  1. Hmmmm. Not out of luck yet I see! That bird needs to fly south !
  2. Took the leap.. Standard Grey fade custom from Dave at Kite Connection should be on the way soon. Hopefully by the weekend..... Guess its time to start saving again....
  3. Thanks Wayne... I already have eliminated the triangles and use the leaders, top touch the bottom and maybe 2.5 in. Out On the bottom with 3 fairly close knots. Run the top all the way out most of the time and the bottom about an inch out. Guess that would be a fair amount of "brake"..sometimes I scoot the top in 1 or 2 but usually end up right back out. Bottom never moves. I have also started using these handles on the rev 2 with the same setup. I was considering the B series standard.....would like a pro..and a blast 2/4. As far as the pro, I will get one by summer time more than likely and the blast.... Well I'm 6' 200+lbs... So it looks fun for low to mid wind days.I love the precision.....but power to get the blood pumping never hurts! I don't mind making the steps through the kites. I am a firm believer in.... You just have to do it to really learn it and its nice to have multiple feels and spares for others to jump in.. So far I fly daily... So I can see the "golf bag" filling up very, very, very soon. Hmmmmmmmm....almost time for a giveaway is it not?
  4. Nice work! Just started single hand flying myself..... Two almost makes my brain boil just watching.
  5. Any deals on kites at the festival? Looking to upgrade from my EXP...and can't decide whether too wait or order one and have it for the trip. I recently got a Rev 2 for 20 bucks in great shape w/ handles...... So that helps on windy days.... But the decision for a new larger version is making my brain smoke. Also, is there a difference in handles between the EXP and 1.5? As I was looking at a kite only purchase. I know it's a little off topic , but any help would be useful in making my decision for the trip. Thanks in advance!
  6. Treasure Island Kite Festival this weekend. Looking forward to the Gulf Coast once again!

Not too mention a beach full of Revs and every type of windrider imaginable.

If only for 1 day, I will make the journey!

May the weather stay warm and the wind stay steady......the countdown begins.

  7. This weather reminds me of a Christmas one year that was 90 degrees...

Looking at low to mid 80s in January! Gotta love Florida!

  8. Someone is pushing for a quick call to la migra!

  9. What a pleasant Monday.... And the wind is blowing 20. Time to pop the Rev 2 up for a fast and exciting hour or two.

  10. Rain... Rain... Go away!

I would like to take the kites out and play.....

No flying?... I'm crying!.... It takes my stress away....

Got wind... Got wings..... Guess it will have to wait for another day!

  11. Congrats! May the winds be in your favor the day of arrival.
  12. Happy Holidays every one! Be safe...

  13. Hmmmm.... No tracks from a sleigh on the roof. But cleared room for a Kymera to land softly on it's flight to the east coast! Fingers crossed..binoculars out scanning the horizon!
  14. I originally was drawn to kites by dual line tricks. I got a couple of small foils and a Big Bang that needed a little work, but then I caught this nasty bug (Revolutions). I must say that a Kymera could possibly stoke the fire once again. I fly daily and must admit a nice dual line would suite me well... and broaden my horizons even farther.
  15. Thanks for the replies. I have every intention on going,as it is only a short drive away(4hrs). I almost enjoy watching as much as i do flying. Really looking forward to seeing other fliers of every type of kite.I have only met 1 other kiter in 2yrs,besides surfers and landboarders in my area. On another note.... Merry Christmas to all! May it be a great holiday for everyone and their families...........and maybe some flying involved in there somewhere!
  16. So Fridays are usually a day off for me...but I was told we have to work tomorrow.

Think I can call in with the excuse of " its the end of the world" ?

  17. Niiiiiice... Come home from a relaxing afternoon.... To a dozen cops. Seems there was a drive by 2houses down . Full clip from a handgun.

Everyone seems suprised.... I wonder why? It's quite obvious... Youngsters these days need to learn discretion. It will go a long ways.

A simple saying comes too mind. I have always lived by it......

    " Don't sh*t where you sleep"

  18. Thinking of going to my first kite festival this year @ treasure island. What can be expected? The wife agreed to go with me over a month ago and the anticipation is now killing me........... Any details of past ventures may just hold me over for a little while.
  19. Well, duct tape and weed eater line have solved many issues for me.  must be a southern jeeper thing.
  20. Ha! Didn't realize the thread was so old. I agree with the Dremel or air saw. Cut off wheel was my first thought, but without a small vise or some type of jig to hold the rod and a high speed wheel..... I had visions of the rod bouncing and dancing like a Mexican jumping bean.... And breaking. Also didn't want my fingers that close to the cut to stabilize the rod. I saw the multiple setups that were pictured that others use. I was more in the "keep it simple stupid" state of mind. The line cutter worked great ..no dust,no batteries or compressors,no noise and they make them small enough to fit in the palm of your hand.....perfect for your kite box or bag. Although I would have one dedicated to rods, as the cutting wheel tends to dull using it on metal lines over time. All the "possible" mishaps with cutting via all methods can still be repaired in the same manner with the glue..if need be.... But with the same amount of care as using power tools... should be no issues.
  21. Don't know if this has been tried.... but being a gearhead and not being able to find my hacksaw for my first rod cut( as recommended in some threads) . I grabbed the brake line cutter. The pressure you put on the rod needs top be payed attention to, but with a few spins around a couple of minor tightenings after each spin.... whalla! Nice STRAIGHT even cut.
  22. Always be thoughtful of what you wish for.... You just might get it!

I wished for wind...it came in the form of about 12knts. Now, 2 busted kites and my weekend just begun...... D'oh

It was fun while it lasted!

  23. Damn..I spun left and stomped right..it must be reverse....got rain instead of wind from my dance.

  24. It's hard to ignore the signs...as I work outside.

The eagles and hawks start riding thermals. The leaves start to flicker.. the palms begin to rustle.... Can't wait for the day to be over and be on the coast!

  25. I joined for the knowledge available... low and behold.....bonus! Sure would be a well needed addition for one of the empty spots in the kite bag Santa is supposed to deliver!
