  1. Got one thnx! Wanting to buy a used Revolution kite! Eyeing a 1.5 B-series, midvent, 3wrap. Since it's gonna be a first ever quad, I'll also be looking for handles and lines. Preference for local deals so we could meet up and skip the hassle of packing for shipping and all that extra effort. Feel free to PM me too, thanks all and really appreciate it! Also looking for any 1.5 style rev (Reflex, Classic, vented, etc.) If you're thinking of letting one of your revs go, pm me please! Has to be RTF.
  2. until
May 3rd at 5pm-6pm PST (8pm-9pm EST) Please consider yourself cordially invited to a group chat with all four members of Team KiteLife: John Barresi ( @John Barresi ) Scott Benz ( @mystainedskin ) Eli Russell ( @windpoacher ) Brett Marchel ( @Flight Risk ) Team members will be on hand to answer ANY and all questions you might have about dual, quad or performance flying, including the many odd topics enjoyed by them like dogstake, indoor, team flying, etc... We're an open book, pick our brains, we're happy to help! Chat will be here - http://kitelife.com/forum/direct-line/
  3. Join us for two full days of hard core TEAM QUAD instruction on May 13-14, 2017 with three members of Team KiteLife including @John Barresi and Scott Benz (@mystainedskin) on both days with Brett Marchel (@Flight Risk) joining us on Sunday at the Munson Soccer Fields near Detroit MI. Location - https://goo.gl/maps/iszmxLfeQzT2 NOTE: This event has been reformatted - it is open to intermediate fliers or better only, focus will be on team flying and certain skills are required including basic hovers, figure 8 flight and fundamental speed control. Please also note, there are only 8 spots available! Saturday morning we'll have a rountable about team philosophy and dynamics, this covers a metric ton of stuff that even the "pros" think they know, but don't... Then we'll break up into two teams, rotating students between the two groups to work on team maneuvers and basic skill improvements, then we'll do a mega fly to close out the day, wind allowing. I'd also like to identify who, if anyone is interested in learning how to call a team on their own... This is a great chance for warm hearted coaching and friendly cohorts, really as painless and fun as it gets. Sunday will be more of the same, turned up few notches. Ideal choice of equipment for this class is any model of "1.5" style kites (includes EXP, SLE, B-Series, printed specials, Phoenix, Shook, Swiss Made, Freilein, etc) - we'll go through painless equipment set up, good tuning and all aspects of flight - the goal here is to demystify quad flying and set you up to win... Again, ANY type of basic "1.5 platform" quad line kite is acceptable for participation. Students will use their own kites, 120' length is REQUIRED for all team exercises. Must be Skybond or spectra lines for team flying. Testimonials - http://tinyurl.com/jb-testimonials Registration is $175 per person and includes full access to the clinic on both days (10a-4p), a discounted rate of $150 is available to KiteLife subscribers. 4. Hi Guys, I was going through my grandpa's old kites awhile ago and I found a really cool quad called a Synergy Deca by Guildworks. The problem is that this quad is the most confusing kite I have ever seen. Problems with putting it together are made worse by the fact that I'm pretty sure half the spars are missing/broken. I really want to build and fly this kite. I've written to GuildWorks (who apparently builds big fabric art awnings now) with no reply. I've scoured the internet but I can't find anyone that actually has this early model kite, and while there are some other GuildWorks kite videos out there, each GuildWorks kite seems to be uniquely complicated in construction (in this model there are just as many tangled lines as there are spars) and no one focuses on this model. I'm looking for anyone that can help with any of the following 1) original build instructions 2) assembly video or online resource 3) spar list and dimensions of spars so I can get replacements Thanks for reading,
  5. The original Ninja Eyes set by Bazzer. This is the very first set made, and are the only one of two sets made in the Rev1 sail size. Sails were sewn by Bazzer, but they were finished by Revolution. They are the only kites finished by Revolution that does not have the revolution logo imprinted on them, that I know of. The other kite set is owned by Ben Dantonio, retired general manager of revolution(the last I heard). AS far as I know, these are the kites that started the series of special kites made by master kite makers for Revolution. This set is one vented and one full sail kite, with stacking lines, 120ft laser pro line set, 15 inch snagless handles. The kites are in very good shape, I never flew them in high winds and always took good care of them. No rips, tears, or stains, mesh is in excellent shape. The buyer will be tasked with keeping a bit of Revolution history, they are listed in John Mitchell's list of notable kites in Revolution's past. $2000, including Priority shipping in the US. I will consider offers. I do dicker.
  6. Supersonic template 3 inch bigger at the V cut. i used the original frame and spars. is flying good but i need to do some adjustments at the bridle to make him to respond better at hovering and slow fly
  7. Hi all, Super stoked to announce that Team KiteLife will be returning to the SPI Kite Festival in February! Thursday, Feb 2 evening: Indoor show (tickets available at B&S Kites) Fri/Sat, Feb 3-4 all day: Outdoor festival == Additionally, we'll be offering TWO separate workshops / clinics / classes on Sunday Feb 5th! These are fun and educational workshops covering the most important aspects of dual or quad line kite flying and we do cover a lot of important fundamentals in the starting presentation of each class, so please be on time. If we have full classes would mean one instructor for every 2.5 students over the course of three hours, with four instructors rotating through the class... That's a ton of personal, one-on-one time with experienced fliers. Included for each discipline: Basic introduction to kite types and bridle / tuning Field-proven techniques for setting up and breaking down your gear Basics of flight posture, body, hands and feet, as well as line tension Training with an instructor on your own kite(s), building your skills FYI, you CAN register for both dual and quad line classes if you fly both styles! 8. I just put this up for sale. I'm selling this bat kite because I purchased a custom Rev Series B. Everything is there to fly the quad line bat kite... instructions, carrying bag, skyshark carbon fiber, handles, and lines. http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/232124960438?
