I'm happy with my AC SUL. I can't compare it to a lot of the SULs the are around today, since I haven't flown many. I also find 80' lines to be the best length in general. If I had to select one line set to take anywhere with me, it would be 80' 90# lines.

I glad you enjoyed the video Breezin. I enjoyed making it.
If you're not planning to fly indoors, I'd stay away from the VII. It's a better indoor kite than outdoor in my opinion. The larger one seems more like what you might be looking for

Ditto! You must be a natural Breezin, still struggling to do some of the tricks you've advanced to. I'm going to have to ask Lam about a new bridle for my AC SUL and whether or not there are weights in my wing tips. I don't remember him telling me there were any when I purchased it. The VIP II is a very nice indoor kite. It'll take some getting used to for outdoor flights and tricks. It's small and uses light inputs.Wow Breezin you’ve came along ways in a year in your ability and equipment. Love reading your posts.

I good with either John. Unfortunately some of the core people in the group aren't able to commit yet. Should we start a thread to see what interest there is? I'm not the greatest coordinator. It feels a lot like herding cats to me lol

What are the thoughts of a Spring Corolla 2019 gathering. Anyone want to start a new post?

Cool John, I'd suggest just park it and flying in front of it. You might also have the ability to select a pre-determined flight path with your drone. So you can make it move between points you've set and just fly in front of those points.
Edit: I found what I was referring to for DJI. The feature is called Waypoints

I bought the GoPro Hero 6 Karma package. I considered others, however the versatility for me make it much more usable than a dedicated drone. I can use just the camera, or use the camera in the Karma gimbal or attach it to the drone. The biggest downside is the drone, if crashed, can be easily damaged. The DJI drones have more protection from damage. The Karma doesn't have obstacle avoidance, where as most other drones do. The Karma isn't a small as some of the DJI drones, however it's video quality stacks up well even against the latest DJI drones.
When I'm by myself, I use the drone as an aerial tripod. Just park the drone and fly the kite in front of it. At festivals I just fly around and try to get cool shots.
Here's one of my favorite videos I made of just using the drone as a tripod
This video I made this month at the Cape Fear Kite Festival. It starts with me using the GoPro on a gimbal and at the end it's on the drone.

I've seen that video about a month ago, it's a really cool quad called the SkyKnife
-
Paul, do you have a video of your leading edge forward fades with a quad? I'm having problems visualizing that. I've seen videos of a fulcrum doing that, but not of a Hadzicki wing kite
-
@Exult I do agree that the quad version looks more like a turtle than a fade, however that's what people are calling it.

I've seen quads do fades, but not turtles

April,
Putting a kite into a turtle is a dual line trick when the kite is on it's back.

I'll throw my name in for this. I have a Jeff Howard PKC Wren with those same colors.

Your kite very rightly won first place Karen, you did an excellent job on it!
Congratulations!
Eric

The new Silver Fox is probably the best value for a dual line kite that's currently on the market. I have an UL and fly it very often.]

It's a really enjoyable, rewarding as well as a heck of a workout. Both mentally and physically.
Really didn't think I could do it, but man I loved our session (myself, April, Eli and JB)

Two weekends ago I was at a Brasington workshop. Most people there had Pfaff sewing machines. Donald Jacob seemed to have the coolest Pfaff. When he was sewing, all I hear was a Zzzzzzz. Whereas my Singer Stylist was more of a chic, chic,chic....Sigh this topic is like getting kicked in the butt.Repeatedly. I went for the PFAFF. Used. New one cost more than a Level One Reloaded .

You definitely should try it Bill. Getting any sewing machine and just practicing is really what is needed. If you know basic sewing, that's the biggest skill you have to bring to the workshop.

After extensive self reflection, I've come to the conclusion I'm offended by this topic.. Specifically the word "might"
Agreed! "Might" is nowhere close.
That's like saying Eli Russell "might" like food

For zero wind dual line flying I have a Peter Betancourt - Vanishing Point. It's not a trick kite, but tricking in no wind isn't for me (unless it's indoor) I need a slight breeze at least
