  1. Sounds fun! Ya'll be safe and have a blast! We'll look forward to the stories, pictures and maybe even videos!
  2. Never really adjusted to Chrome, Adblocker is always running on Firefox though. All other sites I was visiting at the time were okay. Seems to be okay now, perhaps just a deluge of traffic when I was here last.
  3. Seems like pages, pictures, etc. on this website are taking an abnormally long time to load. Everywhere else I go to seems okay. Something going on maybe...?
  4. Seems quite a bit faster to me, thanks!
  5. My next kite was going to be a SUL/UL dual line. Just came across good deal on a Cavalier du Ciel STX 2.1 UL, a Skyburner Nik Nak and a Gomberg 7 foot ghost delta. So not sure what's going to be next. REALLY wanted a new Rev they had there.... There's always next time!
  6. I'm in, or at least I'll try. That's a cool looking kite. Strange but cool!
  7. I'm in! Ohhh, this one entices me! (fingers crossed) I agree that this will be a tought one to follow.
  8. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all! Hope everyone has a safe and delightful holiday season!
  9. Yeah, I was kind of joking about every month thing. I'd be nice but a bit unrealistic. I lived for many years at Atlantic Beach, graduated from West Carteret back in 1980. Lived for a bit in Nags Head too. Can't seem to get too far from some kind of beach. Have a small place at Kitty Hawk now for little getaways and still get together down around AB or EI with the extended family for a week every year. Ya'll still get together to fly most Sundays? What kind of time frame are you flying usually? i might show up one day if I can get the stars to align. Next weekend? Hmmmm....
  10. Congrats Marshall! Maybe all of us NC flyers need to schedule a party! Outer Banks or Crystal Coast? Hmmm..... I say one weekend a month at each spot, alternating. One weekend at the Outer Banks, next one at Atlantic Beach. Big cookout and bring your favorite beverage! Oh and maybe we'll even fly some kites!
  11. I'm in! Would love a little speed demon for the collection!
  12. I am always amazed and envious of those fliers too. However, one of the pilots I enjoy watching the most is your videos, if that's any consolation to you! Lately boredom has been affecting me as well. I'm all fired up to go fly for a bit and once I get there and set up a couple of kites the enthusiasm starts to diminish pretty quickly. I'm thinking in my case though that it might be at least partially environmental. Not a lot of things to interact with or react to where I've been flying lately. Music has helped some, but I prefer a bit of variety and diversity in my environment. Might be time to find another field to fly, just to add a little spice to things. And people around to talk to and BS with would be cool. I need to find some other fliers around to congregate with. And I hate the time change... Put off flying for a little while the other day to do some other errands earlier in the day that could have been done at anytime. By the time I DID get to fly I only had about an hour before I had to pack it in. Bleh.
  13. My son and I were heading to visit Ft. Macon during our vacation down in Emerald Isle, NC when we noticed a few Revs flying in formation over on the beach. Headed over to watch and talk to the folks flying and lo and behold, there's John Barresi! Chatted with him for a few minutes and some of the other guys and gal there. Super nice folks all around. John let me fly his vented Rev for a few minutes, it was my first time flying a vented....wow, SUPER smooth! I've got one of Eliot Shook's 100% mesh Revs waiting on me in Corolla, I'm hoping it's as smooth feeling as this one was. Going by to pick it up Tuesday or Wednesday. I'll be over on Jockey's Ridge hopefully Wednesday and/or Thursday, weather permitting. Got to go back to work starting Friday though. Enjoyed meeting you at Ft. Macon Saturday John, hope to see you again. Will you be back in the area for the AKA Nationals?
  14. This takes me back to when I first started flying kites, back in '86. I flew a triple stack of multi-colored Peter Powells with the tube tails all day, almost every day that summer. They always drew a crowd!! Help me relive my lost youth, send them to me in NC!

    Vented advice

That sounds great Paul, I'll be keeping an eye out for more information. Hopefully I'll be able to attend some if not all of it. (Don't ever work shift work!)

    Vented advice

Thanks for all the replies! It seems to be that the overwhelming response is to to try them both out if possible and see for myself which I like better. Which makes the most sense, lol. Hopefully Elliot and Cath will have a demo model or two they'll let me try out and see. Thanks again folks!
  17. Right now all I have available in the quad catagory is the standard full sail JB series 1.5. I really need a vented model and it's going to be my next purchase. I have the great good fortune to live and fly not too far from the outer banks in NC. I've bought my Rev and another kite in my small collection from Flying Smiles kite shop down in Corolla, NC which is run by Elliot and Cath Shook (who are tremendously great folks btw!) and seen his custom mesh Revs which are beautiful. I had considered his kites to be a bit out of my price range, but since I don't have the dozens of kites that many of you do, I was thinking about splurging on one of these beauties for myself. My question is this: To any of you that have flown the Shook mesh kites and the standard JB vented versions, how do they compare? I'm talking specifically in how they feel in the air, flight characteristics, etc. Thanks for any replies!
  18. As long as you're looking some up... Thanks in advance!
  19. Hey guys! I live in Gates Co. NC, work in Suffolk, VA. Recently purchased a Rev and still trying to learn how to fly it, lol. My schedule is kind of screwy, but would love to get together with some others and have some flying fun. Post up a time and place and hopefully I can catch up with you. Tim
