kite art auction on Saturday night where you will be invited to come bid on your favorite piece. Many local area and out of area kite artists will donate pieces as a fund raiser for the Lincoln City Cultural Center. Your support is greatly appreciated! And on to the festival! We will have a great line up of sport kites and big kites alike at the D-River State Wayside from 10am to 4pm both Saturday and Sunday. October 8 & 9, 2011 The Fall Kite Festival is the original kite festival in Lincoln City. Beginning in 1978, the festival was the dream of a group of local kite enthusiasts which has continued over the years! In it's 33rd year, you can still see many of the original organizers participating in the festivities. Many of the featured fliers will tell you their passion for kite flying started here, in Lincoln City. This year's festival will include featured flier kite flying demonstrations, kids' kite making, kids' passport to kites, Rokkaku battle with past national champion Ronda Brewer, Build your own Rokkaku kite making class, Rokkaku mass ascension, and fun for the whole family. This year's theme is "Rockin the Rokkaku!". For more information call 800-452-2151 or visit www.oregoncoast.org
