  1. 13 days 'til WSIKF!!! (Washington State International Kite Festival)

  2. Congrats to you and your family! I'll go with my youngest's birthday: Dec. 18th, 1:30 PM rk PS: I didn't see anything in your rules about a deadline for guessses. I hope this isn't too late...
  3. Hmmmmm Maybe it's a setting in that fine browser that I'm using (Internet Exploder 6). The zoom 'slide bar' works okay but if I try to click (left or right) on someone's 'pin' and select 'Navigate: Zoom In', it initially zooms in and then immediately redirects to the Forum. I don't think it used to do this but I'm not positive it didn't. Either way, it's NBD (no big deal).
  4. John, How come it kicks me out (back to the Forum) when I try to zoom in on someone's (mine in this case) location? Ed
  5. But, but... Most guys with bols only have one or two. I have three and getting all three going at once is a pretty kewl sight... E this is getting a little too , can we just revisit "slap spank the monkey" instead of this? pleeeeease...
  6. ouch! No it certainly doesn't but talk about making me ROFL! Good one! E
  7. And here I was just tryin' to generate a little revenue for Team iQuad. 45% ? not 50% ? ? ? ~ ed ~
  8. If I can get Theresa to make me up some 120's in time for WSIKF, what would you recommend for my 1.5 Vented? 90# or 150#? Did someone say that one of the requirements for the quad mega fly was that each participant must be wearing at least one piece of iQuad apparel? (t-shirt, sweatshirt, hat, etc...) ~ no Monkey, I don't think a thong would quadify! ~
  9. Wait a minute, you once said you were semi-retired. You got a looooong ways until you're even close to retirement age! (Okay, there's 56 of em. One extra for good measure!) See you at WSIKF? or maybe at the Windchasers Un-Festival on Labor Day weekend? Ed
  10. Already have em! (100' length, me know nothing about 120' 'til I visit iQuad website) Yep, I'm be there for all but the final day (Sun. 8/27). I'm afraid I may not qualify for the mega quad fly for the following reasons: 1. All my quad linesets (50, 90, 150, and 150/90 #) are 100' in length. I'm guessing you will all be flying 120s? 2. I probably don't have near the control (yet) to fly in a group that is that "insanely" (sic) large. And most importantly: 3. I've never flown with a monkey before. Does he go ape if you screw up?
  11. Since there doesn't seem to be much of a response, maybe I'll give it a try if... You could recommend a particular freeware PNG Image Editor that I could download (W2K: work or XP: home)? Thanks, Ed
  12. Okay, I received the 2 wrap frameset yesterday! (thnx. Theresa!) I don't know, it doesn't seem a whole lot lighter than the 4 wrap frameset I ordered it with. We'lllllllll see.... R.K.
  13. How 'bout an airborne stick figure hanging on for dear life on the back side of a (Crown) Bol: BOLENGRUVEN (or would that be "Bolgruven"?) Probably not enough interest out there, but it would be pretty kewl.... Ed
  14. Okay, okay John, Steve, Mike, nckiter (did I miss anyone?) ... I'll leave the sail alone (for now...) Guess I need to give Theresa a call about some 2 wraps... Thanks everyone, Ed
  15. John, your post would seem to indicate that you would prefer the 2x rods over the vent covers. Is that true?
  16. To those that responded, thanks for the feedback. Even though the nays have it (2-1), I still think I might give it a try anyhow. If I'm careful about it, I can always remove the velcro later on if I'm not satisfied with how the modification works out -- or when I get that 1.5 SUL! Dorsal -- Thanks for the details. Made me take a second look at the kite before buying some velcro last night (5/8", will cut in half to make 5/16" strips). My plan (if I go though with it) is to sew the velcro pile along the vertical and upper (LE) horizontal section of each vent EXCEPT for any (vertical) areas where the vent material is sewn to a mylar panel. Mike (& nckiter) -- someone neglected to mention that they purchased the kite with a 4 wrap LE instead of the standard SLE. Since 4 wrap spars are a little bit lighter than SLE spars, I'm hoping that the addition of some velcro and fabric won't make the kite any heavier than what a standard 1.5 SLE Vented would weigh and yet have approx. 2 sq. ft. of additional "sail" surface. Maybe I should get some 2 wrap spars as well as making vent covers. hmmmm... I'll let you all know how it works out if I actually go through with this... Thanks again for the responses.
  17. Okay, I've had my new Rev 1.5 Vented for 10 days now. I finally got out and flew it yesterday but the winds were a little on the light side for this kite. I bought this kite with the intention of having something that I can use on my trips to the coast for when the winds pick up to over 15 mph, but I'd also like to get some flying time with it here in the inland wind "dead zone" where I live (southern Oregon). Before I go and alter a brand new kite though, I thought I'd see if anyone is quadified in flying a Vented Rev with nylon vent-covers (attached around the perimeter of the vents w/velcro)? Is it worth making the alteration? The idea of increasing the wind-range of the kite using this method is intriguing but I'd like to know if it has any adverse effects on the kite either when the covers are is use or not in use. Thanks in advance for any quadified responses...
  18. ARRRRRRRRRGH! Actually, that's okay Theresa, It's beyond your control. Besides, WSIKF is still over a month away and I'm no monkey , so I don't think I'll go bananas if I have to wait a bit longer...
  19. Happy Birthday Kite-head and Spartusseven! (are you really a centenarian?!!! )
  20. Hello Nicolas, While I have never made a purchase from WindPowerSports, I have met Corey Jensen when he was an announcer in years past at WSIKF (Washington State International Kite Festival). Corey has been involved in kiting for over 20 years and in kite sales for at least 7 years to my knowledge. From what I know of him, I would consider him highly reputable, and no, I'm not saying this because we share the same last name! Sit tight, I think Corey's email was totally sincere and honest. Ed Jensen
  21. Okay, I'm in for $50.00. Sorry you caught me in a big expense month or I'd give more (between the daughter's Prom Dress and her H.S. Graduation party, I'm feeling kinda strapped for cash. I know, excuses, excuses...).
  22. Gee David, what did I start here? What the heck! (belated ) Oh, and congrats to Cutting Edge! , Tame Bird! , and Air-Rex! ~ed~
