  1. I think with wind knowledge. Kite knowledge. And all that comes with it. You can use any kite for KAP. It is about finding what suits what you fly. When I started....I used a WalaXL with a heavy rig. It worked, although not ideal. Matching your weight rig with the proper kite and wind range....and personal preference. Remember , everyone is different. One will say this kite blows...the next will love it. Why? Someone thought about what they were doing. Sleds or foils also tend to yield different line angles for Kap than framed kites.
  2. I find the sled type kites give alot more grunt than the flowform or skyform style... I use the 81 and 36 sled by Premier almost daily. They get stuff in the air when others won't. But prefer the other...less grunt and I think they look better.I would like some skyforms also...60 and 120 for starters.
  3. I kap with framed kites,delts,dc,genki...but many use sleds and foils. i was going to mention reefrunner...but i see he chimed in
  4. Holy cow! I took a dual line with me today...

  5. I walk everything down....it is quick and easy. Also gives you a chance to work the twist out while winding line up. I prefer hand over hand(gloves),backwards down wind or to the side of the window....but also have 2 types of devices mentioned. a large rope handle and 500# clip and one with 2 feet inserts for the really bad days and mounting /unmounting stuff.. a portable pulley also..but rarely use it. I tend to use the clip more than the pulley. I can quickly tie a belay and anchor with the clip...in emergency situations...or simply throw a few wraps on the clip for mounting/unmounting laundry items. This is where the 2 footer strap has come in handy...leaves the hands free.
  6. It may not seem like much...but even the sticker creates reinforcment. Same as breaking at the internal ferrule point. In a high stress situation....the weakest point shows.
  7. A life of kites....for me.

  8. I see fear in alot of people when it comes to lines. I hook up..unroll..kite inverted.Giggle my right hand....does the left wing wiggle?..yes Launch and work the rest out in the air..cross throughs also. Once your twist are coming out,you can normally give one hand slack in a landed or flight position and see a cross through. Always remember....these kites fly with ALOT twist..even in multiples (exception..old crusty lines.) All you need is right and left. I only mark top lines , kite end ...no sleeving. If sleeved, tops one color..bottoms another. Lines stay on handles and sides are "paired" when disconnecting kite.
  9. So what's the temps like? Florida sand is scorching already!
  10. So...11 now. This thread should be blowin'up. I don't know about "ya'll"...but I am feeling an itch....should I scratch it? The itch involves a bunch of Rev Heads on a beach.... the energy that comes from these people is phenomenal. ....feeds my soul for months on end. Ya....me thinks a good scratch is way overdue!
  11. I run black race in my full vent. Never swap. Recent flights include 18mph steady with gust to 25. If conditions hit lower extra vent territory. ..I may slip a 3 wrap in. Like you said...everyone is different and will have opposing opinions.
  12. Unaware of chat issues... But unstable inland wind will make you a better flier. Beach isn't even part of the equation. Clean wind is nice...don't get me wrong...but it is not a challenge. There is nothing like bumpin' and grindin' with what is given. It can be quite a pain... but the knowledge you learn fighting...will far out way those "perfect" condition flights. Work those feet..don't be afraid of crashes..make it happen. It's cheaper than a gym membership.
  13. It is a custom Jordan Air Kite. I work in a kiteboard,SUP,kite shop. That is the logo for the shop. Used to have another larger one with the kite shops logo "Extreme Kites" but it was sold when ownership changed hands. Still flies local..but personally owned now. I have taken a # in hopes of getting it back in the shop.....or my bag
  14. Found this off Gombergs sight for bridles. Pilot Tuning? Lines and fabric may change after a few first flights -- like a new pair of shoes settes in with wear. For simple "field tuning", I simply gather all the lines in one hand. I adjust the bottom row until the kite is flying straight. Then adjust the top to orient for lift. Then remove the slack from any other lines. I tie a knot in all the lines, connect a flying line, and send it up to see how the adjustment worked. If correct, I just cut off all the loose bits. Same works for SkyForms. Also, found some info on the trailing edge venting for high winds...check the stitching and possibly close pin shut. Essentially, making the opening smaller. Cured some other peoples issues as you described.
  15. Preach it brotha! Shout it loud...and proud!
  16. So far all of the above sounds like pretty good advice. Even if the "creasing" were stretched area in the material of one of the cells or paneling was a bit off.. Bridle tinkering should cure the issue and decent flight obtainable. Interested....
  17. World Wide Kap Week!

  18. Oh my...hush Paul. I could use a Zen. I can testify to the changes in the Zen, brought to my attention by Paul. I now have a love affair with a kite I do not own.. ....sigh If by chance my current status changes and the kite AND handles are available still..I will message.
  19. Morning and evening yield awesome lighting . A little saturation, contrast, and sharpening can cure just about any photo if it is not popping. I use a mobile app "pixlr" quick and easy.. Have fun! Looking forward to more pics
  20. IDK if you saw, but ITW has a Levitation Light in their sales & bargains section... http://intothewind.com/shop/Sales_and_Bargains/Levitation_Delta_Kite_Light_On_Sale Ty sir...not much of a savings...but that might just be sold
  21. I could use a dual line. Who knows....it could be the long lost flailing machine I have been searching for?
  22. Mine is a double..An Into the Wind Levitation Light Delta and a Self made 2m Rok with a grey fade design or Camera Applique..
