Wife and I in Portland -Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for continuing education, hope to stop in LC on the way home Sunday
-
I know of a few women fliers who haven't responded yet, and some have even made careers from the sport/hobby
Donna
Susan
Ronda
Theresa
Sandy
Penny
Lisa
Jeanette
Lynn
Carol
Annie
And I expect to meet more lady's (of kiting) at WSIKF later in the week

Driving up Friday, staying through Sunday, hope to have a new stack tuned by then.

Some pic's of my rev's stacked
I attach pigtails at each connection point, then larks head the stack lines to the pigtails.
That makes it easy to add/remove/switch the kites around

I remember those days, lots of stacks, ballet flying, many dual line teams, and new kite manufactures just starting out
I had been flying for 10 - 12 years by then, mostly Rainbow stacks, Hyper stack, Trilby's, and an Hawaiian (oh!, I still have them all)

John
Going through Brookings on the way home? If you have the time, give us a call.
Steve and Trish
Ditto John,
would be great to see you and TK

That's a great walk thru Rob,
I would only add one thing, especially with new lines.
I switch my top and bottom lines from time to time, and also switch the handle end with the kite end. This will assist even stretch and even wear

Does anyone recall the diameter, length and material/color of SpinOff standoffs? I do have a bundle of miscellaneous spars and they might be mixed in there.

I actually keep the tubes in a large Rubbermaid tote, so they dont see much sun. I also purchased some large carry bags from Into the Wind that the stacks fit into nicely

I too got hooked on the Rainbow Stunt Kites. My story dates back to the late 70's, I was walking the beach in Lincoln City, OR and came across two guys
flying these colorful stack of 6 kites. I stopped to watch for a few minutes, and then they called me over and introduced themselves. Steve Lamb (the owner of the newly opened kite store Catch the Wind) and Steve Edeiken (the creator of the Rainbows). After much encouragement and a little instruction they had me flying and soon purchasing the first of many Rainbows.
I currently have a 10 and 9 stack, and many more new in the tubes

More info on National Kite Month available here
With all the heated discussions about Ebay merchants, and misrepresentations on products made by "someone else" I thought we could use a positive subject.
Yesterday, my wife, son, daughter in law, and granddaughter went to the park to take Easter pictures and fly kites.
Though the wind was not available, I did capture some "moments"
Have a great day and be sure to fly a kite during National Kite Month

I could use a new pair of legs!!
Thanks John/TK

That's cool.
Maybe we can talk Mike Macdonald into trying that at Kite Party! Although, it'd probably take a stack of Thor's Hammers to achieve that type of altitude.
Cheers,
Tom
I like to keep both feet on the ground, thank you

I use a couple of overhead racks in the garage similar to the picture
I used to keep all my kite bags stacked together in a storage closet until a pack rat decided it wanted to chew through some on the bags.
Luckily, the kite bags were repairable and the only kite damaged was a small bite from a Starflake, it did destroy a windsock and my motorcycle leathers.
Now I keep large tubs with our Xmas stuff on the shelves, the kite bags (6) go long ways behind the tubs and my stacks lay across the top of the tubs

Unfortunately there is no longer a kite shop in Tucson. I am into older kites so my sources are Ebay and forums to locate kites for my collection.
My last "new" kite was a REV from Dave's shop in Huntington Beach. I also order bulk line from Corey
Dave and Corey have both been doing the kite thing for a long time, their knowledge and service are both top notch.
Some of my favorite shops I visited over the years:
Kite Country - San Diego
Catch the Wind - Oregon Coast
no longer around:
Windborne Kites - Monterey, California
Grand Bay Kites - Traverse City, Michigan

I have a couple of kites made by Joel, the first one I got is a "Luna Moth" dual line. The second one I got for my wife it'a a single line called "Pink Floyd"
GFAK versions of Joel's designs are still quite nice, the quality of the sewing is just not up to par with the originals. I also have 2 "Luna Moth's" produced by GFAK and you can tell the difference.