  9. Rain, rain go away but leave the breeze for today... So it wasn't the rain that sent me to roll up my lines today, it was the massive roll of thunder that announced the predicted change from grey and gusty to thunderstorms that was the nudge I needed. However, before I gave in I found myself contemplating "if the sail gets wet, it must get heavier. I wonder how much the wind range is impacted by the sail being wet?" Anyone got advice on how many more mph of windspeed is needed to keep a sail up when it goes from dry to wet? Just curious, the wind I get is frequently light enough that I am struggling to stay aloft - making skill building hard. Wondering if staying out in the (non-thunderstorm) showers is worth trying out or if borderline wind + wet wieght= no flight for me. Also, is there a secret "bring on the wind but not the rain/thunder" ritual or dance that I can learn? Don't get me wrong, I ain't complaining - I got a full 10 minutes with my full vent sail the other day before switching back to the standard. Not bad for an inland field round here.

  11. So recently I aquired a set of Shanti Skybond 100'x100# quads. I told myself in the beginning...I would fly both major makers and form my own views on what I liked. So no better time than now! I have flown a full year or so with LPG, different weights and lengths..so time for a change. I have about 50 hours or so on this Skybond set. I have to say that I am liking them. After flying opk with Skybond lines, my interest peaked even more... good timing as I am in need of all lenghts and weights again. My initial thoughts were super slippery. The coating used is great so far. A little color fade...but the set has been in the ocean completely for many hours...I swim and fly or float and fly. .hit sandbars...etc... I hope in the long term...this coating holds up, I dig it. Almost has waterproof properties when wet...sheds water very quick. On the plus side....no clumped up sandy lines when winding up Smaller diameter line compared to Lpg..which equated to less drag and a more direct feeling between me and the kite...almost like running a lighter weight line. I am tickled "yellow" so far and looking for the long term picture as I begin the switch..... I only have 1 gripe with LPG in the end...longevity. I have been wearing out sets at alarming rates...even with regular rotation.up and down..and switching ends. So we will see what transpires from a change this year... What do you fly and why? If you fly Skybond already.... what's your comparison to LPG?
  12. Sorry to ask this question,.. where's the best place to unload a couple of great kites that I don't even carry anymore? Race frames on both, french bridle on 1 and the 1point6 bridle on the other (they were used with four kite comparison testing sessions), magic sticks on both, SUL leading edge sleeves, some wear, but no sail damage of any kind. They have been greatly loved and cared for, now someone else needs a turn. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10200814036865492&set=t.1079141123&type=3&theater
  13. For the first time in a long while...things felt good. So here is some of it before i head out for todays session..with some funky boobtube tune. No Barresi or Underwood stuff here....but sure felt good to get back in the swing of things. Stella!:
  14. I had to make some repairs to my old full vent this evening. While I was at it...I went ahead and made another mod Mr. Paul Lamasters and Mr. Paul Dugard had mentioned several times before. To start..I added extra "tabs" at the folding points and the center bridle point in the l.e..... I will load some pics later. This gives you 7 tab attachment points in between the l.e. and the actual sail. This is well worth it in my opinion. Prolonges overall life of the kite and the l.e. mesh. The next mod..bungee covers on the lower verticals. I dig this one...and super simple. I used whatever material i had available. Just so happened to be a variety of webbed strapping. Sort of heavy...but all in the name of learning and old sails. I would definitely use a l.e. type material for these mods. These mentioned items will be done to all my new sails........ What do you do to trick your ride?
  15. Once again this year...I was fortunate enough to spend several days in Treasure Island for the 18th Annual Sport Kite Competition. This was my third year in attendance. Nice weather saw fair winds and large crowds.Sunday brought some of the largest spectator crowds I have seen. Unfortunately,I was flying line all day and unable to KAP.....never thought I would say that was an issue Saturday however, I did manage to put the camera up and do a 1500 picture run throughout the area and competition/demo field. I have had the opportunity to review and crop out 50 or so pictures and uploaded them here for your viewing pleasure https://flic.kr/s/aHsk7haVfu

  18. I am selling my 2005 Synergy Zero Wind Great Deca Indoor Quad Kite. It has never been flown and is in perfect new condition. It is my understanding that Guildworks is either no longer making these or at the least it is very difficult to get one. When I purchased mine back in 2005, I had to wait over six months for delivery. I am taking offers at this time. Look for my other listings on this site for a Synergy Deca 15 (new condition, test flown twice, and same year), as well as these other kites that are also in new condition. I have a Benson Airbow quad kite, a Revolution Indoor quad kite, a White Bird Firebird single line kite and a White Bird dragon single line kite.
  19. I am selling my 2003 Benson Signature Series Quad Kite signed by Andy Wardley and Tim Benson. It is number 10 of 10. It has been flown twice always on grass and only to test it out. There are no rips, tears or discolorations. Even the bridal is in new perfectly clean condition. It is my understanding that the Benson Airbow is no longer in production.
