  1. Surprised at the input. I haven't seen a kite up in the air since I moved here. BUT,,, there is always hope. If the breeze is strong enough to fly a traction kite I just may have to take the ol buggy out and make myself sore hoping there is enough wind to scoot along in the grass. Not like the playas I was used to. And then there is a fun fly kite festival in Maryville in April so hope springs eternal as they say. Good flying to all of you. Funny you should mention telescopes, have a 12 inch Dob I like playing with. Just another good hobby.
  2. Moved here from Nevada 2 years ago to Tellico Plains. Have been a member of KiteLife for a few years living in NV. Fly at the Community Center ball fields most days that we get a breeze. Drag out your kite and join me if you see a kite in the air at the fields...Walt
  3. I went out to MisFits Flat on Tuesday as I had to take the day off work and Greg and his family showed up. I was hoping to catch him and with only a few hours to buggy for myself it was a pleasure. I tried to keep pace with Greg but my little 2.7 was no match for his 3 and maybe an extra 50 pounds on my part had a little to do with it. Anyways I hope I can see him or some of his buggy buddies over here again sometime. This is a private playa and closed to motor vehicles so there is just a few square miles of smooth buggying to be had out there. If any of you ever get up to the Reno area get in touch and I will get you out on the playa to play...Walt
  4. Kent. Your name sounds familiar to me. I was working in Vegas a few years back and did a lot of buggying with the Buggybastards,Brian and Marty and not to forget Mike,Lack-o-Slack Dooley. Anyways I did a job in Wendover and was there for a few months and the salt flats are not my idea of great place to buggy. I would rather go to Smith Creek, Black Rock or to a private playa I have access to called appropriately Misfit Flats. Thanks for the reply as I was wondering if anybody even looked at this board.. ..Walt
  5. Anybody in Northern Nevada? Have only met 1 buggier here in the last 5 years. There are a few places to buggy around here...Walt
