    B-Series VTD Package (2/25/16)

WOWZA I am so stoked to win ! Fortunately, winds out of the North are making for quite a few days with high, bumpy, funky winds. I should be able to get this baby up in the air for some pics and a vid. Thanks to everyone for the congrats! Anyone wondering where I've been can ask my good buddy The RNG, who has been locked up in my basement for a month and basically tortured with a computer virus. That's how we get it done son! Thanks to John and staff and KiteLife for the super dope prizes I can't believe I WON !!!!!! Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk

Best Kite for Tails (non SLK)?

Hi all, Lots of talk about tails recently... I'm thinking about buying a kite just to pull crazy tails through the sky! Can you recommend a good setup for me? What would work best: A dual line foil? Dual line delta? Quad foil? Rev? The only kicker- please don't recommend me an SLK, I want a dual or quad line. Thanks for any suggestions!

    Looking sharp there!

    Why do you fly kite?

To prove "we don't need no stinking wind" indoors or not!

    Drone Fliers being arrested.

Knew about the RC planes.. Learned that kites were a no no in San Diego while trying to fly at Coronado beach. The Navy Seals train there, and have an airfield at the end of the island. While I wasn't arrested, I was shut down and warned very quickly. Very.

    Magic Sticks Review

Hehe since they are built in to the ABS, it seems like they aren't just required, but are a must. Those loops look heavy compared to magic sticks! Hmmm... "sissy sticks"... "lame loops" They're just "quad roll bars"... Dual kites have had them for a while. I love them on my Temptations...Yeah, I know. Seen them on dualies like you described. Still looks heavier than magic sticks to me! Now I'm wondering if they can be removed from the ABS without affecting the performance...Wish my fire emoji would show

    Skybond Now

Wearing out LPG might have to do with beach flying.. my 120s are 2.5 years old now, and still look fairly new. I have been to the beach only twice on these lines, oh and Antelope Island twice. Anyways nice to hear more positive feedback about SkyBond. Does it perform well when used in team situations mixed with LPG?

Pros cons 15 " vs 13" quad handles

I would have to say there aren't really pros and cons between the 2 lengths. Just a matter of what feels right, as many above have already said. 13s for me, all conditions, most Revs (indoor/B/speed/Zen). Have 15s, tried 17s... don't like at all, any conditions. Not fond 11s either.

    Why do you fly kite?

I fly kites because I wasn't born with wings of my own.

Magic Sticks .. the next level

Argh every time I mess with my LEDs, taping the battery to the light, then to the sail, all I can think is GEE I NEED A 3D PRINTER

Magic Sticks .. the next level

You can shed about half the weight of each light (2 grams+ usually) by removing the housings and taping the battery to the LED contacts when needed to be on.

    B2 / Rev 2

mystainedskin is right about slack line fun with the B2 being off the chart! And so easy to do in low wind, because the B2 won't hang on to less wind in the first place

    B2 / Rev 2

I can drag the B2 around from 0 on up, but I literally mean drag... my sail/LE just sheets the wind so fast. I will admit it can be a problem with my control, but I cannot hold a hover below 7 mph, until I get some curve in the LE. It can be fun to fly in this manner but with my chance at precision reduced in the low low wind, I'm looking for other options. I'm steering away from magic sticks too, I don't want a stiffer sail. The B2 has a higher weight to sail ratio compared to the 1.5 B already.. I flew a Rev 2 at KP and it was so much looser than my B2. It's my belief that the single skin had less seams which saves weight, and was therefore more flexible to boot. However, even that flew stiff with the 1/4" rod. I think any one of many changes could be made that would help me fly it better in 1-6 mph, but the rod tech is at the top of my list to start with.

    B2 / Rev 2

The B2 would be my kites of choice if it had the low end range on the std.. I will have to try the P90 frame. I bought The Diamond frame for my B2 and it's better than the race frame but only marginally so. I would love to have a Zen frame made B2 size, and an Indoor frame B2 sized as well to try out, but it's cost prohibitive, and a full P90 frame would be cheap.

    B2 / Rev 2

I feel the same way, especially regarding the B2. I was thinking lighter weight sail cloth, or less panels in the design, as the seams add stiffness- it wouldn't be considered a B-Series then I guess. Smaller diameter rods. I think your bungie idea should be explored as well. Need more flex in the rods/cup in the sail, however I can get it.

    Inland Winds- the Norm.

I understand inland-wind frustrations as well. Las Vegas is high elevation (>2000ft), and is situated in a valley with mountain ranges bordering 3 sides of the city. The wind up here is comprised of thin, heated air (thermals) and nasty gusty swirly junk. Now that summer is approaching, the high pressure systems will settle in above us and stifle any breeze that might have been... It can be frustrating. The inconsistent winds have driven me away from dualie trick kites, and over to the Rev, where I can make the best out of any wind situation. Patience and perseverance are my recommendations. As long as you are physically capable, keep at it and keep on keepin' on. Light wind flying is a skill you must cultivate.

    ABS Quad

It is being flown by the designer, and it seems like he has won a few awards, so I don't think his piloting skills are lacking in any way. http://www.skysportdesign.com/history/ Right Captainbob, I don't think it's the pilot either (hence the hehe when I said it) I think it's the kite. Lam Hoac's skill looks to be limited by the performance of the kite. I've seen prices of $300 mentioned by Patrick Tan, not sure if that is RTF, comes with multiple frames etc etc just saw $300.

    ABS Quad

The ABS is pretty... I need to see the leading edge bend a little more; the kite seems to fly in a very "stiff" manner, and doesn't seem to fly with high precision, at least in the vids I've seen (could be the pilots hehe). Looks like it has some sort of built-in magic sticks. Lam Hoac makes excellent kites, so I'm sure the build quality is exceptional. It is a pretty kite.

    Leading edge ferrules

Here's the analogy I like to use: you don't buy a Ferrari because they are maintenance-free, they (and most super cars) require lots and lots of maintenance and constantly. You buy it because it's super high performance. To me the Revolution is a performance kite; the kite WILL require maintenance, more so than most kites IMO, including re-gluing ferrules from time to time. Say what you want about how long glue should last, epoxy, etc etc but it's a cheap fix and probably will happen again. No worries, glue it and get back in the sky!

Possible indoor kite colors and shapes

Also, what shape is the arena you will fly in? To fly a Rev style indoor works better IMO when you have a 360 degree arena to play in. If you are looking to limit your window, like say while flying from the inside corner of a building, you might want more of a glider. With a glider you can narrow your window quite a bit.
