I like the issues the way they are too. I think doing it through the forum will end up taking the
magazine away from Kitelife. Also it doesn't give a new person to Kitelife a chance to see the articles
right up front.

This is the 19th Annual Kite Festival here in Brookings Oregon. This Invitational festival brings spectators from all over the west coast to see the great show that our over 30 invited flyers provide.
Among the flyers are John Barresi and the Iquad team, the Bay Area Sundowners, Mark and Jeannette Lummas and Too much Fun,Ron and Sandy Gibian, and David and Susan Gomberg just to name a few. The list is too long for this post. This is one of the "Biggest Little Shows" you will ever see, with non stop demos, Free Kids Kitemaking and a great vendor field with lots of good food and other items for sale.
The festival is located at the Brookings harbor just off highway 101, the hours are 10:00 am to 4:00pm each day and is free to the public. Parking is best at the Chamber of Commerce Parking lot on Lower Harbor Rd. There is a Free shuttle running all day for the very short ride to the Kite Field.
The Southern Oregon Kite Festival went off without a hitch this last weekend. We had great wind. some of the best flying we have ever seen with record crowds watching. Thanks to all the flyers for coming and making this the BEST festival ever. I know we seem to say that every year, but for some reason it just gets better and better.

The 17th annual Southern Oregon Kite Festival is the premiere invitational festival here in Brookings Oregon. Held on the third weekend of each July, the community of Brookings and Harbor invite and host some of the best flyers in the country to display their amazing talents. This year we have invited over 30 flyers and teams. The field is small and there is no competition which allows for a very relaxed weekend of flying. The event is always free to the public. There is a large vendor area for the spectators to enjoy. Each day The rogue Valley Windchasers host a kids Kite Making Workshop that is always a favorite here in Brookings For more information go to www.sokf.org.
Sorry to say that March is not very good for me. I didn't know anything about the Team clinic in May. That sounds like something I might be able to do. Where can I find out about it ?
Steve
"Featured" was a bad word to use. I should have said "This Picture" was used in the article. I don't really think you want to read an article about what happened in this small town last year.

What a GREAT time!!!! This has to be one of the best festivals we have ever had! We did an unofficial count of spectators on Saturday, and the best estimate was about 5,000 in attendance. That's huge for Brookings. This is a very small venue. Many thanks to all the great flyers for helping make this such a success.

I sure hope to be in Crescent City on Labor Day weekend ! Hope to see you there.
Now for the latest weather update. They are calling for Northerly winds and a warming trend. One station is reporting possible 90s. I hope they are wrong about the 90s, 70 to 79 is great !
Steve
Here we go again! It's all coming together great. Last week we had record temps. 108 deg. on the worst day and an average of 97 for the rest of the week. This week we are back to normal, Fog and light winds. The fog cleared up by about 10 or 11 this morning. Thank god the heat is over!
Looking foward to it.

All I can say is WOW ! It was a great learning experience ! Sunday I was so tired I had to quit early. Flying pretty much non stop from 10 am to 4 pm Friday and Saturday really took it out of me. Can't wait for the next one. It was great flying with so many Rev flyers at the same time.
Steve
Who's planning to attend the Rev Clinic in Long Beach Wa ? I made my reseverations and heading out early Friday morning. Hope to be on the beach flying by noon. Let's hope for good weather!

The only thing that's going to stop me is Health issues. So lets keep everyone healthy and have a good time! Besides, I wan't to win the kite ! I have not flown in what seems like forever. This is the worst weather I'v seen in years.

Hey Penny
My granddaughter was asking what ever happened to the pictures from the Grinch routine.
Did you ever send them out? Cause we didn't get them.
Thanks
Steve
You are on the right track. Get rid of that SLE. It's like trying to fly with a piece of iron pipe on the leading edge. About the only time you would ever need it is in very high winds, and I say good luck to that. 90# line is real good for about every condition, unless you are cursed like me with very low or next to no wind. I have a bunch of 50# and 60# sets, both long and short.
Have fun
Steve
