  1. Weight, flex, return of flex....price. It is the ability to fine tune your kite for just about all conditions. You don't want so much flex that you lose the belly (pressure) in the sail and the ability for the kite to react quickly from inputs. Everyones preferences will be different...it's basically a fly it and see if it feels good for you.
  2. Almost there! Good luck to all.. I can only hope a Karma winner gets the winning #.
  3. ...and Barton insisted I represent properly in T.I.... you're awesome!
  4. Grüße mein Freund .. Ich benutze Google Translate auf Ihren Besuch!
  5. I love this place....you guys and gals rock! Along with all the knowledge...every once in awhile a suprise pops in from a fellow member. Thanks Marshall...totally not needed...but will be well used indeed! Maybe next week? Did I mention I LOVE THIS PLACE! Keep doin' what your doin'....a recipe for a great family!
  6. I am ready for my Kitelife year to begin! Come on MLk weekend....papa needs some line time.

  7. I have been trying to add a few of the good pics and pics shared via social media to this folder. If you feel the urge...stop by and check it out. https://flic.kr/s/aHsk2fATHk
  8. Todays journey started with all intentions of Rev flying on a local pier with floating docks. Upon arriving and waiting for a few folks to move...the wind got funky..eventually dying off. I managed to squeeze some water play and a little flying in..but not enough to even get the camera set up. After a few dips of complete stillness and nowhere to run...I decided to Kap instead of slice my sail on barnacles. It took about an hour to finally get the Triton up high enough for some liftable air. At approximately 350'..viola Never say Never. With all good efforts come rewards! After much running and fighting bugs and the wind....here is my prize. ........a few were too large.I will resize and post up in a bit.
  9. Don't forget, this could be a way to increase your odds...those that have already obtained entries.
  10. Happens more often then you would imagine. My style of KAP...which I have learned from a good friend Peter Boyton ...is mobile. I do not , as well as he, ever stay in one spot too long. The kite goes up. Test winds a bit. Mount camera...and we are off. Not uncommon to cover large areas (sometimes miles). That leaves out following the guided path. There are times you have no choice but to create your own. That creates some unique situations....some of which I do not recommend (lessons learned). As well as some unique photos
  11. All right KiteLifers, your next Karma prize is 5 entries into the JB for a Weekend drawing. This is your chance to spend some time with the master. Here is the link to the drawing for the details: http://kitelife.com/forum/topic/6277-jb-for-a-weekend-2115/ . Note: The JB for a Weekend Terms (including those for international entrants) will all apply. Standard Karma Note from the Moderators This is a Karma Drawing. The winner of the drawing is expected to pay it forward by offering their own prize for the next drawing. Please do not enter unless you are willing to offer your own prize, preferably not the prize you just won. Drawings should be open for entry approximately 2 weeks, and the next drawing should be posted as soon as possible to keep the Karma rolling. These drawings are run by and for KiteLife members. The moderating team only ensures that your drawing post contains all of the pertinent information (drawing date/time, adequate prize description, drawing rules) before approval. If you are a KiteLife member from the US or Canada, you are eligible to enter. You do not have to be a paid subscriber. Members from Canada, Alaska, and Hawaii are welcome to enter the Karma drawings provided they are willing to pay half of the Karma prize shipping cost. The method and timing of the payment will be agreed upon between the two parties after the drawing for a particular prize. Here is the link to the original Rules and Guidelines thread: http://kitelife.com/forum/topic/5426-rules-and-guidelines-please-read/ The mechanism for the drawing itself is entirely at the discretion of the person offering the prize. In the past, entry number has been determined either by order of entry or by the post number in which the member declares entry into the drawing. The drawings have been performed using the RNG method (http://www.random.org/sequences/) or by choosing the numbers out of a hat (I believe an adorable daughter did the picking in that scenario). The only requirement is that the method of selection is clearly spelled out in the drawing post. Entry into the drawings is done by STARTING a post in the drawing thread with the entry phrase chosen by the drawing host (Traditionally "I'm in", but "I LIKE" has been used as well). In order to remove any confusion or misinterpretation, only entries with posts that START with the phrase will be considered. As with all other KiteLife drawings, bantering is encouraged. This is for fun after all. 1. mtgrizzly52 2. Amexpmh 3. lmoaks 4. RobB 5. BrianS 6. makatakam 7. Hasek 8. Joespickles 9. Reved
  12. Cloudy first flight.. Happy New Year! Be safe....fly often!
  13. Suprise...suprise...wait for it If all agree..... As with all Karma.. I want to offer this up to Amexpmh. Instead of my original liking of the Kitelife spree...pass the Brooxes Simplex kit to him. I will still produce the next Karma drawing as required. The reason.....all my kite and kap equipment is sort of open ended loans. Without the help of others...i would not be enjoying what the outcome has become. What comes around ,goes around.....and it is way past my turn So....if all sits well with everyone. Happy New Year...can't wait for pictures! Stay tuned for the outcome and the next offering.
  14. Edit....the servo setup is fairly cheap...
  15. The pulleys really are worth it. I think the main issue is weight. The gopro rigs are so light..instead of sliding along through rings(or whatever is used), they sort of jitter along. My blurry count went to virtually 0 once the pulleys were introduced.
  16. I am a firm believer in "do what you gotta do" If you have a spare set you are willing to chop..go for it. Several threads of info shared already that should get you through it. Remember...there is no set guideline to length...except for team situations. If you are flying solo...no one cares except you how long they are. Experiment and find what works for ya. I chopped my first and only set for 2 varied length sets...never regretted it...
  17. Out to enjoy some sun today after alot of rain. Sunshine and 4 to 8 mph out of the NNE....that's butta for an east coast guy. I was KAPing and Reving off and on,so i figured what the heck. I already know of the twisting outcome....but it will be fun right? 6 minutes of dangling video during some Rev play.Fun:
  18. Dang. I missed it again....lol Happy Holidays! Looking forward to seeing all the new sails
  19. 50'x50# Skybond .. I just thought it was a cool angle.Glides gaining ground towards the camera are pretty awesome looking also. I got tired and deleted a bunch of stuff....
  20. Actually...I watched the "Stick Trick" vid. Scott does a half axel into the roll. I have also seen some variations. 1 being L.E. down into a flic flac style landing. But it doesn't show the recovery. Here is the video with the move described..i think it is at the very end. Been awhile since i watched it....time for a view.Great Revolution kite flyer : Marco Costa - Italy: .....it is not far in actually
  21. That's one of Weider moves.... clam rolling. Of course they fly sticks and it sort of helps with the roation on the ground.. .. but i am stick free. That wasn't a very clean exaple...but it was a fun day...with smiles comes more effort
  22. For the first time in a long while...things felt good. So here is some of it before i head out for todays session..with some funky boobtube tune. No Barresi or Underwood stuff here....but sure felt good to get back in the swing of things. Stella!:
