Wow, I hardly know you. Being called Bread and Butter is a bit fast

Or it could be fear of trying to teach a basket case quad flyer like myself

No, I believe John is vibrating over the temps. But I could be wrong...

The forecast for Corolla, NC doesn't show rain. Friday 23 mph winds, Saturday 14 mph winds and Sunday 10 mph. The high temps go from 57 to 62

I gave my Backtracker away to a friend (I'm not sure that person considers me friend after that lol), so it's permanently gone from my bag.

Lol, they even spoke about the TC Power Ultra. I now remember that he did patent the 2 to 4 line kite.
Believe it or not my first quad kite was a Rev Backtracker. It was the worst Rev probably ever made. I tell you, if you could fly a Backtracker, then any other Rev was a piece of cake.

I think you're right, I do remember him having a name close to my name, which is Eric

Hope you can make it Bill. I just spoke to flying smiles kites and they'll have some 100# 120' line sets for sale by the clinic time

My thoughts are a logo that displays hands holding quad handles and line straps. I don't have any drawing talents, so I can just present thoughts.

Thanks Lynn, I'm going to call the Flying Smiles Kites and see if they have a line set. If I can't get my hands on a set, I'll definitely borrow a line from you.
Yes, the Symphony quad kite is definitely a different animal from other quads. It loves to move sideways, but not so much up and down. I believe the person that produced this kite lived in the Washington DC area and would show up to competitions around that area. I can't remember the exact years, but definitely in the 1990's. Around that time TC Powers was pushing his Ultra dual/quad line kite. I was never really impressed with that kite or any delta that was flown as a quad

Ditto, it goes without saying in my opinion

I'm really looking forward to this too. Two more weeks!
This is my quad line collection, it's not very big.
Rev II - Well used and vintage 1990's
Rev 1.5 - Well used and bought when Revolution first came out with that model.
Rev 1.5 full vent - Brand new and flown once.
Symphony - Bought in the 1990's. The maker was touring the east coast and winning competitions, both indoor and outdoor. It'd be interesting to see John fly trying to fly this one, I still haven't figured it out. Here's a website that shows the Symphony http://www.kitesonconsignment.com/kockitesalesquad.html
Minergy Deca Zero Wind - Fun little kite, but not easy to setup.
My line sets are as follows:
90# 17' - Tried indoor flying with this set.
90# 50'
90# 80'
150# 85'
Do I need to acquire a 100# 120' set for this clinic?
Excited about this event!
Eric

I hope to make it up to Salem that Saturday, but can't commit quite yet.
Thanks,
Eric

I was really shocked to find out Terry past away. I was going to let him know that I was coming to OBSKC this past October. I knew him from back when we both started getting in to kites.
I have few things from him. Quad handles and golf ball stakes he made. A MEFM he flew. I traded him my Rev 1 for that kite.
Is Phil Napier still around? I last saw both Terry and him at the Blue Ridge kite festival in Salem, VA a few years back.

Yep, it was a nice workout for sure!

Cool Riffcllown, it'll be good to see you again. I met you at OBSKC this past year. With extreme high winds on Saturday, I flew my (vintage) 6ft Flexifoil. You let me fly your Symphony 2.2.4 and after that I decided, Yep! I'll have to do this somehow. I tried to spin the 2.2.4 like a Rev and you said "No, just let one line loss" and after that it spun just like a Rev.

Okay Great! I've spoken to Lynn and reserved a room and signed up!
Really looking forward to this.
Eric
PS: Maybe I could get Mr Riffclown to convert my Symphony 2.2 to 2.2.4 :-)

I'll have to show you all a maneuver I created when I flew team with Terry Murray and two others. It's called the "Mongolian Cluster F@ck". Imagine 4 kites coming down in a tangled heap
