  1. In a strong wind, if you fly for a while, the fabric on your sail will stretch a bit. Sorta like the stretch in the sail I sent you. But after a couple hours it tightens back up and the sail is flat again. After a ton of flying in strong winds, the stretch will stay. None of my kites are stretched yet, and I fly a lot.

If you tried to fly the rev with the top lines only, it would just flop around. It's not until you apply some brake, to get the sail trimmed right, that you get lift. Adding more brake slows the kite down.

But that's no fun. I say pedal to the metal. Learn to zoom.

  2. No vents in this B series. A little streached out means that the fabric is a bit loose on the bottom edge near the center of the kite instead of being flat.

Overall a good kite with lots of life left in it.

Hey RevRookie. Thanks for the good words. PM me and let me know what your building these days and what you need.

I rarely fly the 1.5's anymore. Usually the B2, and the 1.8 size I designed is my favorite. Still spending the whole summer at the Russian River in northern California. This one is my current favorite 1.8 sized quad.

  3. Thanks guys. This quad was very difficult to make a pattern and cut out the parts. Don't know if I will attempt this design again. But it's one of my favs and I'm glad I built them.

The cheapo Singer machine doesn't like double sided seam tape. It's too thick and sticky.

You have to use some kind of a glue. Also try hot tacking little holes on the seams with a hot knife. This will keep the fabric from sliding around while you feed it through the machine. Glue sticks work well for the simpler designs.

  4. I'm just starting out and I'm not sure if I want to get into massive sub ohm clouds of vapor. I like the Kanger Tech so far. I'm curious as to how it can crap out when I can completely disassemble the unit and clean. Then add a new coil, and it should be good as new. I just read that you shouldn't put a glass vap pen in your pocket just in case it shatters. The Kanger comes with an optional metal chamber that looks like it can take a beating.

I just bought a couple of minis for $10 each online. They also have the optional metal chamber. More flavors! Nice

  5. I have been vaporizing teas, among other things, with the Magic Flight Launch Box. I have had it for over a year and is the perfect traveling kit if you want to vaporize fresh herbs instead of oils. If anyone has interest in the product feel free to PM me. I know a lot about the kit. Here is a little commercial about it.

That one looks cool, and a lot smaller than my Volcano ;) What's the ball bearing for in the picture of your kit?

  6. I bought a vap pen last year for about $15 at a head shop. It leaked after the first day and I gave up. The other day I went to the local e-cigz store and bought a KangerTech Aerotank V2 for about $29. It's a very high quality tank. The coils are replaceable. I'm liking it.

  7. The sleeving was too large. After switching to sleeving from some bridle line that I had. It worked much better.

I flew for 2 hours today. The wind meter showed ground winds at 25mph. The quad has Sky Shark P2X framing. A P2X is a fairly light weight rod. But at 24" they were strong enough for the wind today. There was no bowing in the leading edge, even during the crazy strong gusts. The little kite was pulling me around a bit. At 4300' elevation I had to pause and catch my breath regularly. After an hour and a half the Sky Bond 120' 100# broke. I switched to 100' 250# Sky Bond which worked real good until I broke an end cap hitting the street.

It was a workout. I took some video. I'll post it when finished.

  8. Thanks for the input John. I always wondered why the venting was draped over the verticle spars. I've blown up a verticle spar, flying the 1.5 std in too much wind. It shot back about 50' before it splashed into the water.

The last time I flew a B2 std in big wind was last summer. It was blowing in the 25-35 range. The only problem I had was the lines slipping thru the sleeving and turning it into a scrunchy. Learned my lesson on knot tying in big wind. Those B2s can handle a lot more wind than what they're rated for.

And today was so calm we were flying the quadcopters outside. Here's where Patagonia is. I can see Mexico from the house.

    The latest report.

It doesn't look like it's going to let down at all. :)

  9. I haven't seen a rattlesnake in ages! What part of town were you in? Was it a western diamondback? Happy thanksgiving!

I'm in Patagonia. I flew for 4 hours yesterday and only 3 cars drove by. The Orkin exterminator guy set sticky traps for the mice. The snake saw an easy meal and got caught up in the sticky trap also. I showed up when he was trying to capture it. It was about 2.5" wide and 4-5 feet long. I couldn't tell you what kind it was.
